Golden Gate Tow

I don’t understand the negative reviews for this place. My car’s axle broke on the top of Bernal, and Golden Gate arrived within 30 minutes and cost SIGNIFICANTLY less than quotes I received from other towing companies in the city. They did a great job, the driver was friendly, the truck was clean, and the price was fantastic. He also gave us a ride to the repair shop, which I appreciated. FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY.

Completely f***ing SCAM company. Will never consider it.
My vehicle was towed by them at Webster St. right before I came out from Safeway. When I called, the person was very impatient and told me to go figure their address myself. I got a UBER to their place (damn far…) and immediately found several groups of people suffered from their shit tow business, too! All from the same place. It seems they are intentionally monitoring and charging people that parked at Webster St.
The payment was insanely $ 550, and the guy hiding in their citadel was totally an impatient idiot mumbling all their f****ing scam fees (tow fee, front-​wheel fee, after-​hour fee, weekend fee, yes, they basically ripped you off on every possible item).
I paid and I learned three things:
1. Parking experience in SF is horrible, but Golden Gate Tow Inc. takes it to another level.
2. Watch out for Webster St., because Golden Gate Tow Inc. is watching you there every minute.
3. Some technology (like self-​driving) will bury Golden Gate Tow Inc., soon, for public good :)

Terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE.
I call this place around 1 am asking for a quote since tires had been stuck in the dirt in a parking spot I was in at ocean beach. They told me it was $ 100 to pull me out so I say I’ll call back if I can’t find it cheaper. I didn’t, so I call back around 1:30 am and request a tow. They said they’ll send their guy when he’s available. Fast forward to an hour later (around 2:30 am), I call back to see if their guy is still on his way. They say he had a crime scene in Millbrae and I’d have to wait till he’s done. Reluctantly I say that’s fine and wait again. 2 hours later (4:30 am) the truck is still not there so I call again to see if he’s coming. They said his guy had to deal with another thing (it sounded like he had forgot about us) and his driver was getting off at 6:30 so he probably wouldn’t be able to make it. I basically waited for a tow truck for 3 hours that was never coming to me in the first place. Very unprofessional and totally ruined my night. Thankfully another company came quickly and helped us out about 30 minutes later. I would never recommend them to anybody. If you are reading this right now because you need a tow, don’t even bother… Call another company!

Wow worst customer service.
It’s 4am, I just got off work an hour ago and my car dies on me. I contact my insurance for help and they stated they contacted this company to help me. ETA is 510am so I call them because they say they’re local. Once I called, guy picked up and basically said they didn’t get a notification from my insurance company. They said the wait time is 2 hours (UHH… Are you guys busy or what? It’s 4 in the morning I doubt you guys have anything planned) and they said (this really ticked me off) YOU SHOULD PROBABLY CALL YOUR INSURANCE FOR HELP.
… Really? I just called them and they referred me to you. This company still didn’t help me after calling 3 times.
You shouldn’t be in business if you’re a towing company that doesn’t even help people in need of assistance. Your lack of knowledge really frustrates me. If I could give 0 stars I would.

I drove up to visit family in the bay area for Thanksgiving. The 8 hour drive was not fun especially since I had caught a cold the day before. I couldnt even talk my voice was completely gone. Once we finally got up to the bay area, it was freezing. Being a san diego girl, i was in shorts and sandals lol. We went to the mall to buy warm clothes. As soon as I got out my car, I noticed I had left my keys in the ignition and my car automatically locks when you get out. Of course i was freaken annoyed cuz i was freezing with a cold and no sweater. I called these guys, i guess my cousin had used them in the past and Fransicso came within 10 minutes! I was back in my car within another 5! Thank you Golden Gate tow. Ill remember to not do that again tho lol

My car was scratched in transport. The manager named Marcos initially assured me that it would be taken care of within two weeks, after weeks went by, Marcos would not come to the phone. *Follow-​up* — Per Marcos’s request here on Unilocal,I called him to discuss this review. He came on the line and, initially, he would not admit that he was Marcos. Once he realized why I was calling, he admitted who he was. I explained the situation and he said «thanks for calling» and hung up.

Had to tow my electric bike after being tagged by a car and Ricardo the driver was really great at working with me to not damage the bike further and was very careful in getting the bike to my favorite eBike shop NewWheel bernal heights

Driver showed up 30 mins before the estimated time to arrival. He was professional and helpful. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience considering the circumstances.

This place is nothing but a scam! They’ve been charging my company for towing they’ve never done. I’ve tried contacting them, Derick hangs up my calls when I mention my companies name. Avoid this place at all costs

Really bad experience with this company. I had an appointment at 7:30 I Called with an hour and a half of advanced. After 1 hour I called to check if the towing truck was arriving soon and they told me I never called them. Really bad service. Plus the customer service is really bad.

SO INCREDIBLY RUDE. I am not one to get online and write things like this but I am appalled. As if your car breaking down isn’t stressful enough? I had a situation where I needed a tow and would be there to sign when my car arrived. Had someone waiting with the car to pick it up but they were not comfortable doing this. Fine. But kindly explain that you can’t do this. You do not raise your voice to a complete stranger who is clearly upset and in a terrible position. Really poor form and totally inappropriate. I still cringe when I think about it. Awful.

I had a great, great experience with Golden Gate Tow. My car completely died going up 17^th and I was forced to park it in front of someone’s driveway. I called around to a few tow places and some of them charged up to 145 bucks to take my Durango to my apt (less than 10 mins away), not to mention there would be a 1.5 hour wait. When I called Golden Gate they were extremely polite and professional, as well as understanding. Not only did they charge me a very reasonable fee, they came earlier than expected (by 30 mins!), which meant a lot, seeing as it was night and I was blocking someone’s driveway. The driver not only got my car to my place, he also parked it in it’s spot, for which I was very grateful. All this took less time and money than most of the other places I called. Thank you guys, I appreciate the awesome customer service and promptness, not to mention one of the friendliest drivers I’ve met in SF!

So this here is the situation my sisters car had 2 flat tires and was towed from her work to our home and she did not have the time to have them changed the same day. So the following day we had her insurance set up the tow from our home to the garage that normally services her car. Upon arrival the driver insisted he could not angle his wheel lift tow truck to pick up my sister’s car. Which is funny because the other company Broadmoor Tow (company I would do business with instead of this joke of a Tow company.) was able to maneuver her car into the same spot with the exact same type of truck no problem.
The driver proceeded to park his truck halfway down the block from our house and drove my sisters car in reverse with not 1 but 2 flat tires up to his truck when he raised the vehicle onto the metal yoke he damaged the rear bumper but said it was already damaged. Which is funny because the car had been right out of the body shop about a month prior and the rear bumper was just replaced. And on top of that he lowered the car back on the ground because he knew he had positioned the yoke improperly and had to set it back so it didn’t hit the bumper… When we left I asked him if he had the address to the destination he said he had the directions to the shop. I followed in my own vehicle and he ended up going to exact opposite direction for about 3 blocks and then he circled around and then he started to go into the right direction.
When we finally arrived at the shop he did the whole park the truck and drive the car again. Even the mechanic was asking what he was doing and at that point I had enough of it and asked him why he simply didn’t place the car on shops driveway. And he asked if I was tow truck driver. I had no idea what I was talking about. I’ve had many cars towed and been with friends and family when they needed a tow and I have never experienced such unprofessional driver in my life. I asked the driver for his name and he gave me a some BS made up sounding name and drove off.

These guys helped us with a really hard case — our 1957 Mercedes which was in a friend’s backyard in a ridiculously hard-​to-​get-​to spot. We were almost certain they would never be able to get it out. The car’s tie rods were broken, so the wheels wouldn’t turn. And the car was so old and rusty that it was practically falling apart.
The driver showed up early (he waited half an hour for us) and he clearly knew what he was doing — he got the car on the bed against all laws of physics, and he got it into the city, where we asked him to put it into another impossible spot. It was an incredible amount of work on his part, but he was patient and thoughtful the entire time. Truly an expert.
I called various tow truck companies, looking for the best price, and these guys were it. They were also easy to reach on the phone, helpful and personable. I would totally work with them again.

Complete f-​ing scam. Towed my car just 3 minutes before I came back to it. Had my car for no more than 30 minutes and charged me $ 530 to get it out. $ 260 for the tow, $ 60 for special tools (they had to tow it out by the rear wheels and it’s front wheel drive; WTF), $ 130 for a weekend fee, and $ 80 for an after hours fee?! Totally unbelievable. These guys are total scum.

These fuckers ditched me on the freeway. Driver gave me some shit about him not being able to change a tire on the freeway so he started to escort me to the exit and then he turned his lights off and drove off. I called to complain, the guy came back and said «its illegal for him to change a tire on the freeway. WTF is your job you you lazy fuck? I told him I called someone else and he put up his hands and walked back to his truck. I’m literally writing this in my car while waiting for the other tow truck comes. I agree with Hernon, I will now wish this place burns down.
Next day edit: A great other company, Broadmoor tow came in 20 min. The guy was kinda funny. He changed it on the spot without an issue and I was on my way, like I should have been.
Now that I had a chance to calm down and think about what happened in a rational way I think I should say that I was too fucking nice! To the owner of GG tow, fuck you and your drivers.

I have called… literally…11 times to try and get my initial receipt of a tow I had them do over a month ago. I have been told I would receive a call back 4 times and never got a call back and have yet to get a receipt… Understanding few people would ever rate a towing company for anything other than having their car towed involuntarily, this business is still the most mismanaged, customer insulting company I have ever done business with.
Seriously…all I want is my fucking receipt. Is that really so much to ask?

I would actually give this NO stars but unfortunately I cannot. My Audi Roadside assistance booked me with this company for a simple battery jump within the hour. I called the company and asked when would the service provider be arriving and the «woman who shall not be named» said he still has 10 minutes to arrive, in a annoyed tone.
I’m already pissed that I’m stuck in a garage with a dead battery late for my service appointment, I really didn’t need to hear that type of attitude.
I asked her to have the driver bring the battery pack up to the 3^rd floor of the garage; instead of driving the beast of a truck (also to avoid the cost of the ticket to enter the garage). She replied the tow truck couldn’t be parked on the side of the street– ummmmm… last time I checked tow trucks hang out where ever they want. It would LITERALLY take 5 minutes to jump my car and be out of here.
BAD service and REALLY LATE. I will make sure to call Audi Roadside to never use them again.

Well… seems my experience was the opposite. These guys are awesome! Totally recommend them 100%.
My car was towed from a private lot that was recently rented by a school downtown — been parking there for years… no problem. I was gone for exactly an hour — came back. No car. Called GGT & the guy was really personable. Told me to call the school maybe there was a misunderstanding. Talked with the school — I am also a teacher btw. Yes, misunderstanding — you pay $ 100.00 and don’t park in the lot again. No problem.
Hoped in a cab and went to the City Tow Yard. Got my number and witnessed two folks ahead of me lose their s$#t because their car was missing all kinds of valuables. The City Tow’s response: sorry — not our problem — we’re not responsible for missing items. Great. My cash, my camera, my computer, all kinds of goodies were in my car. Awesome. My number is called — wrong tow yard. My car is not there.
Get back in cab and go to GGT’s yard. Their staff were incredibly warm and respectful. Walked me back to my car — EVERYTHING was there — and told me there would be no charge due to the misunderstanding.

They charged $ 420 for towing my car, «storage» fee for less than 2 hrs, «electric car» fee because it supposedly cost more to tow, and «gate» fee for I don’t even know.
That and when I got there they weren’t there and I had to wait 20 minutes in front of their fortress citadel of metal gates and brick walls.
but it didn’t ruin my day but boy are these guys fooey!
