Endodontic Arts of San Francisco is an Endodontic Specialty practice located in Union Square and Laure Heights. Our team is led by a respected endodontists Dr. Shuster, Dr. Tachibana, Dr. Chiu, and Dr. Peritore. We provide the highest standard of endodontic care in a friendly, comfortable environment. History

Established in 2011.

Dr. Shuster always wanted to practice in the community in which he grew up. After receiving his dental degree (DMD) from Harvard School of Dental Medicine and certificate in Endodontics from UCLA, he founded Endodontic Arts of San Francisco in 2011.

The practice has grown and he was joined by Dr. Chiu (Doctor of Dental Surgery, UCSF), Dr. Tachibana (Doctor of Dental Surgery, UCLA), and Dr. Peritore (Doctor of Dental Surgery, Case Western Reserve University).

Together with exceptional staff these doctors practice in two locations: Union Square and Laurel Heights. Their goal is to provide the highest level of care and always be available to their patients.

Dr. Shuster received his doctor of medical dentistry (DMD) from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He went on to complete specialty training in Endodontics at UCLA, where he served as Chief Resident.

Currently, Dr. Shuster is the chair of the membership committee and serves on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Dental Society. He is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists and American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Dr. Shuster regularly lectures on endodontic topics with the Endodontic Arts Study Club.

He lives in the West Portal neighborhood of San Francisco with his wife, Karin, and son, Naveen.

The staff was very friendly, the endodontist very competent, the service was top notch, and they gave me a painless root canal. Why do I only give 3 stars then? The price tag was pretty steep: $ 1951 of total charge for a root canal on a molar, that’s 2.4 times the median price of a molar root canal in SF, according to this website:
In France, the same service costs on average 81.94 euros (less than $ 100): I could have bought an airplane ticket to visit France and get my root canal done there for cheaper than what I paid here.

Before I was referred to Dr. Shuster, I had never heard of anyone having a positive root canal experience. Just the term evokes fear in most people, and after going a decade without visiting a dentist, I was terrified when I was told I would need to have the procedure done.
Fortunately, the entire process was simple and 100% painless. Dr. Shuster numbed my gums with a topical anesthetic, so I didn’t even feel the Novocain injections. After that I put on my earbuds and listened to music while he worked away on my broken tooth. The entire procedure took less than an hour, and I was able to eat almost immediately.
I can honestly say that I could not be happier with my root canal.

Just finished getting a root canal from Dr. Shuster. Absolutely pain free and fast!!! I was stressing about this visit and can honestly say, it was a pleasant one. Best experience, hands down, I’ve had with an endodontist/​dentist, ever.

When I first met Dr Shuster, I was fearful of this procedure. He talked to me about it and I watched a short video and felt a little more comfortable. After the procedure, I was pleasantly surprised. It did not hurt and it went quickly. I wasted all that time that I’ll never get back worrying about something that was easy. Dr. Shuster and every one of his staff that I came in contact with was pleasant and upbeat. The Geary office has a good positive relaxed feel about it. Highly recommended.

Over the last 2 weeks I was in extreme pain due to a toothache; fast forward to yesterday when my dentist said I needed an emergency root canal. She referred me to Endodontic Arts (who were able to see me and address the issue within the hour!)
Both Dr Shuster & Dr Peritore were amazing!!!
After many, many shots Novacaine (using various methods since my tooth’s pulp was beyond inflamed & extremely sensitive), the doctors were able to finally able to perform the PAINLESS root canal. Yay!!! I am forever grateful!

Dr. Shuster and his assistant were just wonderful. The atmosphere was so calm and lovely, and they really made me feel comfortable and changed my whole perspective on root canals.
I went in for a root canal, was out in about 45 minutes from entering the room, to filling out paperwork, to leaving the building.
The gal at the front desk that collects payments is a little intimidating, but collecting payments is a tough job, i do it myself so i totally get that she is in a crappy situation and one must be very professional, which she was.
I was recommended by my dentist who said Dr. Shuster is the best at what he does and that is for sure the truth!

I just came back from having my 1st root canal with Dr. Shuster at Endodontic Arts. Suffice to say, it was such a positive experience that the very 1st thing I’m doing now that I’m home is writing a 5-​star review for him & his excellent staff. Every single person I interacted with in the office from start to finish was friendly, professional, and helpful– and in fact, went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and cared for throughout the process. When I first found out I needed a root canal, I literally went & cried in the office bathroom –yes, I was that scared– but little did I know that no tears were necessary. It was as painless and friendly an experience as I’ve ever had in a dental environment. I hope I never need a root canal again, but if I did I would go back to Dr. Shuster & his staff in a heartbeat.

I was having a lot of pain during the weekend, I knew that i needed a root canal by my dentist recommendation but i was afraid to do it. I called my dentist and I told them i was ready and i was referred to this office.
I called to schedule an urgent appointment at this office, and they accommodate me in their schedule the same day.
I went to the appointment and everyone was very nice to me. The office was very nice and clean, I really liked the vibe in this office.
The receptionist explained me all the financial and insurances cost. The dental assistant was really sweet and very helpful and understanding. She kept me calm and relax.
Dr Shuster explained me everything that he was going to do and answered all my question. My root canal was painless and fast.
Long story short, I highly recommend this office, Dr Shuster and his team are amazing.
