LOVE the class I took here!
I’ve been studying mandarin for years and wanted to brush off the cobwebs. My friend (who researches everything) was looking for a mandarin class and thought this was the best that she found. For the price of $ 200 we signed up.
We had teacher Gao and she was great! We were in the beginners class since my friend had not studied mandarin before. For the price of enrollment we got a semester of classes (i think 16) and all materials. Our teacher would start off with only verbal instruction then move it to the related content in the textbook. She was always happy to answer questions in English to help us clarify the topic.
The textbook we received was awesome! I really cannot tell you how much I liked that book. I’ve been learning mandarin for years and usually the textbooks are awful. Badly written without pinyin and nonsensical English. This was very well written and the language skills are built up over each chapter. The chapters start with vocabulary, moves to short sentences then to conversations.
The beginner class was larger than I had expected (considering this is not a mandated class). There was a dozen of us and I’m happy to say everyone stayed through to the end. Which usually doesn’t happen in other Mandarin classes I’ve taken.
Totally recommend the classes that they have here. I’m heading back for the intermediate class.
