Geary Chiropractic Clinic

This is way overdue review. I’ve been to Geary Chiropractic for years. The combination of Dr. Anthony Chau, Dr. Tram Le, Dr. Terena Miller, and Alice makes for a great atmosphere and practice. Professional, Passion, full of knowledge and compassion. The clinic and rooms are clean and the serene décor adds a calming atmosphere to the patient. I was first referred to the practice due to an injury from a car accident. To be honest, I was pretty anxious to see him. I’ve never been adjusted before. But Dr. Anthony Chau has a very calming nature about him. He helped me relaxed and I became much more reassured. Although it did take a bit for me to get used to the cracking sounds during the neck adjustments. Can you blame me? I did watch too many action movies with characters getting their neck cracked and broken. But rest assured, you’ll be in great care with Geary Chiropractic Clinic. I always look forward to going to the clinic on adjustment day. I also have the best naps there. Thank you Geary Chiropractic Clinic!

I’m a regionally ranked competitive master female runner. Two and a ½ weeks before my marathon, I had back spasms. Dr. Anthony Chou, was booked, but Alice, the receptionist, fit me into a last minute appointment. Dr. Chou was very cautious and carefully outlined a plan of intervention. After one treatment, I was able to run 12 miles with an ache but the pain (which was a 9) was gone. Twice weekly, I saw Dr. Chou and Dr. Le. Because of their expertise, I ran the CIM Marathon scoring a personnel record and winning the Athena Division for women! I highly recommend Dr. Chou and Dr. Le. You will be in experienced and expert hands!

Sorry for the late review on this. Just wanted to say that Dr. Anthony Chau rocks. I’m stubborn when it comes to going to a doctor, especially chiropractic, but I lived with back pain (real bad pain) for about 8 months before going to see someone. I have a 2 yr old, and all the lifting probably is what contributed to my problem. Anyways, don’t expect a significant problem to be fixed overnight. Be realistic people. But if you follow his recommendations, you won’t be sorry. His adjustments are very good, and he does not rush anything, and makes you comfortable, especially if you’re like me, and do not like even the thought of getting an adjustment to your spine. He’s legit, and I’d go back anytime if the problem arises again.

Getting in to an accident is not fun. Getting into two majour accidents within three years is definitely NOT fun at all. Dr. Chau is an awesome person; he is passionate about his work and genuinely cared for his patients from beginning to end. Knowing that I had to leave the country for three months, he even referred me to a local chiropractor in Hong Kong so my treatment sessions would not be interrupted. Years have passed, he still remembered the stuff we talked about during treatment sessions. Straight up awesome. Thanks Dr. Chau!

I have had nothing but excellent care in this clinic! I was nervous during my first visit a few years ago but Dr. Chau put me at ease immediately. He took the time to explain spine health and what good chiropractic maintenance can do to promote it. Moreover, Drs. Chau, Miller and Le have the most comforting bedside manners. They will make you come back even though nothing is ailing you. :) Truly and unequivocally, highly recommended!

Visited Dr. Chau after an auto accident last year. After three months of treatment I feel much better. I returned again this year after hurting my back weightlifting.
Dr. Chau explains his treatments and his staff is very professional and courteous. He grew up in the Richmond district! I highly recommend his office to those who are looking for a chiropractor.

Dr Chau has a great patient demeanor, and remembers shit you told him MONTHS ago. It’s ridiculous. This office never keeps you waiting for too long and always has an appointment time within the week (if not the SAME DAY) available.
These are affordable adjustments (less than $ 50) and it includes a bunch of perks like electrotherapy and ultra sounds. It’s like a mini physical therapy session before you get adjusted. I have only been to two chiropractic offices, and their pre-​adjustment therapies really loosen you up and make your body ready to be aligned again.
I just really really love how easy it is to schedule an appointment… I hate leaving voicemails, but I do it anyways because Alice is a no-​fuss (but SUPER nice) kind of receptionist who is efficient when she calls you back. Their only downside? No online booking. You can’t have it all.

I’m supposed to write this review long time ago, every time on my way back from Dr Anthony Chau’s office I was thinking about it, but never had a time. Sorry Dr. Anthony.
So, what I would like to say: You are here and reading my post probably because you are trying to make decision such as «should I go to this office or not? let’s see what people say». I can tell as veteran of back pain (struggling with this for about 20+ year) — YES, you should and you will never regret about it. I’ve seen a lot of chiropractors in the US (I’m originally from Eastern Europe and know there one doctor who multiple times saved my life in terms of back pain but now I’m far away) and biggest problem is they are usually afraid to perform a real manipulation on your back, the procedure is all about manual therapy but they just usually don’t want to take responsibility. I’ve to admit that in 90% of cases this is a sad truth, but NOT in Dr Chau case.
You can count on real adjustment in this office, you will come in with a great pain in your back and then 40 minutes later or so you will be outside with a great feeling of pain relief you will feel younger and healthy right away. In some cases he will honestly advise you to visit a specialist (yes, this guy can see something that some doctors will definitely miss on you). In this case you are better to follow his advice. Also I’ve never had an issue with coverage on all procedures that Dr. Anthony has performed on my back (unlike in some other clinics when chiropractor tries to charge your insurance company for 2 hours long physiotherapy then this claim (for about $ 800) gets declined and becomes your responsibility, the reason of declining is mentioned in Blue Cross letter is usually: «we can’t justify any physiotherapy that takes 2 hours in sequence»). So I pay only co-​payment which is $ 30 in my case, the remaining part is completely covered by my insurance. This also makes me believe that «Geary Chiropractic Clinic» is well known and established care provider.
This is my own experience and I hope this review will help you to make a right decision.

Dr. Chau was great. I went in for a few treatments and he really took the time to explain the anatomy of our bodies and how he will be able to make adjustments to reduce soft tissue and back pain. Alice at the front desk was also very friendly and prompt with scheduling.

I had never been to a chiropractor before and was very nervous. The doctors here are very patient and explain everything to you about your injury with xrays and diagrams.

Dr. Chau does good adjustments and has a good bedside manner, but he’s not so good at offering longterm solutions.
I got x-​rays done and he said that the curvature in my neck was too straight and I had one leg longer then the other-​that combined with my no formal exercise lifestyle caused some recent backpain. I visited him 4 times in a month and each time he did an adjustment but wouldn’t tell me anything I could be doing at home to help fix my back. I would do research on the internet and ask him questions like «would this exercise help?» «would insoles help» and he would always answer me with a variation of «I can’t suggest any exercises because you haven’t come to see me enough yet.» The last time I went he told me that I should start exercising-​join a gym or take a yoga class. Thanks doc… I never would’ve thought of that. I stopped going because I couldn’t afford $ 50 a week for a back crack and vague non-​answers.

Back adjustments are addicting.
My old insurance company (Kaiser) didn’t seem to think that chiropractic care was necessary, so I dropped them (for countless other reasons). I had this lower back pain from lugging around cute, but gigantic bags. I’ve always said «fashion over function,» but it’s not so fashionable to be limping from pain. Dr. Chau is friendly and personable, but most importantly makes you feel comfortable and knows what he’s doing. He explains in detail why you’re feeling pain and what you can do to correct it.
The best visit was when I got whiplash in my neck from a snowboarding accident… more of a mishap. I tried to ignore the pain, but it seemed to get worse. After one visit to Dr. Chau, and a few snaps, cracks, and adjustments, the pain eased right away, and the discomfort simply disappeared in a few days.
Never tried any other place, and I may never.

Geary Chiropractic Clinic «ROCKS»!!! I have seen other chiropractors in the past and Dr. Chau is definitely the best ever. I live in the East Bay and drive all the way to the San Francisco to Geary Chiropractic Clinic to see Dr. Chau is definitely worth it. I walked in with back pain and walked out feeling better after the treatment and adjustment.
He is very detail oriented and tells you everything and lets you know why you are in pain. The office is very pleasant and relaxing too!!! This is the first time I have gone to a Chiropractor and they actually care about their patients.

I literally just walked out of the office feeling taller.
After years of chronic back pain, and 6 different chiropractors (due to moves, insurance changes, style), Dr. Chau is really the best, and I’m glad I’m back in the Richmond to take advantage of his skill, expertise, and care.
I hadn’t seen him in a year and a half and he remembered all about my personal life asking me questions, getting the update. All while doing a full spinal adjustment that ended in the neck.
OH, MY, GAWD. It was amazing. I know I’ll still be sore for a day or two, but I’m so glad I went before the back pain got out of hand. So glad that I can come here again. What a gem.

This office is always very clean, I’ve never had to wait more than five minutes to be seen and appointments are always available.
I don’t want everyone to go here otherwise, there might always be a wait! But I do recommend that everyone go here. Dr. Chau can help you feel your best!

I miss Dr. Chau’s expertise now that I’ve moved to Chicago. Although I’ve found another clinic that meets my needs, I will make a point to see Dr. Chau when I’m in San Francisco on business.

This past Monday was my last session with Dr. Chau and the gang. And I have to say, it’s been an awesome experience.
The Geary Chiropractic Clinic is run by really great people. After a few visits, I found that the doctors here truly care about people as much as they care about their well being. The staff was warm, knowledgeable, and always took the time to address each of my concerns.
From day one, Dr. Chau was extremely thorough with explaining how the spine works in easy-​to-​understand terms, and how chiropractic therapy would make things better. And it worked. Session after session, I found myself looking forward to my next visit. It was that good.
And even though I wish I never got into an accident in the first place, I’m glad I found the right people to take care of me. If you get in an accident yourself, or simply have some concerns about pain in your neck, shoulders, or back, make an appointment with the Geary Chiropractic Clinic. You won’t regret it.

In this day in age of HMOs, PPOs and deteriorating health plans, it is great to see that there are still doctors out there that still care. I have never felt so much better after seeing a chiropractor. I know if I am going to continue Unilocaling for years to come, I know I need to take care of my back and I know Dr Anthony Chau will help. I would highly recommend him because simply put… he actually gives a shit. Instead of merely just cracking my spine and neck, he actually took the time to explain to me why my current posture would lead to more serious issues.
Alice, the receptionist, does a great job in getting us in and out of the office with a smile. Nice office, extremely professional, and great service. Will be coming back and referring my clients to see him.
