The Burritt Room

Tucked away up a flight of stairs in the Mystic Hotel is The Burritt Room, a rare classic hotel bar featuring a semi-private parlor, vintage couches and a long wooden bar lit by classic crystal chandeliers and backed by exposed brick. Named after the Nob Hill alley just off Bush Street that was the scene of the murder in The Maltese Falcon, The Burritt Room is refuge for hotel guests and locals alike. The extensive cocktail menu for The Burritt Room stretches from classics to seasonal takes.

History

Established in 2010.

The Burritt Room + Tavern, tucked into The Mystic Hotel, is under the influence of film noir. Named for Burritt Alley, where detective Sam Spade’s partner Miles Archer was gunned down in 1941 classic hardboiled crime film The Maltese Falcon, the distinctive atmospheric vibe shows up in the handcrafted cocktails as well as tavern’s walled-in and curtained booths that create dark corners for private conversation.

Enhancing flavor profiles by using the freshest product Northern California has to offer, Burritt Room + Tavern combines a strong sense of place with contemporary luxury.

Meet the Business Owner

Charlie P.

Business Owner

Since the beginning of his celebrated career, master Chef and hospitality entrepreneur Charlie Palmer has received critical acclaim for his signature Progressive American Cooking, a style built on rambunctious flavors and unexpected combinations with a deep and lasting infusion of classical French cuisine. Influenced by his childhood experiences working in his family’s vegetable garden, Palmer was an early advocate of farm over factory food. In 1988, he made a landmark commitment to creating dishes featuring regional American ingredients at his sublime three-star Aureole, now located in mid-town Manhattan within the Bank of America building at One Bryant Park.

Over the years, Palmer combined his creative cooking spirit and flair for business to open thirteen notable restaurants across the country, a growing collection of food-forward wine shops and award-winning boutique hotels.

A frequent guest on NBC’s Today Show, Charlie Palmer is also the author of four cookbooks.
