Very friendly people. I have a custom PC tower with liquid damage that no one has been willing to even take a look at. Rich couldn’t take the project on, but rather than just saying «sorry can’t help you» like the 10 other people I talked to, he very graciously helped me find someone who was able to take on the project. Great customer service.

I came to Ryan with an interesting project. I had acquired and older server grade machine for use as a home lab. The problem — when I turned it on it was louder than a jet engine. My options were to dump for a loss or salvage parts and build something quieter. Enter Ryan. Ryan was able to salvage the CPUs, RAM, HDs and RAID controller. He made cost effective recommendations for a case, PSU, water-​cooled heat sinks and everything else I needed. He was prompt about sending a detailed quote. No sooner had my echeck cleared than I was receiving a call saying the build was complete. I was thinking it would take a week or so, but this literally felt like the next day. My new system is EXACTLY what I wanted and I’m still amazed at how quiet and cool it runs for the amount of juice inside.

Ryan is awesome, I can’t recommend him highly enough. I built a PC with my son and it malfunctioned quickly, so being the novice I am I brought it to Ryan. He diagnosed the problem and fixed it quickly. Not only that, he improved upon it by taking the time for small details such as running the cabling inside the computer professionally and neatly, a detail that one might not notice, but Ryan took the time to do it right. Ryan called me to let me know what was wrong, was happy to answer any questions I had, and offered to help with extra steps such as re-​activating Windows. While I hope I don’t need repairs again for a while, if I do, Ryan will be the first person I call.

Ryan did a super job with the upgrade of my four years old computer. I’ll definitely recommend his services for your gaming (or not…) upgrades! He gave me good tips and was attentive to my requests. I’ll come back for my next upgrade!

I spilled water/​soup on my laptop and I immediately called him at 6pm one night. Thankfully he works from home so he picked up my call. I dropped it off and told him to take a look at it. He was very honest and straightforward, and it was easy to meet up. Unfortunately my computer wasn’t able to be saved, but should I have any other computer issue in the future, he will definitely be the first person I call.

Thank you Ryan! So happy to have CCR in my hood. My Macbook Pro was in good condition but super slow. I asked Ryan if there was anything he could do to speed it up. He recommended putting in a solid state drive, quoted me a fair price, and had it fixed in no time. Now my computer feels and operates like it’s brand new. Ryan built me an awesome computer… much better than getting one online or at the store with a bunch of bloatware. Just let him know what you’re looking to do with your computer and he’ll point you in the right direction. The desktop was built quickly and runs/​looks fantastic! He’s very responsive and stands by his work, I’ll be coming back when I need an upgrade.

Ryan preserved a number of important files for us from a computer that we could no longer boot. He was able to retrieve everything we hoped for, within a short time-​window, and for a very reasonable price. Communication was proactive and professional, and he even followed-​up after the work was complete with some guidance on how to avoid a similar situation going forward.
I will be going back to Ryan for any future computer needs, and will recommend him to anybody who needs similar service.

Ryan is fantastic. After being told by two different technicians that I would have to reinstall Windows and thus lose all my data (photos, documents, etc.), I took my computer to Ryan. He is really nice, very honest and super knowledgeable. Within 24 hours, he had my computer up and running as well as it ran when I first bought it, and all my data was still there. His pricing is very reasonable, and he gave me suggestions about how to maintain my computer in the future. Oh, and he fixed my computer on New Year’s Eve day, and I picked it up New Year’s Eve. Seriously, it’s hard to imagine finding a better hidden gem in the city than Ryan if you need help with your computer. I will use him for all my computer needs in the future and not even consider going elsewhere.

I had issues with my PC, and I called Ryan. He was accommodating, and addressed and corrected the issues within 24 hours! I highly recommend Ryan.

Can’t say enough good about Ryan: He helped us revive a moderately old HDD (80 GB) very quickly and then put the many gigabytes of necessary information also on an online bulk-​storage site, which he helped us set up. All for a very reasonable sum. Called around to other well rated Unilocal sites, and they were fine, but slower and more expensive. He is your reliable, trustworthy, and competent person to go to. One of the great things about living in San Francisco.

here’s the scenario.
1. Alienware Aurora r4 starts developing overheating issues after a year.
2. Liquid Cooling decides to drip all over my computer. Potentially damaging motherboard, graphics card, memory etc.
3. I Unilocaled computer repair, and saw this guy on Unilocal,I saw starving student and computer geek, I thought I’d support him vs. the other computer repair stores. He’s pretty LEGIT knows his stuff, I know because I am a computer geek myself, although not a hardware guy, more of a software guy
4. He constantly updated me of whats going on with my PC, liquid cooling failed, sprayed gunk all over my stuff, he will try to fix it by cleaning and drying everything. He was upfront there’s a chance of the computer dying forever and he will try to salvage what he can.
5. Guess what, he saved the entire PC woohoo! Dried my PC, replaced the faulty cooling and my computer is purring like a kitten now.
6. As a 3d artist who’s tied to his desktop machine, i am grateful for ryan, awesome service, honest and knows his stuff. Please consider his services :)

Ryan is fantastic — he helped us recover old baby photos and videos off an encrypted mirra server that we had lost all our login info for. He was prompt, very informative and very honest and high-​integrity.
Pricing very reasonable and no upfront cost for checking things out — you definitely get the sense that he just wants to help and loves what he does. And is very expert at it!

When I decided I was going to get a new PC, I did quite a bit of research, and considered buying online, as I’d done in the past. Even though I had a good idea of what I wanted, I had questions about components and concerns about quality and shipping.
So I thought to myself, Self, there must be a local option for this sort of thing. And there was! Ryan answered all of my questions and worked with me to put together a parts list that met my requirements and fit my budget. He went the extra mile to find good deals on the parts in order to get a little more bang for the buck. Even better, less than a week passed between agreement on the parts list and the final product getting into my hands.
I was impressed with Ryan’s professionalism, appreciated his enthusiasm for his work, and I’m happy to help support his small business.

2^nd visit: as always. Ryan is the best in the town. The battery had some problem and he took care of it real quick. :)

In a botched attempt to replace the thermal paste on my Macbook Pro, I broke multiple small pieces off the logic board that needed to be soldered back on. Ryan took a look at it and let me know that it would be too difficult to do because of they way the old soldering broke off. No charge.
He offered to find a used logic board to install which I decided not to do for the moment, but if I do go that route, I’ll definitely go back to CC&R to get it put in right.

DEFINATELY call Ryan for ANY of your computer problems FIRST!!!
Case 1: He recovered «lost» music/​data files from my CDR, that got «erased» when I was burning a copy of the CD. Basically, 5 – 10 OTHER (WORTHLESS!!!) computer data recovery businesses that I found on Unilocal told me that it was impossible to re-​write or erase data from a CD-​R, and that my story didn’t make sense, and that what I was telling them was WRONG. It is like a child telling their mom that there is a MONSTER in the closet and asking for help, and then having the mom say your stupid, and you dont make any sense, BUT I will charge you about $ 120 an hour to take a look in the closet for you. But RYAN said…“Sure, I will take a look at it for you,” or SOMETHING like that, and treated me with courtesy and respect. Then guess what, RYAN found the files, gave me the BEST PRICE of ANY other quotes I got, and I was so relieved!!! I got my cd/​files not just thinking, but BELIEVING that …“RYAN IS THE MAN!!!“
Case 2: He fixed My $ 2,400 fancy computer module after it broke when it refused to power up. I picked up the the Red Phone and called RYAN for help. I had another spare computer module that a cousin gave me, and offered it to RYAN to see if he could use any of its parts to fix my computer. He found out that the power supply went bad, ordered me a new one, then combined the powers/​parts of both computers into ONE! He regularly communicated with me on all the updates, prices, and timelines. Again, I was amazed with his service. He even put a red bow on the computer when he gave it back to me! Ok, that part isn’t true, but his customer service skills definitely need to be cloned somehow.
I’m surprised he has so few reviews, but I am NOT surprised all his reviews have 5 STARS.

My laptop stopped working in the middle of midterms and I really needed it fixed right away. I called a local computer repair shop and was told that it would take them several days until they could look at my computer. Additionally they charged a somewhat costly fee simply to diagnose the issue.
Faced with a time crunch, I looked on Unilocal and luckily came across the many good reviews for Ryan at CC&R in the Outer Sunset. In addition to building custom computers, Ryan also does hardware repairs and fixes programming issues.
Ryan was able to quickly accept my laptop at 8pm, and spent the night and the next day diagnosing and fixing the problem. His hours are flexible and he doesn’t drag out his work over several days. I was very impressed at the speed with which he was able to work on things, and the completeness of his work. In addition to fixing a software bug issue, he did a diagnosis of the health of my drives, my virus software, and recommended a switch to a free program, which he did for me. The cost of his help, considering the level of attention and speed, was quite fair.
It should be noted that Ryan is a local college student. I’m quite happy to be helping someone who is working his way through school. I appreciated his help so much that I created a Unilocal account just to leave a good review. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
