Specialties
We specialize in high-performance sailing yachts. We have two excellent ex-racing yachts. Both of these boats were built for speed and comfort on long ocean races.
Bay Wolf is certified for up to 24 passengers — perfect for corporate teambuilding event, or larger party for a birthday anniversary.
The advantages of sailing a racing yacht are several
1) If you are new to sailing, then the boat is easier to sail, because it is more responsive;
2) Fast boats are more fun, and
3) If you are an experienced sailor you know that sailing a slow tub is no fun at all — Our boats are a blast!
When you sail with us you sail with myself or with Captain Brian. We do NOT have a whole slew of part-time captains like the big sailing schools. Two full-time captains — two boats — that’s it. We focus on our customers and making sure that the boats are well maintained and sail really well.
Food and drink are always included and the prices are set to be reasonable — we try harder.
History
Established in 2002.
We have been in business since 2002. We started with our main boat «Flying Tiger» a 36 foot sloop. We now have a second boat — a Santa Cruz 50 footer. Both boats are performance sailboats and we pay attention to good maintenance so that they sail well.
We are a small business and treat each trip as special. When you book a trip with us — you know who you are dealing with and who will be your captain. The two boats are excellent and we spend lots of time and money keeping them sailing in top form.
In May 2009, I (Captain Kirk) completed a 7-month, 5,000 mile trip on Bay Wolf and she is again ready to sail on San Francisco Bay.
There are many other sailboat charter choices on the Bay — we feel we are among the best and we work REALLY hard to make sure we maintain the joy of sailing.
Meet the Business Owner
Kirk M.
Business Owner
I have been sailing most all of my life. My father built a 25 foot boat when I was a kid. In high school and college I spent lots of time playing around with boats.
Stanford — I came to California to complete my graduate work in Engineering at Stanford. I then worked in the US and overseas for 20 years and still stayed active with sailing — racing and cruising in San Francisco Bay, Carribean and East Coast.
In 2002 I decided to form the sailing business and have enjoyed the transition. I really enjoy sailing in San Francisco Bay and the enthusiasm and two excellent yachts make for a great charter experience. I enjoy getting people out on the water.
Long Voyages
I completed a trip across the Pacific in April 2002 — from the Galapagos to the Marquesas (3000 miles and 22 days at sea). It was a great experience.
From October 2008 to June 2009 I completed a 5000 mile trip to southern Mexico and back aboard Bay Wolf (our Santa Cruz 50). Another great experience.
