Not a bad place, food and drinks are ok but nothing comparable to a real French bakery. Definitely not the right place to go if you feel like trying French pastries.

A blueberry muffin is $ 2 and it was not even non-gmo nor is it organic. It was pretty good though but pricey for an averaged sized muffin.

Ate my almond and mini chocolate croissant fast to get it over with. Not at all close to what a French bakery would look and taste like here in the States. I would pass on it.

My family love this place. Good coffee with a fresh pastry. What can be better in the morning to start the day?

Not a big selection yet everything is freshly made every morning. Customer Service 5⁄5 Baguette and Raisin Bread 3⁄5 Will I return? Maybe!

I went to French Bakery recently to purchase a baguette loaf and a coffee. I’ve always found their baked goods to be freshly baked, with a soft interior inside a crunchy crust. We’ve always enjoyed buying a loaf of bread, on the weekends, to go with our homemade meals. Their coffee is excellent. It’s not too weak or too strong, and they offer both cocoa powder and cinnamon to add to my coffee. I always look for both wherever I purchase a cup, and I wasn’t disappointed. My only issue is the size of their Medium cups. While less expensive than other places, the size feels more like a Small than a Medium. If their cup sizes matched other coffee places, I’d give this café a 5-star rating. Having what feels like a Small for $ 0.25 less isn’t exactly what I want. Next time I’ll look at the price of a Large and compare. In the meantime, excellent coffee and bread. The people behind the counter are always nice to me, and it’s great for a quick chat while I wait. I’d give this café 4.5 stars instead of 4, but it’s not an option on my iPhone app.

It was a hot day in SF and I wanted to quench my thirst. I was craving for an avocado smoothie. And since I was in the neighborhood, I wanted to try French Bakery’s avocado smoothie. I was hoping this avocado smoothie was made the Vietnamese way. Which consists of freshly sliced avocado, ice and condensed milk. The smoothie was pretty much watered down. Couldn’t taste the avocado or anything at all. I was pretty much disappointed and felt jipped. The smoothie was quite expensive.

Looking for a smooth and delicious cup of coffee in the Parkside district? This is the place. Ran in, ran out, ahhh. Pastries in the case still from Bakers of Paris. Very tempting. Service was friendly.

I’ve been passing by this place for a while now and finally decided to stop in for a lunch this past Monday. I stopped in around 11:50am and it was nearly empty inside. I knew I wanted a sandwich and scanned the boards on the wall for something that caught my attention. Since I was treating myself to lunch at a new spot I decided to go for the Salami Sandwich sans Tomato and a small Hot Chocolate. After my order was taken by the polite ladies working the counter I took a seat at one of only two tables and settled in for a little reading time. My drink came quickly and was nice and hot. The taste of the Hot Chocolate was pleasant, it didn’t taste like a store bought Swiss Miss but had a rich deep chocolate taste. My sandwich came quickly after my drink and had nice warm French Bread. The bread was AMAZING but I am sad to say, that is where my amazement ended. While the meat was just fine, there was just SOLITTLE avaliable to enjoy. The lettuce overpowered everything else inside. I sat for a while enjoying my book and people watching. So many different people came and went and received great customer service, many of them seemed to be known by name, which is always a nice touch and shows that people visit regularly. This spot would be great to pick up some coffee and enjoy a book for a short period of time and maybe grab some bread to enjoy at home, but I probably wouldn’t buy another sandwich here. Total Paid: $ 7.55

French Bakery is a great neighborhood spot to get your morning caffeine/pastry fix. I feel kind of weird calling this place a bakery since I don’t think they actually bake anything here. But wherever they get their pastries from, they’re good. The orange roll is light, flaky, and not overly sweet for my tastes when the sun’s still rising. The pain au chocolat & almond croissant were also good. The drip coffee here, while not a fancy pour-over(the Brown Owl doesn’t open till 8am, too late for early commuters-this is the next best coffee you’ll find on Taraval), is more than decent. Prices are reasonable: coffee and a pastry will run you $ 3 and change. They accept credit cards for orders over $ 5. This isn’t really a place designed for one to sit down and eat, but there are a couple of tables at which you can munch on your baked goods. This is most definitely not a place to bring your laptop and expect to sit at and people watch for hours. Yet the always-friendly demeanor of the staff and cozy neighborhood feel will make you wish it was.

This coffee shop is an absolute 5 star location. Yes, the interior is rather bland, however, it has some of the best coffee in SF and for half the price of other locations. This is a family owned shop and the women at the counter know most of the people who come in and, if they don’t know you yet, they will strike up friendly conversation and remember your order for the next time you visit. The pastries are to die for, my personal favorites are the cinnamon croissant and jelly filled pastry. The place is cash only and I have never had a problem finding parking. Because it is so quick, many people double park outside on 20th Ave without a problem(you can get in and out in a matter of minutes). To correct a previous review, there is a bathroom just ask for it and they will show you where it is in the back.

parking around the corner if its available… otherwise down the block a little bit, but can be pretty busy sometimes. Friendly quick service as far as i’m concerned because there were 4 people ahead of me and i got my food really quickly. they have french baguettes. they have fruit and cheese danishes. They have plain croissants and special croissants(cinnamon and almond). They also have these little rolls that some use for sandwiches. I should have asked them what they were called but i didn’t buy any. BUT the FOUR people ahead of me all bought some… and then there was only one left… at !0 in the morning… so i guess thats their popular roll.

Good place to get a cup of coffee and stare out the window. The few times I’ve been here it hasn’t been busy, so service is quick. I usually just get a cup of coffee, which tastes ok. Given that it’s not blue bottle coffe, it is still decent. Prices are great, the décor is what other people describle it, very bland and simple. Also there is no restroom here, something to consider.

WHO… Usually just me, just a quick spot I can pop into to grab a cup a joe in a hurry WHAT…I’ve been here a couple of times, I’ve had a mocha & a Vietnamese coffee… both ok. Everything else on the menu just consists of really coffee… They do however have fresh bread and pastries. Favorites are the mini baguettes and fruit danishes. Lunch they also do inexpensive mini baguette sandwiches… WHEN…I’ve been here once for lunch, but the majority of times it’s for my morning coffee. Usually no wait, once in a while they may get a rush. but really no more than 2 people in line. WHERE…I never sit — always in & out. There is a counter &2 tables inside the coffee shop… & depending on the Sunset sunshine, sometimes a table or two outside. WHY… I need a coffee stat!

Some years ago, this was a Baker of Paris bakery. Great pastries and French baguettes. Flaky croissants and reasonably priced espresso coffee drinks. Favorites include the chocolate or almond croissant or the palmier. Everthing is made off premises and brought in. I think it still comes from the Baker of Paris that only does wholesale now. Day old pastries sometimes can be purchased the following a.m. Various ones are bundled in a large plastic bag for a very good price. This afternoon I felt like a pastry so bought one of two remaining chocolate croissants for $ 1.90. Average baguette or au pain is about $ 2.00+.

I love this place: though very simple inside, the food is good! I love Chai Latte — it’s so sweet and spicy!!! Mini-pastry is awesome, it makes you feel happy, though less calories. I tried their sandwich with chicken breast — it was really good. The ladies are nice, especially the one that closes at evenings.

The baked goods that I’ve tried have been straightforward and decent, just like the bakery name. No frills. Even the décor is non-descript and sterile. It’s the opposite of trendy. Most of the customers are seniors or construction worker types(not your typical French bakery patrons). The prices are quite reasonable(pastries under $ 2 each). They sell loaves of bread, baguettes, croissants, danishes, scones, muffins and rolls — and espresso drinks to go with your pastries. Most of the muffins and scones have fruit baked in. I never detect the scent of fresh baked goods, so they seem to be baked off site. They have one kind of brioche — plain($ 1.65). It was light and tender enough with a nice, glossy exterior, but I think it could use some more butter. I like mine with sugar on top and theirs was totally plain. The lemon poppyseed muffin($ 1.70) has a nice, slightly crusty top. It’s moist, tasty and quite sweet. Cash only.

This bakery is so discrete! It’s on the corner of Taraval and 21st but you’d never notice it driving by since there’s nothing flashy or eye catching about it. This isn’t Peets Coffee or some fancy schmancy bakery. It’s just a local shop that continuously provides fresh baked goods to the Sunset neighborhood. I hate to reveal my little secret… but this is the absolute BEST place for bread. It’s always fresh and smells like it just got out of the oven. I think it’s reasonably priced for the quality you receive. The pastries are delectable as well. I’m always indulging myself with their Cheese Pastry! I buy the Pain Parisian baquette for less than $ 2.00 and am able to make at least 5 sandwiches out of it. I can smell the inviting aroma from the flank steaks my father is grilling outside in the backyard. We’re going to enjoy our sandwiches thanks to French Bakery :) A cheese pastry and pain parisian baquette for a total of $ 4.55 is wallet happy!
