From kibble to cashmere, Bow Wow Meow offers a unique shopping experience. By combining the product selection of a pet food store with that of a pet boutique our wide range of products is second to none.

Pet grooming is available 7 days a week and we always strive to keep both pet and pet guardian comfortable. We also offer training classes, vaccine clinics, teeth cleaning, and adoption fairs.

I come here for my cat and dog. They have a great selection of grain free, natural food options, which can be challenging to find at the big box stores.
They also customize dog and cat collars on the spot.
A bit more expensive than Petco but they have a much better selection and it is definitely worth the convenience.
The staff is nice and welcoming — nice neighborhood spot!

I walked by this shop and decided to go into check it out. They have a bakery section by the cashier and I thought it would be cute to buy my dog a little gift. One of the cookies was on sale for 75% off. In retrospect, I should have given more thought before purchasing, but I jumped the gun and decided to buy it.
Even if it’s understandably a discounted cookie because it’s older (and possibly expired?), it should at least still be edible. Unfortunately not. This cookie was so hard that I couldn’t break it with my hands. I couldn’t even cut it with a knife. Worse of all, my dog who usually has a low bar for treats couldn’t eat it.
I ended up throwing it away. Although the cookie was less than $ 1, I’m writing this review because I don’t think they should have been selling a treat that stale in the first place. It was a huge disappointment.

I’ve been going here for many years, with two dogs. It’s a great place to shop at-​alot of items to make your little pal happy! Always go here for a cut and wash. It does take time, so I prefer to drop off my dogs in early am and pick up afternoon. Always groomed, good looking and smell good. Highly recc. They do listen to you and can suggest few things.

Had my fickle chihuahuas’ nails clipped and it was easy breezy. They don’t make me hold the dogs while they do it. I hate doing that! Also a great variety of leashes, treats, and cute collars. I bought one of those harnesses with a handle on it for my senior guy who doesn’t like being picked up on account of his arthritis. Made in the USA and he loves it! they also have Buddy Belts and those rock!

I love bow wow meow!
My husband and I recently got a puppy, so this place has been a Godsend. We are there buying food, treats, collars, harnesses, getting puppy classes, and getting our little frenchie’s nails trimmed (it’s only $ 10 here, and the vet charges $ 25, its such a deal!). The staff is always really helpful and friendly, and their bins of treats (either a lb for $ 4.00 or lb for $ 9.00 depending on the bin) are really fun; I bought a bunch of fun sprinkle treats and cheesy treats for the little one! This place spoils my pup.
The only draw back is there is a limited selection of raw food/​kibble. I would call ahead to make sure they have your brand before you head over!

Absolutely horrifying business. Rudest owner I’ve ever encountered. I bought my 6-​lb dog two birthday toys, one of which had fuzz flying off of it within minutes. I understand if toys break, but not in such a quick period of time, especially with a small dog. I went in the store and asked if I could exchange it for a more sturdy toy, even if it was of lesser value. He just shook his head and said «no, no, no… see you later.» Do yourselves a favor and stay away from these guys. I can only imagine how they treat their animals if this is how they treat their human customers.

I really love bow wow meow! They have an excellent selection of harnesses that are fantastic for small pups, even cute ones that will avoid their trachea.
They also have an amazing selection of treats and toys and dog foods! They have dog grooming and teeth cleaning, which I haven’t tried so I cannot speak to, however every time I go in the owner will talk to us and her and her dogs, and staff are so great!
They have a decent selection of beds, car seats and bags, but if you are looking for something specific in this department you may want to — call first because items go fast. The owner has offered to order something for me once which was super sweet.
They have so many barrels and barrels of treats, your dog will love this store.

What a cute place!
My cat goes there to get a haircut. I adore when they confirm appointment by saying — FJ (my cat’s name) Faller (my last name, so as his) has an appointment this day this time.
In general, the place is very good. People are very welcoming and polite. They treat pets very well.
My cat is afraid haircuts — well he is afraid of anything that is outside of his apartment — but they treat him very well there.
His first haircut was amazing. I asked for a lion cut and they did it perfectly.
The second time we came there, they cut his fur a little too short. He was very stressed after the procedure. But the job was done great.
I definitely recommend this place. I absolutely adore them.

Bow Wow Meow on Polk is a fantastic pet store with a great variety and a friendly staff. I started taking my cat there to get her nails trimmed because they’re half the price of the vet and I was told you don’t need an appointment for just a nail trim. I usually go on the weekends, but will be gone this weekend so I needed to go on a weeknight. Their website says grooming services begin at 8am and they close at 8pm. I made the journey there and arrived at 6:45 and was told the groomers «left really early today» and that they’re regularly gone by 5 or 6. This is rather important information that would be helpful to have on the website to save people unnecessary trips. I’ll continue to go back, but I’m seriously disappointed.

My dog needed an emergency haircut this morning because she’s going on flight within couple hours, and it’s gonna be hot in the kennel. The staff and groomer helped us and we got the flight on time and everything’s great! Thanks Bow a Wow Meow!

Love this Pet Grooming and Pet Store!
I have our two small dogs groomed there and they do an awesome job Everytime!
I get treats from the store and gifts for our feline! Everyone is very friendly from the boss Amy to everyone else — if ur looking for a grooming salon or a new place to get pet supplies — try Bowwow Meow– I highly recommend them!

I made an 11:00 appointment for my dog to be groomed (vs the only other slot available at 2:00) and came to pick up my dog at 5:00. My dog wasn’t ready. The owner chastised me for coming without being called first. She told me to come back in half an hour. I did, and the dog wasn’t ready. The owner asked if I had been called and I reminded her SHE told me to come back in 30 minutes. I waited another 15 minutes for the dog. Overpriced store, rude owner. Great name and great selection of merchandise.

Not only does my dog hate this place, they gave her FLEAS!
I usually go to Pet Grooming Headquarters, which is run by a really sweet lady who loves my girl. I have a maltese, so it can take a lot of upkeep to keep her hair in good condition. While I was traveling, my dog sitter took her to Bow Wow Meow. They gave her a very short puppy cut, which I didn’t mind, because I wasn’t here to take care of her hair and I want her to be comfortable. HOWEVER, they also gave my dog fleas! She has never had fleas before and we’re having difficulty eradicating them from the house.
Also, I don’t know what they did, but my dog HATES going there. She doesn’t like grooming, but at least at other spot she is relatively calm and she likes the groomer. When I pick her up, she is happy and trotting around. Now, if we go anywhere near Bow Wow Meow even just on a walk, she starts trembling and barking. I’ve never seen her react so negatively to a place. Our dogs can’t tell us exactly what they are thinking, but my girl has made her feelings about the place clear and I am definitely NEVER taking her back!

there are plenty of dog grooming options in the russian hill /​marina area. i’ve had my dog groomed by most. hands down, bow wow meow delivers the most consistent and reasonably priced grooming. i also love that they’re almost always able to fit my dog in for a bath the same day i call. they do keep my dog for a long time (sometimes 4+ hours), but other groomers have similarly long waits. most importantly, my pup looks cute as a button after she gets bathed and groomed, AND sometimes the groomer puts a ridiculously cute bow in her hair. ACK!
in addition to solid grooming, bow wow meow has an awesome selection of doggie outfits, halloween costumes, etc. — you name it, they’ve got it! doggie life jacket? check. doggie bikini? check. doggles (dog googles, duh)? check. cutest doggie pajama onesies ever? check. my dog’s fashion quotient has increased tenfold since she started accessorizing at bow wow meow. i highly recommend bow wow meow for all your doggie needs.

I highly recommend Bow Wow Meow’s pet grooming services, having been with Xavier since the doors opened (he has moved on now and is teaching). Amy, the store manager, opened the doors and has shaped the business into a high-​quality, consistent and reasonably priced entity. The personnel are extremely careful to learn what they are expected to do; the grooming area is clean and organized; and the 8:00 a.m. «In-&-Out» service is a true convenience.

I dropped in to get my dogs nails dremmelled. They took her right in. 5 minutes later they brought her out to me. Her nails were still long and now jagged and sharp. They took her back in. Two minutes later out she comes. Nails still long and jagged. I took her up front and complained about how jagged and long her nails were. They took her back a third time to «round them» (which is why I wanted them dremmelled and not cut). One minute later out she comes still long and jagged, not round. I took her back upfront very unpleased. The groomer came out and started arguing with me telling me they were as good as she could get them. Odd how I’m not a professional groomer but I can get them short and rounded. I told them I wouldn’t be back. She responded, «good.» What a waste of $ 20. I had to go home and re-​dremmel her nails.

I’ve been to a lot of pet stores in the city, and Bow Wow Meow is probably my favorite. They’re definitely pricier than most other places, but their selection and quality of products are one of the best, especially for such a small store. The staff is always super helpful and friendly. They have a membership program that allows you to accumulate points with every purchase, which is awesome because it saved me around $ 15 on my last bag of food.
I had my terrier-​mix get a haircut here once, and we were all very pleased with the outcome. He now has a killer mohawk and mane, which the groomer nicely trimmed and preserved. :)
I love their little island of assorted treats and how you’re allowed to sample them to your dogs. No wonder my babies love coming here. They try to drag me in every time we pass by!

My dog and I took puppy classes here and really enjoyed visiting the store. The shop is very welcoming with its two butler bulldog statues and water bowls out front. There are tons of treats and cute clothes with a wide variety of healthy dog food options. I haven’t utilized grooming, but during my six week puppy class I received a discount on all goods and services at the store, which was a huge savings as my puppy was growing out of collars and needed treats for training exercises. I wish I had used it on grooming!
I remember one time I was in there and a lady who was shopping for cat food told me she always came by the store on Monday nights so she could see the puppies waiting for class to start. So, if you happen to be on Polk St. around 7 pm, that’s the time to stop in! My only complaint is that parking is somewhat difficult, but then again, that could be said for many places in the city. There is metered parking on the street and a few expensive lots/​garages a few blocks away.
