History

Established in 2014.

Bulldog Baths Dog Resort started in 2014. First we built out an incredible facility with luscious full wall gardens, comfy wall-​to-​wall pet turf, and state-​of-​the-​art ventilation. Next we insured that Pack Leaders not only have a love and passion for canine creatures, but have also earned their certifications from the International Boarding & Pet Services Association (IBPSA). Then we implemented ongoing cleaning procedures using industry recognized dog-​friendly sanitizers and enzymatic cleaners. Finally we designed customized activities to fit the needs of every dog.

We are proud to be making a difference in our Tenderloin Village as a strong contributor to the downtown renaissance with all its diversity, history, and culture. Our history really began in in 1930’s as the first and largest gay bathhouse, the Turk Street Baths. The facility did a makeover in the 1970’s and was reintroduced as the Bulldog Baths gay bathhouse. We are proud to honor that history.

Manager

Lindesay has worked professionally in animal care for almost 10 years, with an additional decade of volunteer service working with a vast variety of animals through 4-​H, and volunteer zookeeping. She has an affinity for spunky creatures, cute creatures, clever creatures, and loveable creatures. She is mildly obsessed with her own little Australian Cattledog, River, her cat soulmate Jean-​Luc, sunshine, gardening, food, and generally all things good in life.

To whom it may concern,
I am writing to inform you of a very unfortunate experience with Bulldog Baths.
My partner and I were going out of town and for the first time we decided to board our 4 month old boxer puppy for 4 nights. I was notified after a few days that our puppy had developed a skin reaction but that it was being treated and that she was still doing very well. So I didn’t worry.
When I came to pick her up I did not expect to see what I did. The skin reaction wasn’t a simple reaction, they were very obvious blisters covering her face from being in the sun for too long. When asked how long she had been kept on the rooftop deck I was told it had been for hours at a time. It seems like common sense that a puppy with short hair shouldn’t be in the sun for extended periods of time.
Unfortunately, the issues didn’t end there. The second we left Bulldog Baths my puppy’s entire body started clenching because she was trying to throw up but nothing was coming up. After a few hours of this not stopping I contacted the vet and was told very quickly that she had developed kennel cough.
When I called Bulldog Baths to notify them I wasn’t offered an apology, I was given an excuse that «oh, well we haven’t heard any coughing.»
Maggie’s hair has fallen out from the scabbing of her blisters. You can also see the discharge from her nose which is a side effect of the kennel cough that takes weeks to subside.
This has definitely taught my partner and I to be more discerning when it comes to where we board our pet.

I love dogs. I watch dogs for fun and have my own dogs because as I’ve already stated I LOVE dogs. But how much I love dogs pales in comparison to how knowledgeable, caring and engaging the pack leaders are at Bulldog Baths. But wait there’s more… Not only are the pack leaders great with your dogs, they are really nice to people too! Seriously, sometimes dog people can be weird; but they made me feel so comfortable and answered all my questions without the exasperated look like «do I really have to explain this again?» I was able to check in on my dogs, gets status and pictures with their nifty «Report Card» and relax knowing that they were in safe hands and paws. My dogs had a blast and the best part was I didn’t break the bank to board all three dogs. Thank you Groupon and Living Social. And Thank you Bulldog Baths for taking such great care of my big guys! They came home happy and fluffy clean.

My little girl (well, she’s 65-​lbs little.) is quite a happy, easy-​going dog. She wasn’t always this way though: when I rescued her as a stray, she was scared of everything, especially on walks and anywhere outside of home. She walked with her tail tucked between her legs, and every noise startled her.
A year later, she’s become a completely different dog. While she doesn’t play-​wrestle with other dogs, she’ll go say hi, then go back to humans for pets and cuddles. This was confirmed by the lovely staff of Bulldog Baths, who sent me a report card during each day of boarding; it said her favorite activities were snuggling, and supervising the smaller dogs at play.
I couldn’t be happier with Bulldog Baths, who provided a clean, central location for Maya to stay. With the daily report card that includes photos (and also notes how much food they ate at each meal), it’s a great way for me to know she’s being well taken care of.

I was incredibly nervous about boarding my dog for the first time. I had to leave town for three days, and my dog is a high maintenance, high energy girl. We live on nob hill, and I chose bulldog baths because it was conveniently located and I liked their «wolf pack» mentality. The staff were awesome and sent us a ton of photos and videos of our dog playing with the pack during her stay. The facility is really cool (its history is quintessential San Francisco… Look it up!!), and the rooftop play area is really unique. I highly recommend Bulldog Baths to any dog owner looking for a reasonably priced, safe, and happy place for their pup!

Janet loves her days and occasional sleepovers at Bulldog Baths so much; I’m starting to get jealous, insecure that she loves her friends there (human and canine) more than she loves me. She bounces off the walls as soon as I drop her off, and always comes home exhausted. The folks at Bulldog send me a report card with pictures and videos for every session, and they fill me in in the details and observations during pick up and drop off. They’re flexible and accommodating, very affordable, and also committed to strengthening and giving back to the neighborhood and making the TL a better place for all.

We had our 60-​lb dog stay with bulldog baths over the Xmas holidays and it worked out fantastic! Lindsey and the staff were communicative and very accommodating. Our dog, Maggie, even came home smelling so nice since they offer baths after stays beyond 3 nites! When Maggie left her collar, bulldog mailed it back to us promptly. We couldn’t be happier with their service and attentiveness. We will definitely board out dog with them again and soon!

Bulldog Baths is great! I take my dog there for daycare everyday when I’m at work. We also board her there when we travel out of town. The staff truly cares about the well-​being of my dog. In fact, she seems more social and confident since I started bringing her to Bulldog Baths. I know my dog is safe and well cared for when she’s there.

Love Bulldog Baths! I send my hyperactive Jack Russell here for doggie daycare more or less every weekday and he comes home exhausted at the end of the day after running around with his pals.
They’re really flexible with reservations and pick-​up/​drop-​off times which is a big help, and rates are similar to if not cheaper than other places I’ve taken my dog in the city.
Additionally all of the employees are professional, friendly and clearly love dogs!

This place is awesome!
If you are looking for a doggy daycare/​pet boarding look no further. Lindsey was very accommodating when my flight got delayed and I called last minute to inform her my dog Nini will have to stay for an extra night. She sent me a report card that contained lots of great action shots of her as well as a food log. The icing on the cake is that they provide a free bath if your dog stays for 3 or more nights. I have taken my dog to Wag and various other doggy daycare and I must admit I feel the most confident with my dogs stay at Bulldog Bath.

I LOVE bulldog baths!!! I was nervous to try a new boarding place for my little baby Brea, being a new resident of San Francisco, and when I found this one I wasn’t sure because it was new and didn’t have very many reviews. I’m so glad I chose to take her here! The staff was amazing, helpful and conscientious of me and my dogs needs. They have a great facility, no cages, and 24⁄7 supervision which I love. That even do grooming as well which is great. My dog came back happy and tired from all the playing which I also loved. I told Linsey at dropoff that my dog had been super itchy and when I picked her up they had given her a free bath just because she seemed uncomfortable… how nice is that?!? I will definitely be coming back for all the times I need to board my dog in the future! Thanks bulldog baths!

I absolutely loved this place!
I was leaving to socal back in December for a couple days & I needed my dog boarded & I came across this place on groupon. I purchased a voucher that offered 3 days & nights of boarding. I was so happy to hear that they were completely cage free! My 9 month old pitbull was able to run around and play and socialize with other dogs.
I ended up dropping my dog off 1 night earlier than originally planned & called in to let them know I was going to pick him up a day late. They were very flexible & it wasn’t even a problem. My dog stayed about 5 nights & 4 days so I ended up paying the additional night only, and a whole day & night on top of the groupon.
I also got a follow up email about my dog, just to know how he was doing & pictures were also attached. I thought that was so thoughtful, thank you!
When I came to pick up my dog Kobe, he was so happy & playful I knew he had an amazing time here. They gave him a complimentary bath since he stayed 3 or more nights which was really nice. & he also got to take home their super cute bandana!
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Give them a try, you’ll be very satisfied. They also offer FREE 1 day play for sf residents. I live in Alameda so I didn’t get that offer): but the groupon was great!

We love this terrific, well-​managed dog care facility for our pooch! They just opened up in our mid-​Market neighborhood and you can tell the staff and management have put a LOT of thought and care into the overall atmosphere and personal attention to the dogs. It’s cage free, so the dogs get to socialize, and a «pack leader» (aka dog watcher) is interacting and looking after the dogs at all times. The facility is super clean and cheerful, too, full of live plants, bright lights, and AstroTurf… They even have a roof deck play area! Our pooch Zila seems to be really happy at Bulldog Baths — she’s a large dog and needs lots of exercise — she comes home tired and content everyday and sleeps like a baby!
