Customer service was helpful throughout the entire process, from initial fitting questions to the return of the rental. Responses by the Black Tux representatives were always prompt and informative.

Stopped in yesterday to get a tuxedo fitting for a wedding at the end of the month and was hugely impressed. Michael was quick and helpful, prices are reasonable, and they gave me the rental already so that I didn’t need to make an extra trip to pick it up. Great spot!

Pros: The service I got was great and they spent time finding what worked best for me. They took their time and did a good job finding what worked with the ceremony. Michael was great at figuring out what’s fits well and went out of his way even after closing hours to ensure I was happy with the style and got a stellar fitted suit for my wedding.
Cons: I’m 1 hour before the ceremony and took a closer look at the shirt they provided me to find black spots all over it from it being ironed/​pressed with something that had black gunk all over it. I was really hoping to give a more stellar review form the initial service but providing a white shirt with stains to a groom is subpar QC. I should have taken a closer look before leaving the store a few days ago, but I feel this should’ve been caught by the staff.

I am giving 5 stars because they gave me a courtesy measurement for a suit, and insisted no charge. The service oriented approach to their work speaks to an integrity that is top notch.

This place is great. I needed a tux the day before an event and Alex took care of me right away. He made sure the fit was just right, was really knowledgable about all the styles, and even pulled out fashion magazines to show me subtle styling tips. Alex made me look good!
Betsy was also very helpful and worked with me on some logistical challenges. Will definitely go back there for the next black tie event.

I needed a black suit in an emergency, and I was very fortunate to find these guys. I managed to rent a black suit, white shirt, black tie, and cuff links for $ 140 within one hour. I appreciate that they were flexible with the return as well, because I was jet-​lagged and exhausted for a day or so.
If you need to rent a suit in a hurry, give this place a shot — wouldn’t hurt to call in and check if they have your size in stock.

AMAZING! I walked in last minute looking for a tuxedo for tonight, same day! They gladly set me up with expert style and class. They have in house tailoring and all their clothing is on site not in some warehouse. Their rentals look like your own and their attention to detail and prices are supreme. Highly recommend them for rentals or purchase!

Michael set me up with everything I needed for a black tie fundraiser and I was out of there in less than 1 hour. Very reasonable price of $ 145. He knew the style and cut to fit my height and size. Excellent service. Parking is validated.

Bought my tux for the wedding here. I spoke to Alex first but Michael ended up helping me to pick out a tux, shirt, cuff links, bow tie and shoes. He’s very professional and knowledgable. Highly recommended, will definitely come back.

Michael is awesome! My fiancé and I came in after purchasing my dress at Bridal Galleria and Michael made shopping for a tux a breeze. We also found a fantastic vest that really pulls the tux together. Great customer service, fantastic selection, and of course, Michael’s top-​notch expertise make shopping here a no-​brainer.

Alex fitted my son for a tuxedo rental for senior prom. Alex was warm, friendly, knowledgeable. Most of my son’s friends went to Men Wearhouse and paid between $ 200-​$ 250. Alex hooked us up with with the whole shebang for only $ 140 (black tux, white shirt, black vest and shoes).
Don’t let the location scare you away. We went on a Saturday morning and the store was easy to get to and they validate parking.

When I called this business to inquire about tuxedo rental for an upcoming black tie event, Michael Davenport answered the phone and he was so helpful. I haven’t rented a tuxedo since high school prom so I couldn’t remember how the process works but he explained everything to me very thoroughly and we scheduled a fitting appointment for later in the week.
When I met with Michael, I could tell right away that he is very competent/​knows what he’s doing. He made sure he understood my needs and started handing me items to try on… first a jacket. I thought it looked fine but he said he didn’t like it and gave me another one to try on. Well, he was right on there because the 2^nd jacket looked much better on me. I thought that was really telling of his service commitment. Most representatives probably would have let me go with that first jacket because I said it looked fine just to get me out the door and help more clients/​make more sales. But Michael is not most representatives. He went beyond my expectations to make sure I was satisfied with the rental. So if you are in need of tuxedo rental, this is an excellent option to consider. I would go back!

My partner and I rented tuxedos for our wedding and our wedding celebration at a local restaurant. Michael (the owner, I believe) was extremely helpful and he knew what he was doing. The rental included everything except the shoes (we used our own black shoes which worked out just fine) and we bought some colorful studs and cuff links (these are surprisingly inexpensive on-​line). We looked great in the tuxedos and they were worth every penny. We highly recommend this place (especially if you’re able to work with Michael).

These guys were a great service. I’ve found it quite difficult to find good quality places for such things in the US. (Aka Europe has better variety and quality in menswear). But these guys do so very well. Michael is super friendly and get’s mens style. As they have their own stock they can turn things around pretty quickly and if you go early for a fitting and gain a few or lose a few lbs then they’ve got the spares to get the right fit for you. Which is what they did for me.
Michael gave me two shirts to change from ceremony to reception and fitted them with different shirt studs to give a day and night feel which was subtle but nice.
The only reason I am giving them 4 stars and not 5 is the left pant leg came undone after first few photos so until I could get some pins had to keep folding it under myself. Thankfully this didn’t show in our pictures.
If the occasion arises I’ll be calling on them again for a tux.
A tip: Make sure to buy a set of suspenders (braces) WITH THE CLIPS. no loops to put belts through (and its a tux-​No belts allowed!

Michael and his staff are the best and most knowledgeable people in the entire SF Bay area. I’m a stickler for protocol and Michael knew exactly what I was saying when I described what I needed. Top quality tuxedos, very reasonable prices and years of experience all make Black Tie the only people I’ll do business.

Great, modern fitting tux. Excellent customer service through the whole process. Jos A Bank is laughable in comparison. Shipping process through Fed-​ex was easy and fast. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great tux.

Michael was extremely helpful, the second we walked in the shop he and Alex welcomed us. Knowing nothing about tuxedos he was super patience, explained everything and got us the best looking charming manly one.
All for an amazing price!

I came to Black Tie after a very frustrating experience at Nordstrom’s flagship store in San Francisco. I had less than a week to buy a tux and get it altered for an event of 1000 plus people.
Although I was a bit on edge, and I’m a very picky consumer, Michael was perfect! He spent a lot of time with me and the humor, banter, and tips really made it a wonderful experience. I tried on 4 or 5 different tuxes and decided to purchase a beautiful Boss Tux. He had it ready in 2 days. When I came to pick it up we spent a great deal of time picking out the perfect shirt, bow tie and beautiful handmade cuff links from London. The Tux was perfect and looks magnificent. All along this process Michael gave me tips and ideas on how to look great in this tux and how to take care of everything I purchased.
Ive done a lot of shopping over the years across Europe and North America, and have purchased many high quality clothes and shoes. I have never received the amount of personalized attention and service than this trip to Black Tie. And Ive been shopping for clothes for about 30 years. Michael Davenport is the Best.
