Ferme À Papier by Cat Seto

I’m usually not one of those gals that gushes over a super cute shop with all it’s cutesy things etc etc. BUT, this place is not just that. It’s the über cool store for the gal that just spent a week in Morocco, then Paris and then came to this place to shop. The shop lives up to it’s cred as well curated with each piece feeling like it was individually chosen. I would have swooped up all the cards, a few shirts, and some jewelry if I weren’t on a self imposed budget.

What a lovely shop off Polk Street. I went to find a tasteful mother’s day card and left with several cards for loved ones. The quality and designs of the cards and prints are fantastic. Don’t forget to peruse through the discount bin of cards near the register. I’ll certainly visit again.

Actually called Ferme À Papier, a concept shop /​gallery by curator, artist and creative writer, Cat Seto, the vibe is a Wes Anderson version of Paris and Amsterdam best friends with Provençe, hand in hand, running through a poppy field. Ferme À Papier is French for «farm to paper». The cards and ambiance have an earthy, bohemian sensibility, too.

Wood crates, a bicycle, vintage typewriters, jewelry, greeting cards, stationery, locally-​designed garb, mostly in x-​small, blue agate coasters, Voluspa candles, Malin + Goetz rum and lime soaps. Everything is carefully placed in arca glass boxes, museum-​style. Here and there succulents, sale bins under the main display tables, and a fascinating design book on color. The collection is minimalist and mod/​farm. Cat Seto went to Europe and brought quaint rural Euro hip to the streets of Russian Hill. And on the walls hang her paintings on canvas.
Cat Seto uses the space, also, for her wedding label and services.
Her art prints and greeting cards are sold all over the United States, and around the world, including in Thailand, UK, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, Germany and Australia. The shop re-​opened last year, and has been revamped. It’s a big feature on design blogs and has garnered a unique cult following among many online.
As Cat Seto is the co-​author of Mom, Inc., there’s also a mommy-​slant to the shop. You’ll find sweet baby clothes and trinkets for the little human in your life.

Great local card-​shop, with fantastic designs and art prints. It’s targeted towards the 20s and 30s age group, I’d say, because there are an awful lot of bridal shower /​wedding designs. Which is great because most other card shops only have 1 or 2 designs for each of those.
There are also other «little luxuries» as I like to call them, like voluspa candles etc.
The lady working there at the time didn’t greet me or say anything, but that was fine because I wanted to browse in peace. She was friendly enough when I went to purchase.

I just picked up my Cat Seto wedding invitations and they are BEAUTIFUL! Cat and her staff worked with me on all the details and made the process really easy. I tend to be indecisive and they were able to use their expertise to guide me in the right direction. Not only is Cat an incredibly talented designer, she is also a really nice person and she and her staff made choosing invitations a pleasure! I look forward to having a huge anniversary party so I can do more invitations!

One of the worst ways a store clerk can respond to a simple question must be, «I don’t know, I just work here.»
This was the answer I received when I had asked whether the necklace I was holding was the only one in stock.
«I don’t know, I just work here». I mean, REALLY?
My two friends and I were the only customers in the store. The necklace was very cute and any store clerk paying attention would have noticed that I loved it and was easily ready to spend $ 49 on it. However, the silver chain was looking really weak in one spot. Something to the tune of, «that is the only one in stock and we can do _​_​_​_​about it, if it breaks» would have been helpful. Additionally, this girl rushed my friend along while she was IN the changing room. This woman must have had a party to go to or something because clearly she didn’t care about the customers in the store.
With so many other stationary and women’s clothing options in the city, my friends and I are not likely to return.

What a wonderful little retreat if you’re out and about searching for something small to give to someone. This shop makes me think of all of the people I know and how something inside could easily be sent to each of them and it would match who they are. Sounds philosophical and maybe it is but I love boutiques that have specially picked items that aren’t overly stocked and have meaning behind them.
I’m not too sure if I would purchase the clothes inside mainly because I’m smitten with everything else. I also love the idea of having a print shop attached so when I finally peg down and plan a dinner or cocktail party I know where to have lovely invitations created. The jewlery though is sparse is definitely beautiful and holds a vintage feel about it.
Adorable shop nestled on the northern part of Polk definitely worth a look in.

I love Cat Seto. Her stationary is so gorgeous and so well priced (esp for SF and esp for weddings!!). I walked in grossy gross in workout clothes intending just to browse and ended up finding my wedding invitations. Another awesome plus– I was helped by Cat Seto herself, who helped me select the invitations. Very pleasurable experience.

Adorable little shop that smells fantastic! I adore the furniture in here and actually have stopped in twice to look at it (it’s not for sale unfortunately) because I want to try to get crafty and immitate it in my new flat. She does a great job of lay out and merchandising. This is a great place to stop in for a special little gift for a pick me up for yourself and a sweet just because present for a friend. I wasn’t that impressed with the clothing, i was more drawn to the candles, stationary, house stuff and smaller items. I’m sure I will be back on lots of occassions.

A cute boutique in Russian Hill with handmade cards/​stationery, clothing, and gifts! A very nice find after a long day of riding cable cars, wandering around Hyde Street Pier, and then up Polk.
While I didn’t make a purchase today [trying to save money now that I’m «exploring my options”], I have a feeling that future visits may find me acquiring items or gifts for others and spending $ or $$! At a quick glance, the prices range from low to high. There’s something there for me [such as the note cards in tin cans]. I just know it!

Finally got a chance to check out this place. The store front display has always attracted me and the shop did not disappoint.
There was a rack of sale items in the front, couple cute tops at really good prices but wrong size — too small or too big. Walking in, the store feels cozy while it’s bright and airy. The store is not over stuffed with stock but a small collection of thoughtfully picked items including cute feminine clothes, great scented candles and diffusers, various sizes of canvas totes and bags, fur lined boots, a mixture of other cute home decors and lots of stationery. Oh, also a couple handmade leather handbags. Everything is surprisingly reasonably priced.
I ended up with a very cute grey colored top/​dress that I can’t wait to wear. It looked great over a pair of jeans and also quite cute alone with a pair of boots.
The guy behind the counter said they are a stationery store but are better using their storefront with other accessories and merchandise to enhance the customers’ experience. Good job and I look forward to checking out this place often for new finds.

What a lovely boutique on Polk Street. You can find beautiful gold and silver jewelry (ranging in price), candles, one of a kind stationary, and beautiful clothes– especially dresses. I found the most beautiful emerald green dress, perfect for a cocktail party or NYE. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Loves it.

I go there to buy my candles and the owner (?) is so sweet and fantastic, and always a pleasure to chat with. They also have a great selection of clothes and little girly things that make browsing fun. Also, did I mention that I love going there to smell their candles?!

This is a great boutique with a fabulous mix of low and high end pieces. You can find really cute and unique pieces for reasonable prices plus Cat has a great selection of jewelry, purses and other little knick knacks like dishes, candles and room diffusers. I always find something really cute here.

Another one of the ubiquitous girly gift boutiques on Polk street. This one though has the cutest stuff of any of them. I actually want to go back there and really look around and pick up some goodies for myself. Very cute jewelry, though small selection, adorable dresses, cute stationary and git items… plus the nice lady that was in there last night was really friendly and helpful… good service is PRICELESS!

Adorable little boutique that carries girly girl dresses, tops, skirts and clothing, as well as candles, chocolates, pillows, little books about planning parties and making scones, dishes, plates, incense, trinkets, gifts, and her own designed stationary and wedding invitation line.
Though I loved the clothing and the candles and other gifts and trinkets, what most stands out are her dainty perfect little note cards and stationary. WOW. I couldn’t pay for more beautiful paper.
And she herself is so sweet and nice and friendly and helpful. She reminds me of someone you would want to be friends with.
This is the perfect store for the girly girl: think Charlotte York from Sex and the City but without the higher price points of some of the other boutiques in the area. Everything is reasonably priced.

I got the cutest (sorta fancy) dress from here last weekend for about $ 80. What a steal!
Anyway, Cat Seto has lots of great, interesting clothes, relaxed environment and reasonable prices. Definitely worth checking out.

Cat Seto makes the best handmade cards. She also carries the best clothing, gifts (I just bought a diffuser for my friend) and dishes. Yes, you heard me right, dishes. They are awesome and I want them all.
Seriously, if you are looking for wedding, baby shower, birthday, engagement party, etc…(I could go on forever) invites, Cat is your woman.
Another tidbit for all you Michigan Alums, Cat went to Michigan (so did her husband) and she also taught at Michigan. Brilliant and talented?

Hello, new favorite store.
I like places that have pretty dresses, pillows, stationery and nice-​smelling things. Who does not? I almost do not believe her pricing – how can you charge under 100 dollars for dresses and tops in Russian Hill? I thought it was illegal.
And this «Cat Seto”* person was so unbelievably nice to me without being all fakey; I put back a dress I tried on because I wasn’t sold on it and she was all «that is probably too big for you.» I think I blushed. In public.
*This person did not introduce herself as Cat Seto. I am assuming because it makes the story more romantical.

I received a gorgeous party dress from this shop as a gift from someone who has a discerning eye for quality and finding clothes that both suit my style and look good on me… this ability probably stems from seeing me naked a fair bit, thus gaining an all too acute understanding of the good, the bad, and the sweet jesus only layers of tulle can do anything about that.
The store carries owner-​designed note cards and small home accessories in addition to the feminine frocks, yet it manages to maintain coherence among these. I would describe the offerings as very sweet and a little sassy with a dash of demure sexiness.

I wandered into cat seto today while shopping on polk street and found that they have the cutest notecards! The owners who were there told me that its their opening weekend. I especially liked the local-​inspired cards they had (one of which i bought!). they had tons of really great cards, all designed by the owner. they also carry a few clothes too which were nice, although i didnt get a chance to try anything on while i was there.
