Maralyn — THANK YOU for providing the wedding cake, petit-​four desserts, and cake loaves for our wedding weekend in August 2015 at The Holly Farm! We loved the cake design which matched the wedding colors and floral arrangements. Also the dense chocolate cake inside was DELICIOUS. Thank you for working seamlessly with Wendy at Too Caterers to transport the desserts for the event. Posting a few photos :)

This review is 15 years late. But I will never forget the wedding cake that came from this bakery. It had blueberries and cream and such a delicate beauty. I didnt want to eat it. But it was beyond delicious perfect for or june 2001 wedding. Even to this day people ask where that cake came from?! I was asked just last week from a niece of mine who is getting married next year where I got that cake! Not my wedding dress ir tge flowers but the cake. LOL. However we got married in s.f. and had the reception at hotel nikko.

I first have to say that Marylyn was great to work with — easy communication, and one of the rare bakeries to make a vegan wedding cake. We had our wedding in Yosemite, and had picked up the cake from Marylyn in San Francisco. It didn’t travel very well, and by the end of the night, the bottom layer had fallen in on itself. I gave Marylyn a call and we were able to work something out to my satisfaction. We covered the bottom layer with flowers and used it for the wedding. People didn’t notice, but they did notice that the cake was delicious.

Maralyn was super sweet and creative on designing a Barbie theme birthday cake for my best friend 24^th birthday. This was my first time planning a custom cake, therefore I was pretty nervous. The outcome was amazing and it shock everyone at the party! The birthday girl got tear up because she never have a glamorous cake like that! The cake taste delicious as well. The inside was chocolate cake with strawberry fillings. I will definitely come back to Maralyn for all my cake planning now on. :)

I’m a little late in writing this review, but the conversation regarding our wedding cake comes up so often that I have to comment on it.
Maralyn really listened to not just the flavors I wanted, but the design and style of the cake as well. The tasting was easy, and allowed us to try fresh samples of the fillings and really decide what we wanted for that day. The people sitting here saying they wanted a larger sample– seriously, do you go to Costco and demand a larger plastic cup? NO– it’s free people, it’s not for you to over indulge which is why it’s called a TASTING. If you want a fat piece of cake go to a bakery like everyone else and stop expecting a customized cake before you even meet the woman. Sorry, rant over.
I had a small wedding, just twenty people including my husband and I, and this cake is still a major topic! I had a vintage, old school San Francisco style dinner at the Marines Memorial Hotel and this cake became a part of the décor since it was so well designed. I wanted something rich and went with the chocolate ganache, chocolate cake, with an espresso and raspberry filling. The cake was moist and probably the best chocolate cake I have ever had. My now mother in-​law who is a baker as well, even mentioned how delicious it was and that most cakes with fondant usually have that sugary after taste. This cake was far from that, and probably would have gone better with a large glass of milk than cocktails but it’s a wedding and not my couch so champagne was the drink of choice!
Maralyn made the entire process easy on me, even set-​up the cake while we were taking pictures, and placed flowers cascading down the side. All in all, I have zero complaints and hope she continues working since I plan on getting a cake for the bridal shower I’m hosting and my future niece or nephew! We tried the lemon cream filling and it was to die for — perfect for any baby shower or bridal shower!
I am most excited for our 1^st wedding anniversary this October where we can order the top tier of our cake to commemorate the day and not have the freezer box cake that most traditional couples do. Call me crazy, but a fresh cake in the same style of our wedding sounds a lot more appetizing than one that was shoved in the back of my freezer for a year. SO thank you Maralyn for not just making our day memorable but also giving us something look forward to after our first year together.

I had a cake tasting with Maralyn and she was super accommodating — even made a mini cheesecake after I told her we both love cheesecake. Everything was delicious and she had great ideas to work within our budget. My partner and I decided to go a completely different route with dessert but if we were having cake at our wedding we would be 100% be hiring Maralyn, hands down. I would highly recommend!

The cake for our wedding came with the wedding package we booked through Hotel Nikko. With any wedding package you never know what to expect but Maralyn was a gem. We met over our cake tasting and the cake was far more than what I expected. The cake was moist which is always a plus in my book and the flavor combinations and filling choices were exceptional. I only wish we had full slices instead of bite size portions :). We designed our cake and the rest was history. A few days before the wedding I was feeling like I wanted to simplify the cake a bit because we had a specific theme for our wedding. Maralyn was so accommodating and understanding. She made the changes with no hesitation. On the day of the wedding I couldn’t have dreamt of a prettier cake. It was absolutely stunning. Our guests were so impressed and some even thought the cake was fake because of how well it was executed :) I would definitely recommend Have Your Cake for your next event or wedding. You won’t be dissapointed.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars!!! Maralyn made the cake for our wedding this summer. Her cake was the talk of the wedding… not my dress, not the food, not the music… the cake!!! It was the best cake I’ve ever had, and all of our guests said the same thing. Some days, I simply crave Maralyn’s cake, and I know that nothing else will do because Maralyn has spoiled me forever!!!

We all have tasted cake at a wedding… We all have not tasted Maralyn’s cake at a wedding.
I had never tasted a cake at a wedding that I liked before. So when we had our cake tasting, I though, «OK, it good, but it won’t be like that on our wedding day. Wow, was I wrong. 7 years ago, she created the cake for our wedding and to this day people still talk about how good the cake tasted.
That alone should be enough to sell you on just how good her cake is. But just for good measures, I still get a cake from her for my wife’s birthday every year. (It is the only cake, my wife will eat).
Do yourself a flavor for yourself and your guests. You will not be disappointed.

For me, enjoying a «Have your Cake» masterpiece is truly a family affair. Since I can remember Maralyn has indulged us with her stunning cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, and pretty much every other special milestone (most recently for my Wedding). An artist in the true sense of the word, she can successfully realize any challenge you throw her way, but most importantly… her cakes are HANDS DOWN the most delicious cakes you will find. Years of experience, great suggestions, calm, reliable, kind, look no further for your Cakery!

Maralyn made the cake for our recent wedding. My wife found her last year while searching for a baker, she had a picture of the style cake that she wanted, and Maralyn replied that she had made the very cake that my wife was using for her demo picture. We set up a tasting appointment and she provided us with better pictures of her work and a delicious sample of vegan chocolate cake. Setting up the details for the big day were pretty easy — we provided her with some decorations for the cake table and she was there on time and got everything set up just as we wanted. The cake was a hit — no one even knew it was vegan! I would recommend Have Your Cake to anyone looking for a wedding cake!

Found Maralyn on Unilocal after searching google for tripple decker birthday cakes. It was my friends 30^th birthday and I was in charge of obtaining the cake and decided to go all out. Maralyn was very helpful in advising me what types of flavors go together, and I emailed her a picture of a cake that I wanted it modeled after. We went with a double decker lemon cake with chantillay cream & fresh raspberries & strawberry filling, with pink fondant on the bottom & white fondant on the top. She decorated the bottom by quilting it and put little glistening candies around both cakes and a pretty silver lace wrapped around the base of each cake. a large 3 and 0 were written in a pink frosting, with Happy Birthday Stacey stylishly written at the base.
Needless to say, the cakes looked so beautiful we refused to have the cake brought out as a «surprise», and instead put it on a cake rack for everyone to see so it could be appreciated. We bought some fabric rose petals at a party store & a tiara to deck it out even further (I bargained for a flat price, which would not include those kinds of extras). All night and the following day we heard compliment after compliment on the cake. Not only was it beautiful, it was absolutely delicious. Multiple guests fought over taking home the left overs!
She was also kind & pleasant to deal with. Definitely recommend her if you want an out of the ordinary, special custom cake experience.

I feel like I have found an invaluable treasure in Have Your Cake! Wish they had been in business when I got married. Maralyn Tabatsky has it all going on — she is a true artist, a dedicated baker that creates really DELICIOUS cakes using quality ingredients, AND best of all she is completely committed to delivering the cake of your dreams. My favorite cake that Maralyn created for our family was a Beatles themed 50^th birthday cake for my husband… the guests raved at the whimsy and design of the cake, and when they tasted it were even more blown away. Can’t wait to order my next special occasion cake from Maralyn!

Wow. Five stars for Have Your Cake for baking the most delicious wedding cake I have ever eaten. Maralyn was so knowledgable as she walked us through her portfolio and the cakes we tasted were divine. She was willing to work with us on budget and design and was really responsive whenever I had any questions leading up to my wedding day.
Our wedding cake was so lovely and our guests haven’t stopped talking about how great it tasted. We’re already looking forward to anniversary cake! Thank you!

I live in Los Angeles, but was event planning a baby shower in San Francisco. I needed a Circus Themed Cake. I called and left a message. Maralyn called me back right away. We discussed my needs and decided that the guest of honor would make an appointment to design the cake. The cake was complicated. She wanted one similar to one she like on Pinterest and the baby shower was only 3 weeks away! Maralyn took the job and not only made a the cake match the invitations, but it was the most delectable cake I have ever eaten. The best part was that she delivered it and assembled it on site. Thank you Maralyn! We will be ordering another one for the Red Egg Ginger Party.

I just want to say that our wedding cake was the best wedding cake I’ve ever had at a wedding. When we came in for a tasting, Jeff and I knew we wanted a raspberry chocolate cake and we were pleasantly surprised with a sample of the exact cake that we wanted for our wedding with real fruit in the filling. Her cakes are very moist and the chocolate mousse filling with raspberries made for a very tasty filling. It was truly amazing. Maralyn has years of experience baking cakes and it shows through her work. Everyone at our wedding complimented us on the flavors and how well decorated the cake looked. It had white coating on the outside with royal blue swirls on the outside! Wonderfully done and matched our party favors!
I’m truly thankful that when I googled raspberry chocolate cake that Maralyn’s «Have your Cake» was at the top of the list. She has definitely made a future customer out of Jeff and I and we’re looking forward to our one year anniversary to taste our cake again!

As a professional pastry chef, I hardly ever write Unilocal reviews about colleagues in the same field as me, but this is one exception I am happy to make.
I met Maralyn over 10 years ago over the phone when I was planning my own wedding and researching wedding cake shops. From the first 2 minutes of the phone conversation with her, I KNEW she was the one I wanted to make my wedding cake.
I got married in 2002 at the City Club in San Francisco and while the venue is breathtaking and elegant, to this day everyone who attended can only keep raving about the wedding cake. Maralyn had such a fabulous bed-​side manner and working with her to plan and construct my custom cake was so much fun!
Over the years, I’ve gotten to know her as a colleague and as a friend. I have the highest respect for her work and the quality of her products. Having apprenticed in her shop while I was in culinary school. I can verify that her standards for cleanliness, professionalism and workmanship are the highest I have ever seen. She’s made me the cake designer that I am today.
Everyone I’ve ever referred to Maralyn also has nothing but the highest praise for the cakes she’s made.

I had come here for a cake tasting. When I arrived, Maralyn had us wait a about 10 minutes before she was ready for us. I guess she was waiting until we got there before she finished plating our cakes? She was really nice, buuut…
OMG… SUPER SMALLEST CAKE TASTING EVER. 4 itty bitty cake flavors but not even a full slice. Not even half a slice. Size was equivalent to how much you would spoon-​feed a 1 year old.
How can I even taste the flavor of the cake when it’s like a crumb in my mouth. And you’re telling me I have to share THAT with my fiancé? I would at least like to take two bites of the cake before deciding if I wanted to spend $ 800 on it. Literally a cake TASTING. From what I could tell, some of the cakes were actually good, not overly sweet. some, not so great.
She was really knowledgeable about discussing designs and constructing the actual cake layers with the flavors we liked.
We will not use her for our wedding however as the price was not as affordable as we thought.
Photos make the cake sizes look supersize. Imagine it 100 times smaller than that. The plate is not a full size plate but a tiny saucer. I should’ve put a coin next to it for scaling purposes.
