Have frequented Haines Gallery for years. They sometimes have exhibitions I find intriguing and sometimes fall short IMO. However it is one of a very short list of galleries in San Francisco that you have s good chance of seeing some interesting work. I am giving them 4 stars for stepping up their game with their current Ai Wei Wei exhibition/installation. It puts them in a whole new league. I think their recent gallery renovation is successful as well.

I came here for an alum event that the art director gracious held Wednesday evening. She likes to bring in little well known Asian artists and showcase it in her gallery. This is located right on Geary(across the street from Agent Provocateur). Thanks Cheryl for hosting the event!

This is an awesome secret little gallery stashed away downtown, the work here is almost always exceptional and they really try to bring in artists from around the world who work in a variety of mediums. You have to take an elevator up, and don’t be intimidated the people behind the counter are friendly and know their stuff, ask them anything about the exhibitions. There is also a cool photo gallery next door. If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed while caught up in the frenzy of holiday shopping stop by for some inspiration and peace of mind.

One of my favorite galleries in the 49 Geary Building. I’ve seen Robert Irwin Pieces there, and of course, my favorite living painter – Darren Waterston. They also represent Photographer Joel Sternfeld and sculptor David Nash. Nice people working there, too.
