Where do I begin? i can only describe my visit as bizarre… I showed up a bit early and was directed to have a seat in the small waiting room. I surfed the net on my phone for a while until I began to hear the male electorologist, who would soon be working on me, talking very loudly to his patient about the George Zimmerman trial. The patient, who seemed to not want to engage, merely replied «mhmmm» and «ohhhh» as he began to detail how Trayvon Martin’s family received a million dollars, how his parents weren’t together (though it was depicted that they were), that the defense used pictures of him that were younger than what he really was, that George Zimmerman didn’t invoke stand your ground… I mean… a little too political for a visit to your esthetician’s office. I was uncomfortable just listening to it.
As the woman left, she looked at me sheepishly. My turn. I’m African American and his first question was had I been referred by another one of his patients, a nurse in Oakland. No, dude, you mean your other black patient? I don’t know her. Damn. If these freaking upper lip hairs weren’t so noticeable, and I didn’t have a new boyfriend I’m trying to impress, I’d be gone.
Sit in the chair. He then begins to talk to me about the Fruitvale Station movie — have I seen it? How factual is it? Possibly, not very… Had I heard all the Zimmerman protestors in the area? Do I live in Oakland? Oh… SF?!
Yeah, but don’t worry about it, you won’t be seeing me again.

This place is awesome. Ruth is honest, professional and fun. We started my electrosys sessions in June and in just three months, I can see the results. She is not into selling expensive creams/​treatments, $ making machine as they do with some laser services. It’s about what works for your budget and how your hair/​skin reacts to the treatment. Ruth and her partner, Steve, are great; flexible, responsive and easy to work with… their location is great/​easy to access. Strongly reccommend them.

When it came to deciding who to go to for my treatment I knew it had to be Ruth. My mother recommended I see her and I learned long ago to never doubt my mother. Ruth is an amazing woman with whom I’ve come to think of as a close friend. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed, she has never made me feel awkward.
I highly recommend Ruth to everyone looking for a comfortable experience and an awesome well done job!
