Chandler Properties made good on the return of my security deposit 6. YEARS. LATER.
I wholeheartedly believe in fair exchange to the best of our abilities, and this company has certainly demonstrated that too. I almost can’t believe I’m able to even write this today.
As seamless as we might like life to be when it comes to our residences and agreements, it doesn’t always live up to the perfectly executed version we may have in our minds. We always hear «get it in writing or don’t deal», but in actuality, getting a completely air-​tight contract on any side is only idealistic rather than practical. There are certain times where we just trust and go with what is said or implied because we get a good feeling about it. But what happens when things go wrong?
Back in the day, I ran into an upsetting scenario whereby the owner of my building at the time really twisted up a deal in a pretty amateur (and downright dishonest) fashion by promising amenities and a timeline that wasn’t delivered upon. It left Chandler Properties with a «damage control» job with me because they were the ones collecting my rent and entering into contract with the tenants. As a result of this scenario, I felt it appropriate to eventually move out very abruptly, just as fast as I had moved in. My security deposit got caught up within the quagmire, and the whole deal set me back quite a bit. I moved on, but it left me feeling cheated for quite a while.
After re-​posting a review here on Unilocal several years later, Chandler Properties reached out to me, examined my proof, and to my surprise, actually returned my security deposit promptly. They have assured me that they have resolved the underlying issues that would allow these types of situations to occur. Now, by not allowing for residents to move in until renovations have actually been completed, the unit can actually be previewed and accepted as final. While it may push back move-​in timelines, this seems more intelligent than getting caught up in implications.
We have so little in the world if we don’t have common trust and a good reputation. Our entire economy is based upon it, and at the end of the day, it’s just people, with their thoughts and their feelings, trading with one another. So, to me, good faith in Chandler Properties is restored. I believe that the universe is a very powerful force and rewards good business and exchange with longevity, stability, and success.
Thank you for making good on this after so long, Chandler Properties ownership and management. This company has gone from having my warning to now having my recommendation.
I was not asked to write this review. I just wanted to be sure to make the resolution known equally as readily as I shared the problem. This would be a good company to trust and rent from.

I was warned of what a nightmare trying to find an apartment in San Francisco can be… and then I got lucky and found Rafael and Chandler Properties. Raphael was super responsive, friendly, and very honest. He kept me informed throughout the whole process and let me know exactly where I stood. I would highly recommend Chandler properties and would definitely work with them again.

I am re-​evaluating my review and upgrading to 3 stars. After a bumpy start, they have come to take care of many issues that were plaguing me and the Bldg. They now have the common area’s cleaned regularly and have taken care of my deliveries. Samantha Chandler has been responsive and taken care of these issues. I want to thank her, she seems to be the only one that does what she says. The others are to busy. I personally think the Manager of our bldg, has to many bldgs to manage and some get dropped, she needs to loosen her load and give some bldgs to manage to someone else. Doing it all is not always whats best for the client, because things get done half A$$. Thanks Sam for taking care of business.

One of the hardest things I have ever come across is finding the perfect apartment in San Francisco… I knew this was a challenge but I didn’t know it would be this bad. Thank goodness for Rafael at Chandler Properties! My sister and me loved him since we met him and he was our savior in helping us find an apartment in a perfect area– Cow Hollow :) We are so beyond grateful for his services, his friendly and excellent customer service skills! We had worked with other properties before and the ease and convenience that Rafael (and Chandler Properties) provided was amazing! The logistics in finally signing and making the apartment ours was SO easy. Thanks again for a great experience! I would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Update.
I had to phone Adult Protective. Services to prompt Chandler to reprogram a neighbor’s intercom after the 415 area code addition. Chandler told me twice it was fixed and it wasn’t and no one bothered to verify.
My neighbor is heading toward 80 years old and he is very infirm. Not all people have cells and some older folks have mobility issues. He also receives some meds via UPS.
So far, it’s been 26 days. His call of three weeks has never been returned.
On the documents issue, I received some of the data I requested, but it contained resident names, which will only generate more complaints if I post this material.
As I said to them, something is egregiously incorrect with Chandler. Manager workloads? Be sure to ask how many projects your manager will carry in addition to yours if you intend to consider contracting with this company to safeguard your residents’ and neighbors’ security and safety.

Update: Moving on up (by two stars) As we have gotten to know chandler better, we are starting to see there is a human side to their business. They are not perfect (can take over a week to get an email response) but they do have some caring people on their staff that do their best to accommodate tenants needs. I’m not sure what happened to the less than pleasant person who used to answer their phones but I suspect she is no longer there. There’s a new person who has been more responsive. There’s still a couple things that annoy but I will hold my tongue as they are minor in the grand scheme of things. No one is perfect! For a bigger property management company, I think this might be as good as it gets :)

We have been a vendor of Chandler Properties for over a decade. From our experience on both large and small projects they are a first class Property Management Firm! The property managers at Chandler Properties are highly educated with lots of industry experience. If you are in need of a Property Manager we would highly recommend Chandler Properties to your HOA or Apartment.

We use Chandler to manage all our properties, and they are simply the best. They are responsive, professional, and take care of our properties as if the properties were their own. They have given us excellent advice on all aspects of property management.
I would give them more stars if I could!

My girlfriend and I just moved here from Cleveland. By good fortune we responded to a craigslist ad and ended up meeting Rafael Davis. He was helpful and communicative throughout the process of applying for and renting our place, which we love. Not much more to add since everything went so well. I just went through the hell that is searching for a new place in San Francisco, and I was lucky enough to work with Chandler to find a great spot in the Marina.
Raffy was awesome about showing me a bunch of different spots around the city and patiently walked me through all the negotiation and paperwork of signing the lease. I can’t say enough good things about him — he listened to what I was looking for, found matches, and showed me the places quickly.
I was really happy to work with Chandler and recommend them to others.

Just wanted to say I was so happy working with Chandler Properties! I just relocated from Florida and was stressed about the whole moving process and finding a place in good time. I found a beautiful apartment in Russian hill with the help of Chandler Properties and couldn’t have done it without their help! Yumi at the front desk was very friendly and helpful as well asJenni! I definitely called their office many times and both Jenni and Yumi were always a pleasure to speak with. Piera was an absolute pleasure to work with! I’ve never met a more friendly and genuinely nice property manager to work with! 5 stars all the way! Be sure to use them!

I’ve lived in a Chandler building for more than a year now. There’s only ever been one problem and it was of my own making; they handled it quite well.
Recommended, if you’re in the right area.

Finding an apartment my last two times in SF was incredibly difficult-​this time Chandler made it so easy. I saw one apartment, loved it, and applied. The turnaround was quick and when I decided that the location was a little less than ideal for a young woman living alone, Tina referred me to Rafael and another open apartment in a great neighborhood. The representatives that I interacted with were so friendly and efficient, all of the steps of the process went incredibly smoothly.
I’ll definitely be working with them next time I am looking, and would recommend Chandler to all of my friends.

They are a scam ! I was interested in one of their apartment and they ask from me 80 $ fees that was over charge and the apartment was already been rented to someone else. They won’t pay me back. And nobody even answer my calls and try to explain why the won’t pay me back. I found out from the other person that they already got him in before I even go to see the place. Bottom line they just want your money! Be aware from their scam. Don’t use this company to anything.

Extremely pleased with our interactions with Chandler. This is the second property we’re rented with them and all I can say is wow.
Finding a place to live in the city can be hellacious. If anyone remembers Citi Apartments or has dug through the muck on Craigslist, you know what I mean.
The representatives at Chandler are professional and responsive. They listen to what your needs are and match you with a home. Any maintenance requests are addressed promptly and definitively. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Property Manager Rebecca twice now. She sets the gold standard in property management, exceeding our expectations at every opportunity.
We’ll be buying property soon, and if it ever turns into an income property for us, Chandler will be our first call.

My building was bought by this company and what could have been an unpleasant transition was actually handled very professionally. Also, Chandler was super responsive and on-​the-​ball about my move-​out communications. In this crazy housing market, they were informative, friendly, and respectful. I was fortunate to have had a great experience and can only hope that some of my housing karma gets passed along.
Plus they painted the lobby and it looks much better.

I just signed a lease for a great, newly renovated studio in the Mission. It was a pleasure to work with Rafael! He was very timely in reviewing my application and giving me the good news. He also went out of his way to revisit the apartment with me so I could take measurements for furniture.
Other Chandler staff members have also been very responsive to my various move in questions. Overall, I’ve been very pleased with my experience and would recommend Chandler to any of my friends looking for a new place!

Not only is finding a place in the city a painful process, but finding the RIGHT place is even more difficult with all the old complexes and unconventional layouts. But thanks to Rafael, my roommate and I found the PERFECT apartment. Rafael was such a gem. We called him last minute on a Friday night for a showing, figuring he would say it’s too late or last minute, but instead he says «you know what, yeah, I can come show you guys the place now.» Words cannot begin to express how grateful we are. Not only did he go out of his way to do that for us, he also made our first experience signing a lease painless, but thorough.
He was professional, personable, enthusiastic. I felt like I was talking to someone I have known for years. I also find his love for the company admirable. He took some time to tell us about the history of Chandler Properties and how honored he is to be a part of such a wonderful company. What a gem.

I am honestly so happy, over the moon in fact. After months of apartment hunting, I had the pleasure of stumbling upon one of the properties under chandlers umbrella.
I can’t believe that I am so lucky to live in such a beautiful, clean, well taken care of apartment in one of the best cities in the world.
Most application processes seem so drawn out, I applied to my apartment and was accepted within a day.
