Iris Charabi-​Berggren, CPCC, ACC, MFA is an experienced and skillful Certified Professional Co-​Active Coach (accredited by the International Coach Federation). She provides customized coaching to executives in startups as well as individuals in transitions around the world.

Authentic leadership, innovation, productive communication skills, and emotional resourcefulness are some of the long lasting outcomes of her coaching. With a unique signature coaching-​style, she delivers bold truths with great compassion, clarity, and humor. Her clients often take huge leaps and learn to embrace the unknowns while feeling grounded.

Her great joys derive from connecting people, encouraging new collaborations and cross-​pollinations, as well as being a mentor to young artists and disadvantaged youth.

History

Established in 2010.

What inspired me to start my coaching business:

I am an entrepreneur in my heart. I possess great passion for business as well as art and creativity. I find the overlapping turf between these two supposedly opposing fields an exciting playground.

My sister, an expert leadership coach at Stanford, was the first to identify the alignment between coaching & my natural talents, inclinations, and character. She was spot on to suggest that I try it.

–Tim Minchin for his multiple talents & for his unique and unapologetic perspectives.

–Seth Godin for being super creative, articulate, and for calling on BS when he sees it.

–Maude, a fictional character from the movie Harold and Maude for being the ultimate rule-​breaker, and for being playful with life.

–Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind for her untainted curiosity, kindness, and her ability to connect across species and heal wounded societies

I originally came to Iris over my frustrations in my work environment. She was able to assess the situation and understand my needs through our conversations. She provided feedback to help me organize and prioritize my tasks to achieve the outcomes I want at work. When I spoke to her about getting more organized she provided step by step instructions to convert the idea of ‘getting organized’ into a SMART goal which can be quantified.
She is very honest and focuses the meetings on what steps I can personally take to make my work environment better. She is a wealth of knowledge and always has something to share related to issues I bring up. At the end of every meeting she summarizes the work we have done and provides homework to address the issues I brought up during the session.
I am always encouraged when I meet with Iris, she affirms the positive steps I have already taken to improve my workplace and adjusts our meeting based on my current needs. My work environment has improved with each meeting and I look forward to work with her more to help my personal growth. I would highly recommend Iris as a coach who can meet you where you are.

I’ve worked with Iris over the past year and found here to be incredibly helpful. She is intuitive, insightful, no bs, and holds you accountable. Like a talented tennis player Iris will rally with you at whatever level you most require. My work with Iris began with a compulsion to reinvent my businesses, but through our sessions, she quickly helped me to see that the challenge was more about prioritizing the things that give me the greatest sense of purpose – in all facets of life. Of course, on a certain level, I already possessed this knowledge; her skilled combination of mentoring, questioning and encouragement gave me the clarity to see that the things I want are actually well within reach – and to face some more ingrained issues/​habits that get in the way. Iris is a fantastic person and a fantastic coach! I bought an 8 session package with Iris earlier this year. This was during a time that I was feeling confused by which direction to take in my career and I was overwhelmed by all of my responsibilities. I started out with a lot of areas of my life that I wanted to improve. Over the course of the 8 sessions, Iris made sure to address every single issue I had mentioned in my new client information packet (plus any others that came up along the way). Iris taught me how to set realistic, approachable goals, how to make time for those goals, and how to hold myself accountable for completing each step in attaining those goals. That was extremely valuable for me as I was severely lacking in those skills – and it has made so much difference in my productivity and happiness levels. I now approach my life with the mindset of creating the most joyful experience, and Iris really helped me figure out what that means for me.
I have to say my favorite thing about working with Iris is that our coaching sessions felt like really effective therapy that ends with an action plan. Every single time that I came in feeling down, confused, concerned, unmotivated, etc. – she dug right in and helped me figure out the root of what was blocking my happiness in that moment. The insights I gained during our time have been so helpful in getting me to overcome my usual stumbling blocks. When we ended our time together, I knew that I would go back someday… I just haven’t needed it yet! I’m still riding on what I learned the first time.
Last thing – aside from being a great coach, she’s just a cool chic! Kind, vibrant, stylin’ – she is great company to have around.

I learned more about myself in three sessions than I did in 20 years of therapy. I have a serious mental illness that has had an impact on my career, and I needed someone who could help me understand for myself how valuable I am to the world. She is the kick in the ass that I needed, with genuine love and encouragement. She doesn’t teach, or just sit there and listen. She guides me through to find answers for myself.
After four years of being on disability, I am back at work in a job that other people would really envy. Iris is helping me get back into the workforce and use my disability as a strength. She has shown me how much I have learned from the roadblocks I have faced, and how to use them to my advantage.
I plan on working with Iris into the future, as there are always ways that I can grow my career and learn about my strengths.

I’ve been a people manager for many years, and always tried to give the best advice I could to my team. I thought that was coaching, because I had never experienced anything else with my managers or mentors. After working with Iris, I now better understand what real coaching is!
I started looking for a coach when I realized I had hit a plateau in my career and my overall happiness. There was nothing wrong, I just didn’t feel like I was making forward progress. When I started working with Iris I didn’t have any specific goals. She asked me insightful questions and through our discussions we identified areas I needed to think about and research more to help me better identify what I wanted to achieve and where I wanted to improve. We came up with practical homework assignments to help me better understand who I am, what I value, and my future goals.
Through these discussions, homework assignments, and Iris’ suggested readings and podcasts, I now understand why I react in certain situations, and have taken proactive steps to stop my bad habits. I also now understand what growth means to me, and how to take action to grow where I want to in work and in my personal life.
Iris’ is super knowledgable, very well-​read, and asks insightful questions to help you find what questions you really want to answer, and how to answer them yourself.

Iris makes good use of our coaching time by being well prepared, listening to my challenges and honing in on ways to surpass them, and being flexible and open minded when I need a new tactic. All done with a good sense of humor and a smile.

I’ve gotten so much out of working with her over the years and I finally realized that it was about time that I write a review about my experience.
I’ll start by saying that she is extremely professional and trustworthy, which is the foundation of any relationship.
