CPMC Laboratory

Strange but positive restaurant experience here, wasn’t sure whether to review because I don’t want the place overrun with hipsters in a few months.
The ambiance needs an overhaul, more reminiscent of some sort of inpatient facility than any restaurant I’ve ever seen.
The front of house asked for my insurance card which I thought was odd but hey — that’s what it takes to get a reservation in techville san francisco these days.
What put me off most though was that my waiter demanded I give him several vials of my blood before serving me the graham cracker and cranberry juice I requested. He was very friendly but I thought this was a bit forward of him.
At any rate, the graham cracker was delicious and there were other juice options besides the cranberry such as orange and apple.
Overall I would recommend this place, and look forward to visiting again so I can try the saltines everyone is raving about.

Very bureaucratic, lots of wait time in line (both of them), not particularly friendly people. I took my lab order in with me today and you’d think I was the first person to get tested. Pay to park, street parking is a walk. The condition of the facilities is pretty bleak. Look down along the baseboards near the doors for dirt, chipped paint, general facility neglect. In today’s age to have a push bell at the front desk to summon a lab person seems pretty archaic. C’mom people, perk it up, gosh knows you charge enough. I’m sorry my doctor is asking me to switch from LabCorp to CPMC Lab.
Ironically, they switched parking from an attendant to a machine, but now they have to pay a guy to stand next to the pay machine to assist the parkers when checking out, it is that complicated. It’s been there at least 8 months.

Very good lab but costs at least twice as much for basic blood tests. I was stung by insurance company not willing to pay such high costs. Out of pocket? 80% Be very careful here. Even my doctor suggested NOT to use the lab at CPMC Davies campus due to outlandish fees.

I had my blood drawn here recently and the lab tech Karen was hilarious and a pro with the needle sticking. Didn’t even feel it. Fantastic service and experience!

It’s been a long time since I had blood drawn, but it was super easy here at the CPMC Outpatient Lab. Registration was fast and Juan in the lab was very friendly and skilled. I didn’t even notice the needle go in.

The Lab Technicians are CPMC Davies are great.
Much better than the ones at Lab Corp, the entire staff at Lab Corp is the most
unprofessional I have ever seen.
The Registration Desk at Both are awful. especially the one at
Davies, that Witch at the Registration Desk, needs to find other work, preferably not with the public.
Once she asked me what the blood test was for, it was none of her business,
that is private, only between my doctor and me.
Besides all my records are in that computer they have (isn’t that what computers do
retain information)?

Avoid this lab unless you have verified how much your insurance will wave. I get a patient saving of almost 91% for LabCorp but only 26% for CPMC!

I don’t leave reviews very often, and I hate giving blood.
After a bone marrow transplant in January (and prior) I’ve probably had to give blood hundreds of times. It’s usually no fun at all, but I’ve found the experts at Dana Farber in Boston to be pretty good at it.
I was nervous going to CPMC.
The place was kind of a mess — disorganized, hallways closed, redirected from one place to another. I had low hopes after the modern cancer techno-​palace I was used to at Dana Farber.
So why five stars?
After I finally got sent to the right place, I barely waited at all. And my phlebologist was a 30-​year veteran. Her name is Karen, and she was not only quick and efficient, but super friendly. And the poke hurt less than any in recent memory. She made my morning. (Now I just pray there are no insurance-​related snafus!)

Give credit where credit is due. Needed to get chest x-​ray and blood test. In and out of the place under 30 minutes! Friendly and efficient. Wow. I am impressed! Thanks.

This is very convenient for me, I always find street parking nearby. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful, wait time is minimal, never
more that ten minutes and be sure to ask for SLYVIA. She was a star.
Hardly felt the needle and got the draw done really quick and apple juice afterwards to boot. Even my PCP recommended this lab over other CPMC labs. It’s really great.

The lab is open convenient hours-​all staff are very nice and proficient. Hope you get FERNANDO MENDIZABAL-​he is THE BEST. I didn’t feel a thing…

If you are amongst those of us who have to have blood work done on a regular basis, this lab is the one of the most friendly, efficient and pleasant experiences to have– whilst being stuck with a big needle.
Karen and the staff here listen to what patients say, literally. I’ve been around the city and in other states, and I have to say that this lab was quick, easy and quite painless, pun intended.

As Jeff said they offered me post needle fruit juice though I didn’t need it. I was prepared this time and brought my own snacks.

Very professional, friendly, efficient service, from the label-​printing person to the lab window person to the blood-​drawing person to the sending-​results-​to-​my-​doctor person. They are generous with the post-​needle fruit juice. And they are open on Saturdays!

NINE vials of blood were taken out of my body.
I hadn’t eaten in I don’t know – two or three days.
NINE vials.
I swear my doctor is a vampire.
Actually she kind of strikes me as a stoner. Whatever.
So I didn’t get a bruise. I felt nothing. And the staff was super efficient and nice.
What else am I supposed to say about the guy who took all of my blood away from me?

Among the top places in the city to check out in terms of specimen collection.
They have an experienced set of employees (phlebotomists, medical techs, specimen processors) and a recently improved system of processing the goods.
A parking garage is accessible right upon entry on the right side of the hospital. Otherwise, MUNI #24 stops right outside on Castro St or you can catch the N-​line on Duboce. Very convenient.
They’re open Monday through Friday 7am-​6pm and Saturday 8am-4:30pm.
You can get to the MAIN LAB by taking the South Tower entrance right next to the ER. Make a left towards registration (BTW, you always need to register prior to every lab testing — even if it’s a «standing order»). The lab would be the room right across the hall.
A pro phlebotomist named Karen works there — really kind and knows her craft; takes her time with each patient.
A little tip: you can’t just call and ask for your own test results. You’ll need to call your MD’s office and ask them to give it to you.
