Foam Order

I see the San Francisco location has closed. That’s too bad. I am writing an update anyway because on a few different occasions recently I was laying in bed thinking about how comfortable my mattress is and remembered all the initial work that went into getting it this way.
Turns out Mike had been correct– the cover must have been the problem, because ever since that last time they took away my bed, removed the cover and added a thin add’l layer of foam, it’s been great.
The ONLY issue I’ve had is with the frame bolts loosening, but I got the cheapest frame and it’s not a surprise. I care about the mattress and it is still quite fantastic! I would not hesitate to purchase from another foam order location again.

There is something unscrupulous about Foam Order. We purchased a mattress back in 2012 and were specifically told it did not need to be rotated. But we’ve noticed depressions in the latex forming and so decided to do it anyway.
Today I went on their website and noticed the following quote buried in the mattress section (I don’t believe it was there when we purchased the mattress, nor did their sales staff mention it):
«Our latex mattress is a „no flip“ mattresses. The quality of the product is such that it does not require flipping. We do recommend rotating the mattress weekly! This helps to prevent any product failures.»
It’s deceiving to say no flip but in fact you have to rotate weekly to preserve the life of the foam? This is ridiculous — I don’t think I’ve ever heard of weekly mattress rotation! We have an Eastern King and it’s incredibly heavy and cumbersome to move at all, let alone weekly.
On top of this issue, we found their sales and business practices to be questionable. For instance, if you don’t but their premium mattress cover, they try to scare you by saying the mattress will degrade. Perhaps they just shouldn’t offer covers that don’t properly protect their mattresses.

i had placed an order for 5 pillow covers made with sunbrella for the out door patio size of 18×18 i waited for 3 weeks and got my pillow covers and only one was the right size the rest were 17 ½ 0r 17 ¼ i called then they said they were so sorry and would make new ones waited 2 weeks and got my new order
and it was the same covers, its been now 5 weeks and they will be making new ones again they said and will make it right this time today is may 1^st, 2015 lets see how long it will take but they gave me a 10% discount which was 25.00 bucks… lol
AFTER 3 tries still wrong size and sent order back on 5÷14÷15 asking for a refund
2 months had enough

I also wish I could give ZERO stars because that is really what they deserve.
I ordered two twin-​size wedges to lay side-​by-​side on a king bed. Not a hard requirement for most companies to understand. When I received the product, it was not made to the specifications that I had in my copy of the order entry data. Somehow the company came up with a «fabricated» order page reflecting the dimensions that they manufactured to. I guess foam in not the only thing they «fabricate». I sent them pictures showing that there was no way the delivered product was made as I specified and it would fit on a king-​size bed as a typical wedge would be positioned. They don’t care to serve the needs of their customers and they pass on their errors to their unsuspecting customers as so many of the reviews here and on other review sites have depicted so well. They have proved how unscrupulous they can be. Do yourself a big favor and don’t get caught up in their web — buy your foam products elsewhere.

We came here since there are very few places that even sell latex mattresses, and at first, we thought this place seemed reasonable. Looking around the store, I began getting headaches because of the chemical fumes (the back half of the store is a factory where they build memory foam and synthetic latex), and couldn’t stay very long. The salesman helping us claimed he couldn’t smell anything [when I mentioned it], and even said I was mistaken.
We ended up ordering a mattress because it was cheaper than anywhere else, and they said it would be delivered NO LATER than a week and a half. This was important since we had just moved into a new place, with no furniture, and was sleeping on the floor until this mattress arrived.
THREE WEEKS LATER we get a call saying it was ready, but could not be delivered for another couple of days because their delivery person was sick. We arranged for Lugg to come and pick it up that day, and agreed to set it up ourselves. Lugg arrived with what I am now convinced is the wrong mattress. Not that Lugg screwed up, they only picked up what they were told, and I believe the wrong mattress was staged for pickup at the store.
A couple days later, around the time we were thinking something was wrong, since our backs HURT every morning, we got a call from Foam Order looking to set up a delivery time for our new mattress. THE MATTRESS WE ALREADY HAD FOR THREE DAYS! After asking them about the firmness/​softness possibly being off, and if someone could look into it, they agreed to call us right back and have someone come to our home to investigate.
Over a week later, there has not been any call. No one has followed up or come to the house. We are currently returning the mattress, and taking a hit to do so.

Pretty bad… Wish I could give zero or negative stars…
Ordered a futon. Reasonably priced. OK. It finally arrived. I opened the shrink-​wrapped foam (unaware I actually had to still assemble the futon myself???) and thousands of tiny white foam particles scattered all over me, the fabric cover, our bedroom floor…
I contacted the company (who apparently recently switched foam providers).
Their reply: «We didn’t predict that this new foam would have more foam dust than the other and this is why you are not having to deal with this. I apologize. We will certainly add to our procedures to shake out each piece before its packaged for shipping. I realize this doesn’t help you in the current circumstances so I would like to offer you a $ 20 credit on your next order.»
WHAT??? So the solution to my current problem is for me to give you more money (but save a token $ 20)? I have no need for another mattress/​foam type product at all.
Just the worst customer service, and any problem you have they’ll «fix» it by having you give them more money. Terrible business sense… Needless to say, we still have tiny foam particles all over the apartment. It’ll take months before they all disappear.

I came in to replace my sofa foam, and they did an absolutely wonderful job. The store is nice, they have foam samples available to sit on, and the staff is very very knowledgable. Highly recommended!

To all the people here complaining about minor customer service glitches (for the record, they offered stellar service when I bought my mattress), you are missing the point! This is the only place in SF selling latex mattresses that are not drenched in toxic flame retardant chemicals that can KILL you slowly. You want slick sales, go to Mancini’s and get your carcinogenic PentaBDE soaked foam. But if you care about your and your children’s health, I highly recommend giving this place a chance. They are professional and super flexible with returns, and offer a great, natural product. What more do you want?

Had a cheap Ikea couch with a great frame/​fabric, but lousy foam cushions. Replaced one its cushions with a high-​grade foam from Foam Order. Was a little pricey. But the foam is great, has held up great for a year now, and it was way cheaper than buying a high-​end couch.
I just ordered a few more replacements. Appreciated that they still had my prior order on file (dimensions and foam type), so ordering it was quick/​easy.
Not sure I understand the negative reviews, maybe they were getting something else. But if you have sagging cushions on a couch/​chair, I’d highly recommend this place. You might want to go it to get an idea of the various types so you don’t get something too soft/​hard.

The product is actually decent and the price okay, but its like they have some kind of culture of incompetence that is stunning. Seriously, there is nothing to like about their customer service or support. They messed up delivery of the order three times and gave me a problem when I asked them to fix it. They didnt even have the telephone number of UPS to call to adjust the delivery of the order. And this was their (multiple mistakes). Whatever you might save by using them, it isnt worth it. At all. not in the slightest bit. Quite frankly, I dont know how these guys even stay open. Avoid them. Use a brand name service as, at least, you will get your items (there is no cost savings that is worth these guys).

I just ordered a latex mattress, and I had a good experience because of Mike, he explained everything to me and even got my other mattress from plushbeds returned for me, so Thank you Mike! The mattress is pricey and what I HATE is they offer free pillows but since I was getting a custom mattress I did not get the pillows. It should not matter if it is a custom made mattress or one in stock or on the floor, I feel I should have gotten the pillows. The delivery guys were great too. But the other staff are a bit rude.

Read the reviews before you shop here. For the first time in my life I’m writing a review because every aspect of the service of this place was terrible bordering on dishonest.

I’ve had nothing but positive experiences here. I have had custom pillows made to revive an old sofa, purchased 2 beautiful teak benches, and a bed frame. Folks have only been friendly, helpful and professional.

I shopped around for a memory foam mattress topper for my bed as my boyfriend found my mattress to be hard. After all the shopping around that I did, I was very happy with my purchase of a 3″ high density mattress pad. Very nice and my boyfriend is super-​stoked, so I am quite happy too! :) The price was actually less than most of the «Bed, Bath and Beyond» version which were inferior quality.

I honestly wanted to give two stars, but couldn’t think why I would. I made the hour drive to SF to test out and purchase three pieces of custom foam with my measurements ready. I found the foam I liked and was told I needed to make a pattern for two of the pieces and mail them in and then they would ship the foam for a fee unless I wanted to make another two hour round trip, which I did not.
I made the patterns for all three pieces just to be on the safe side and used tissue paper as recommended. I was told it would only take a week from the time they received the pattern and it just wasn’t true. I called several times and they kept telling me it was in progress until the last time I called and the woman admitted they had lost my pattern, finally found it under a desk and they would expedite the shipment since it had now been almost three weeks.
The foam arrived and it’s completely wrong. If you put my pattern against the foam pieces, they don’t match up in the slightest. The foam is huge and I’m not even taking the batting into account, which by the way, is on the wrong side of one of the pieces and can’t be taken off and turned around.
I’m not going to bother taking this back to them to fix, I’m going somewhere else and hope they can salvage the pieces I paid hundreds of dollars for. How can you get three pieces so wrong when I sent you a pattern? I could understand if my pattern was off and that’s why they didn’t fit, but that is not the situation at all.

Just received my V90 rigid foam mattress with the diamond pillow top. My wife and I couldn’t be happier. Out of the box, the mattress expanded from its vacuum packing and laid out perfectly flat on its foundation.
I took a big gamble ordering such a large and expensive item from the other end of the country, but after doing a lot of online research, this looked like the place to buy from. The sales staff was helpful and described the shipping method accurately. The only issue I have is that the order took about a month to ship, but after receiving the mattress, I really can’t complain that loudly.

Unfortunately, after me telling them the specifications of what I needed, they sold me an unreturnable 80 dollar piece of foam. I told them I need it as a tool box drawer underliner. The foam I got shows every single mark anything ever touches it leaves a mark. That is not what the foam they gave me is designed for.
I really don’t like when I present a problem, one that I have been searching for a solution for in a limited time for a photo shoot no less — and then I am given the wrong item and told it is unrefundable. I was forced to use it for the shoot, but it for the test of time, the product they gave me will not work!
Furthermore, they probably had the right product under their noses. A thick yoga mat type foamcoare would have been absolutely correct for this. Shame shame!

This is actually a tough review. Part of the score is based on the business. Part of it is based on the product.
We drove into the city (from Pleasanton mind you!) because our Tempurpedic bed is… well, uncomfortable doesn’t quite cover it. We have piles of «cloudy goodness» (essentially pillow toppers) to try to make it more comfortable. We were pretty excited about Foamorders.
In the store, we laid around on the beds and the foam toppers they have. We settled on the softest one they had. It was actually quite comfy there in the store. We ordered one to fit our bed and they told us they would try to rush it because we had expressed discomfort in our current bed. All good so far.
We ended up driving into the city the following weekend to pick it up because it was not shipped on time (they were like 2 days late, but since it was a rush, we didn’t actually mind). We were going to be in the city anyway, so swinging by was no big deal.
We unpacked it and it didn’t feel quite as soft as what we had laid on in the store. We tried loosening the covers to see if that was the issue. Nope. So I called the store to ask about it. They confirmed that what they had made for us was not the same as what was in the store.
Ummm ok. I don’t understand how that would happen. They are taking back what they gave us and giving us what we ordered now. This will take another drive into the city, which is a pain. This is pretty annoying.
In the store, they were very helpful and accommodating, but that doesn’t mean much when we have to make 3 trips into the city to get our order. So breaking down the stars some — if the eventual order is good, then its full marks for the product. The in-​store service was good, so that is probably 4 stars there. And then it is probably a single star on fulfilling the order. I figure that averages to a 3.

I suggest you don’t waste your time here.
My «5-​year» foam lasted less than two, and even though Robert kept promising to get back to me after I brought it by for inspection, it took over two weeks and several phone conversations for them to finally come to the conclusion that I could have store credit. I feel I deserve a refund but they insist that I buy more of their crap foam.
Don’t bother.

Not your place for a sustainably harvested bed. You can get a better value somewhere else.
Wow. I have rarely come across such nasty people in SF. I wanted to purchase a bed over the phone, no questions, nothing, just how soon can I get it. I guess the bed has been discontinued (so they should probably take it off their website). James, who was super nice, said I should call the store nearest to me and see if it is in stock — great. Whoever I got said that finding it would require phone calls — and he was not into that. OK, weird. Called James back he said he would make some calls and see if he could find it for me — THANKS!
Than the real craziness! I called back later in the day to see if he had found one — and had the unfortunate fate of speaking to one Brooke Jensen. Wow — what a nasty, mean person. My phone has been giving bad connections and when I asked her if she could hear me she was very short and would not respond anything but, «loud» — you mean, I am loud? Then, after explaining the situation (that I wanted to buy a bed) she put me on hold, came back and said it was discontinued. OK, I explained again about James… her response — «What do you want me to do, start calling customers and asking if they want to sell you their bed. THEY ARE DISCONTINUED»
Making perspective clients feel bad for trying to purchase something on their website, really? Once I did this I looked closer into their products and I would suggest anyone else do the same, as well. There are plenty of places in SF where you can find beds for less money that are made by family companies with sustainably harvested hard wood.
