Best tailors in the city. I’ve been to over 15 tailors in the bay area and these ladies are the most incredibly reliable and understand fit. There machinery is very high end and they work very hard to make strict deadlines. They are also very sweet and kind.
As for the 1 star review From Rose S. — I think its pretty petty to write a 1 star review based on the fact that you needed to get your wedding dress done in 2 days. Like any wedding vendor they would think your nuts and certainly not work with you. You also act completely entitled that they can slow other people’s orders down because you didn’t plan ahead. It sounds like you did a really crappy job of planning your wedding and you shouldn’t effect other people’s business based on your poor planning and stupidity. Also, discussing about how they were arguing in Chinese is racist because I doubt you even knew what they were saying. Cantonese & Mandarin are tonal languages and perhaps they sound a bit harsh to the untrained ear. They speak Chinese to themselves because this is their first language and the language they speak with their families. If it sounds like arguing to you then that is your ignorant opinion and it shouldn’t be on Unilocal.You also didn’t get any work done from here so you just sound like a spiteful insecure bridezilla.

Don’t be deterred by the «hole in the wall» vibe of this place — both the ladies here do great work! I had had them alter one of my evening dresses and some pairs of jeans in the past several years. When it came down to finding a place to alter my now husband’s wedding tux, I took a leap of faith and brought it here. They took in the waistband, hemmed the pants, and shortened the sleeves of the jacket and shirt. The tux fit perfectly after alterations, and they accommodated our expedited one week turnaround time request. Now that I know I can trust them with suits, I’ll be coming back for all our alterations needs.

I called to ask if they can help me to alter my wedding gown, the lady on the phone said it can be done and for me to come a day later at 11 am, there were 2 ladies over there, I explained once again what I need and one of them told me they don’t have the time for it, then them both started to argue in Chinese.
They told me to try it on and after some more arguing they gave me a price of 250 $ and told me I better do it my self and save the money.

Bottom line: both ladies are fantastic and the alterations they made to my 3-​piece suit were perfect. I will bring my clothes here from now on.
I called frantically 6 days before leaving for my friend’s wedding on the east coast hoping they could alter my 3-​piece suit before then. When they said yes, I was initially skeptical because suit alterations usually take longer. I went in and did a fitting to see how much work needed to be done. TWO more fittings at my request and 4 days later, iI had a suit that fit perfectly.
They went above and beyond what I asked and really catered to my rushed timeline.
Needless to say, I was the best looking fellow at the wedding.

We’ve had many alterations done here over the past few years — tailoring my husbands suits, hemming pants, taking in the waistline on my skirts, etc. They do consistently good work at a fair price. Last week they did a beautiful job altering my daughter’s formal dress. They took in the fitted bust and shortened the gown length (outer skirt plus liner) — total $ 50. I recommend the ladies highly.

I took in two suits, they did a perfect job on both. They said they could do it quickly but I told them no rush but still did the job under the original date.
I will take my business here from now on.

Great quality work, friendly, not too expensive! My goto for all hems. This is an old-​school shop; cash box, smile when you walk through the door, hard workers.

My friend and tailor of 20+ finally retired so I’ve been searching for a good replacement for a while. Thought I’d take a chance on this spot based on the reviews here
I had two suits that needed taking in and altering in several ways. The ladies did a wonderful job implementing my desired fit. The jacket fits well and they successfully took the «Balloon» out of both pairs of slacks.
The ladies are super friendly and relaxed, and really take their time in making sure the fit looks good before you walk out the door. Their little studio is well-​situated right next to Japantown Center, easy to get in and out of. I would definitely go there again!

The two women who work here are just fantastic. Good, honest people with fair pricing. If you need thing rushed, they can get it done. I’ve done everything from hemming yoga pants to adjusting a bridesmaid dress here.

Here’s what I want at a tailor:
1) quality work
2) good prices
3) friendly staff.
Hong Kong fulfills all three, with high marks for quality of work. Highly recommended.

Betty is the absolute BEST!!! She can make anything fit, is a pleasure to work with, and charges a fair price. I’ve taken half my wardrobe to her and am always thrilled with the outcome.

A pleasure to work with! I had a very difficult dress alteration with lots of beads etc. and I’m very happy with the work. And the price is very reasonable!

What can I say — super nice, older asian women who remind me of my aunties. They do a great job on hemming and repairs, super cheap, very fast. NOTHING to complain about. I would not hesitate to take major alterations to them as I saw the finished product of a dress a woman had ask them to make from material she provided them (copying one of her favorite dress/​designs).

2 things stand out. Had a jacket from Muji to alter. Particularly tricky fabric to sew, soft, textured fabric. They did a wonderful job.
Second, brought a custom tailored suit in for a slight alteration in the pants. After she reviewed the tailoring, she suggested that to tear down the pants and restitch them would probably not deliver better results.
Honest folks, good work… Can’t ask for anything more. They know their stuff. Had a conversation with them today about the three industrial Juki sewing machines they keep in house to use for different types of fabric for best results.
Will continue to use these folks for all future alterations. They’re trustworthy on multiple levels.
