Happy with my hair cut from Ali. She’s sweet but the experience with the receptionist was awful. When entering the salon around 1pm the two receptionist gave me a «are you stupid?» look when I asked if it was alright I was early for my appointment because if it wasn’t it was okay, I wanted to get coffee anyway. The brunette receptionist on the left of the desk ignored what I said and told me to just have a seat. Ali greeted me and offered me coffee! How weird was that? The receptionist could have replied? Maybe mention they have coffee?
I didn’t mind the first interaction but when I was paying the brunette receptionist after the cut, she talked me very rudely when I asked how much time I have to return for a complimentary bang trim (because I saw that they charged). Ali had told me about the complimentary trim while I was in the chair and when I asked the receptionist she kept replying (about 5 times) «it’s a bang trim» Again, with the «are you stupid?» look. Yes, I know it’s a bang trim, I’m asking about it (: I had enough and just ran up to Ali myself. For such a nice salon located in downtown with skilled hair stylist, it’s ashamed that the experience was so unpleasant because of the salon’s receptionist. Honestly, the salon should hire someone who actually wants to be there and likes interacting with people. There are people far more deserving of that job.

The five stars is for Ali Moss, who killed it on my curly hair the other day. She was lovely, easy to talk to, listened to what I wanted, gave me her ideas, did all the things that a five star rating demand, and was just all around awesome. The space was also super nice, location — top notch. All good things. I would highly recommend Ali to ladies with curls. Thanks, lady!

I had a truly great experience at Atelier Emmanuel salon the other day. I had an appointment with Victor and I’m really lucky as he knows how to deal with my hair type.
I’ve been growing my hair out for a couple of years, so my previous haircut came to the point when it looked like a mess. The same was with my color: I was in desperate need to even it up and make it look alluring rather than plain natural.
I have fine European hair, which is never straight or wavy enough. So I wanted a new hairstyle that will be easy to maintain, that won’t affect the length that much and a color that won’t destroy my hair, as it is quite tricky to dye.
Miraculously, Victor did it all. He took away all the split ends and made the layers that I had look neat, so I still have almost the same length. He gave me advice how to blow dry my hair if I want a refined look, though the cut he gave me looks great with just an airdry. As for the color, I went with the shade of dark
blonde that Victor suggested me (I don’t remember the exact name of the shade, but believe me, there is much more that 50 shades of blondes!). In terms of customer service, Victor was very attentive to my needs, we had a nice chat and I had fun, without being interrogated about my private life. You know, happens sometimes in those salons.
The salon itself is clean and big, it feels like a fun place to spend time while investing into outer beauty. The service is amazing and is worth every dollar.

I was looking for a hair stylist for some time now. Finally, I found one who is professional and attentive to your wishes and needs. I booked an appointment in Atelier Emmanuel Salon with Victor. I wanted to have a new hair cut and Viktor listened carefully and made great recommendations how to refresh my hairstyle for summer. His fine touch gave my hair flawless look and feel. Beautiful layers created lots of volume now I don’t need to spend lots of time with my hair in the morning.
Viktor is not only a great hair stylist but he has great personally over great conversation time just flew by and I left not only with great hair but in a great mood.

Had my first cut at Atelier Emmanuel and it was an incredible experience all around. Ali Moss was my stylist and she gave me a gorgeous, cool & chic cut. One of the best I’ve ever had. In addition to the amazing cut, they go above and beyond in customer service. I arrived soaked after getting caught biking in a rainstorm on the way over, and one of the staff approached me and asked if I would like them to dry my wet clothes while I was getting the cut. Um seriously?! Needless to say, I walked out in toasty dry clothes with a fab haircut. Thanks for your kindness!

Claudia is featured in Allure Magazine’s, «Best» list for good reason. Her work is amazing! She is professional, friendly, and does fantastic colour. I love the natural-​looking balayage/​highlight combo that she wove into my strands. It looks sun-​kissed. She was able to stay away from the orange tones that plague brunettes who go lighter.

6 weeks out from my wedding, I needed a haircut, and my old stylist is no longer around. I was VERY nervous about a cut from a stranger, but came to Edgar off of a review from a friend. I have naturally curly hair, but plan to wear it straight for the wedding weekend, so told Edgar I was more interested in that it looked good straight than curly (I’ve never really found a stylist that can satisfy both). Well, he did both — the cut looks amazing straight, but it’s also one of the best curly cuts I’ve ever had. So happy I went to see him, and have a new stylist!

Finally found a place that produces consistently great haircuts! In the 3 years that I’ve been living in the city, I’ve visited 10+ barbershops/​hair salons with prices ranging from $ 15 — $ 80 for a men’s haircut. None of them have matched up to Mari’s awesome skills here at Atelier Emmanuel. She’s basically my life coach now, and sometimes I feel like my appointments have become therapy sessions. It’s been 10 months now and I couldn’t be happier. Also, this place treats me like a king. A KING!

This is a long over due review for Claudia. I have THICK kinda curly, kinda kinky, kinda straight hair. Yes, I know, how can I have curly, kinky and straight hair? Well I don’t know but it’s a pain to deal with. I loved my hair dresser before I saw Claudia but she moved and I needed to find someone new. After the humming and hawing I decided to bite the bullet and she go for it. Find someone new and take a risk. You know it’s nerve wracking to try someone new. Anyway, when I first met her she had an awesome smile and was so friendly! I knew I would like her immediately. We chatted, I needed to take enough off to get my hair back to healthy (it had been about 5 months since my last cut) and I needed to get the bulk out. Well after my wash she parted my hair and started going at it. I was a little nervous to see all the hair on the floor, but when she was done I felt so much lighter! Then she gave me a nice blow out and I felt like a million bucks. Now in the back of my mind I was slightly freaking out because I didn’t know how it would be to wear my hair curly like I normally do everyday. Well, let me tell you, easy peasy! It’s been great to wear curly and down and it’s been weeks since I got my hair cut! And I still get compliments on my hair!!! So to end this review, Claudia was amazing with my hair! She’s also super nice so I really enjoyed my whole experience with Claudia.
I’m note going to dock Claudia any stars for this because it’s not within her control, but the chick that checked me in and out, ugh, if she could pull the stick out of her ass and realize that she’s in a customer service roll and be nice! Just saying.

I’ve been coming here for years. Paul at Atelier continues to do amazing color with my hair! He truly is a master colorist. The staff is fun, professional, friendly and truly knows hair! Paul gives me the shade of red I love that feels most me. Highly recommend them!

After being a newbie in SF for 4.5 months, it was really time to get a haircut. There were far too many salons to select from but I chose Atelier Emmanuel based on their partnership with our apartment building, NEMA.
My appointment was with Mari and it was truly one of the best haircut experiences I’ve ever had. She took the time to really understand the look I wanted, provided recommendations and talked me through how I can style it easily. She was meticulous and so fun at the same time. It was so nice to be able to have a conversation with my stylist and not on the weather!
I’m definitely going back to see Mari!
And yes, I love my haircut!

Each time my hair grew out it felt like a new cut and style.
Adrien, the lead stylist, has alot of experience, from the runways to the catalogs — you can feel it when he cuts your hair. Sometimes when I first get introduced to a salon, its hair roulette. The intention to let the stylist pick a hairstyle for me which I did at Atelier Emmanuel.
Cut, he went through each layer with precision and thorough meticulousness. He chose a symmetrical style where my hair looked naturally layered from all angles with sideswept bangs. Overall finish was natural, textured, and stylish at the same time. The result color and highlight made me look brighter, fun, and more sunkissed from brunette.
Customer service, a nice time — they offer drinks, chat, and make sure you are comfortable. Receptionist is friendly and the owner is also very friendly, he said «hello» while he was with a client. Definitely priced on the premium end, but worth the cost if you’re looking for no mistakes. Come here to find lots of storied experience, dedicated staff and history.

Ali Moss gave me a transformation today and I am in love with it! I have had long hair for as long as I can remember, I went into the salon just wanting a change, no knowledge about hair or what looks good on me and she worked her magic. She was so nice and easy to talk to, and gave me some detailed tips about how I can style at home since Im not used to styling and maintaining my hair. The color she put in is beautiful! Looks very natural with my roots but enough of a difference for people to notice and compliment :) Ali is a master of her craft and I would highly recommend a cut and color from her! Thank you Ali!

Love this Salon! My boyfriend get’s his hair done by Emmanuel and I love the way it looks! He enhances his natural texture and wave in his dark blonde hair. So I asked to go to his Salon and love the way my hair turned out by Nelly! She is so sweet and understands exactly how I want my blonde to look with natural sunkissed golden, and honey highlights! She also cuts and styles beautiful beachy sexy waves in my hair! I highly recommend this Salon! Everyone I see getting their hair done there walks out looking great and happy!

I was a haircut client, not someone who came in just for bang trims. Actually, a month elapsed between services (May 15^th, got a bang trim, mani, pedi… and then last week when I got a bang trim and posted my review). I had been going to your salon for over two years, never had an issue until this last time.
When I went in the other day, I did not expect to get free services. I had been charged $ 10 in the past for bang trims and that was what I was expecting to pay, not including tip.
As for the 3 months in between haircuts, that seems fair as a general guideline, but in my case, I have long hair and rarely need a full cut… which is why I opt in for other services at the salon.
It’s just sad to see a business trying so hard to win new customers goof up on not treating existing customers well.
Which reminds me, I’m due for my bi-​annual haircut. Time to take my money and spend it at a salon that values my business.

For anyone reading, I’d like to take the opportunity to clarify our Bang Trim policy. We generally do NOT charge for bang trims performed in-​between haircuts. The exceptions are: when the period between cuts exceeds a reasonable length of time (example: more than 3 months); when the client is requesting more than a bang trim.
We DO charge for people who are getting the bang trim without being a haircut client. This seems fair to us. Otherwise, we would just be giving free services to the public!
We encourage clients to get bang trims with the person who cuts their hair. The team, however, tends to be good about handling one another’s bang trims — at no charge — when it is not possible for you to see your regular stylist.

Overpriced. $ 18 for a bang trim, even with stylists you’ve seen before. Apparently, you have to declare your stylist like declaring insurance.
Way to ensure I’ll never go there for hair, or any other service.

This salon is wonderful! It’s modern and elegant and just so fancy. I received the best service ever from my stylist. She offered my water and coffee and was oh so patient with me: D making up my mind with my hair. The massage chair and head message in the shampoo area was so rad! I had such a great experience… Thank you!

In a pinch need a facial, makeup or hair cut, come to check out Emmanuel salon. Emmanuel cuts with scissors fine exact and true to the style. Everyone here is great, happy staff always to go out of their way for your comfort. Plenty of chairs, wall of windows let’s natural light in. Even has manicurist and massage therapists. See Alisa for a salon facial. A lot of hair products you can’t be disappointed. Easy access across Stockton /​Sutter parking garage!

Long hair don’t care is a false statement… I’m going all in on this hunch but I think all you long hairs out there care big time and probably would probably freak out if your hair came out to be ready for a cirque du solei performance.
I’ve been cutting my own hair for years because I had the hardest time finding a great stylist. There were so many different salons I’ve been to and I’d leave dissatisfied every time. Got me thinking… why am I paying for someone to f*** up my hair when I can do it myself? One day a friend told me to give Atelier Emmanuel a shot and gave me a gift card to check it out. First time I went I had Martin who was very friendly and knowledgeable. He explained and went through the different ways I could possibly do my hair. After we finished he went through the different products with me and how it will affect the look of my hair. Thanks for the awesome cut Martin.
Since then Edgar has been my solid go to stylist. Always amazing with his scissors and creative. My hair was to my shoulders and since then we have tried a couple of different looks. For all your long hairs out there, you know you trust your stylist when you let him chop half of your hair. That was exactly what we did. It was a sweet goodbye to long hair. We went for an undercut and kept the bangs and tapered off towards the back. It was just the refreshing change I needed for the new season. We played around with some hair products to see what worked for me. I left with a few different things that gave my style different looks. They’ve been working wonders… from volume, to shine, to matte, to freeze hold, to soft hold, to clay, to pomade, and everything in between. My collection of hair products look like my collection of fine scotch and reds in my cellar… stacked.
Besides the hair styling, there’s something that I love even more while I’m there. You guessed it! Ok I don’t really know if you guessed it but I’m gonna tell you anyway. I don’t want them to stop when they shampoo my hair!!! Love how they give you the most relaxing massage on your scalp while they clean and condition your hair! It’s not one of those quick ba da bing ba da boom massages. They totally take their time pampering your senses as they sensually focus pressure points relieving any stress you may have had before you got there. It’s such a nice and comfy setting too that I just don’t want it to end. I hate it when that wonderfully warm feeling of water blankets over me as it rinses away the conditioner… I know this relaxing massage is coming to an end.
The ever so lovely Gigi M. just loves coming here to get the princess treatment. She absolutely loves it here because of Edgar. She just got a new look from Edgar before she left me here alone, and headed to London and Paris with her BFF for a couple of weeks. I still remember how happy she looked and couldn’t wait to take a dozen selfies. I totally live for those moments these days… that beautiful smile… as it went with her beautiful new look.
Come here and look for Edgar and if he’s not there ask for Martin. If you want your hair styled right, you know where to go… don’t say I didn’t tell you so :)

Shelley and the awesome team from Bella Pelle just joined up with Atelier Emmanuel. I’ve visited them twice in the new space so far and am happy to report that I’m still getting the same amazing Bella Pelle service and at even better prices! (bonus, I can get my bumble and bumble AND my cherry lifesaver in one visit).
Most recently I sent my husband here to have his bad knee waxed. He needed to be able to tape it during the Aids Lifecycle bike ride and the thought of shaving it throughout the 7 days sounded tricky. Shelley to the rescue who managed to make a partial leg wax look as natural as possible on a dude.
