I recently bought a condo in SF using Scott Yarmark as my buyer’s agent, and I couldn’t be happier! What I find most interesting about Unilocal reviews of realtors is that everyone gives five stars. I have found very few exceptions. Perhaps that is because you need to have a five star average just to stay in business in San Francisco. Then I thought, «How can I make my five star review stand out over the thousands of other ones?»

For years, I talked with Dan in social settings about the state of the San Francisco residential market. I never gave it a thought that we’d work together some day. After four unsuccessful attempts at buying a home in the city with another agent, we asked Dan for some help. And sure enough, we got our dream home on the very next try. All of Dan’s advice before, during and after has been 100% spot on.
That was eight years ago. Since then, we’ve referred friends and acquaintances to Dan & Scott. Unequivocally, all of those referrals became super happy buyers and sellers.
The thing that makes Dan & Scott different is that they have managed to turns sales into service. It’s not about writing or accepting an offer. This review is way overdue. I discovered Dan while visiting an open house up on Roosevelt Way several years ago. Finding an agent can be hit or miss and my partner and I were buying our first home together. We had zero idea who to trust to help us with this huge step and weren’t interested in being badgered into working with someone we knew nothing about. So, of course, when he politely asked if we were working with an agent, we blurted out ‘Yes!’ in unison.
We decided that house wasn’t the one for us, so we left to look at another place. But while talking about it, we realized that Dan was probably the agent for us. He was personable, honest, extremely knowledgeable, easy going, had a great sense of humor, and there wasn’t an ounce of badger in him.
We turned the car around and zoomed back before his open house ended. There began a beautiful relationship that has lasted through the purchase and sale of two wonderful homes. He was always there in between times to grab a coffee, provide advice on what we were planning, and catch us up on how the market was doing. He is the consummate professional and we couldn’t have succeeded as we have without him in our corner. Full disclosure: I’ve always worked mostly with Dan, but I know that Scott is a solid agent with a profile that complements Dan.
We no longer live in San Francisco, but I still look up Dan when I visit. If we were to move back, there’s absolutely no one else I would work with.
