ABC Window Contractors

I really appreciate the prompt response from ABC windows. I was given an appointment time shortly after I had left a message on their voicemail, was given a reminder call and Alex showed up right on time. My husband and I knew nothing about window replacement and Alex educated us on reasons why windows need replacing allowing us to make our own informed decision. We decided that we actually did not need to replace our windows and needless to say saved our money for other necessary house repairs. Thanks Alex. I will recommend ABC to anyone who needs window replacement and definitely will call them when I need to replace mine.

robert flaked out. i’ve noticed a couple of recent bad reviews,
and it is really a shame, because before alex passed last year,
the company was a-​1. i can’t say it is any longer unless they get their act together.

I called to get a quote for the replacement of my windows and I talked to Maureen who was extremely helpful.
Bob came out to measure and within a couple of weeks my windows were beautifully made and installed. The installers were prompt and my windows were installed in no time. Sean & Kevin did a beautiful job and their work area was spotless when they left.
I love my new windows.

Rob & Maureen are nice, but incapable of replacing windows in San Francisco condos. They don’t know how to navigate DBI permits, energy rules, and HOA appearance requirements. They’re also terrible at communication, unless you take a day off from work to have real-​time phone conversations with them.
If you live in a condo in SF, steer clear of ABC.

I wish I could be writing a review about the quality of their work, or the prices, or their service. Unfortunately, I never got this far. I tried for a couple weeks to set up an appointment. No one EVER answers the phone there, and like a lot of people, I have a job, and can’t answer the phone whenever they call me, so we played phone tag for a LONG time.
I finally did get an appointment for someone to come by my house. Then they called to change it a few days later. There was a little more phone tag about this, but we finally got a new appointment on the schedule.
And then the ultimate disappointment. NO CALL NO SHOW. No one showed up to the house for the appointment, and I never got a call or anything from them. I called later that day and left a message (since no one ever answers), and again today. Same thing, no answer so I left a message. now I’m done with them and moving on.

Disclosure: I *did not* use ABC for window replacements. This review is to reflect my experience with their customer service and to reinforce the high trust/​professionalism already expressed by those who are customers.
I left a message asking for a call-​back to set up a time to have ABC come out and give me a quote for window replacement. I had already had a couple vendors come out so had a pretty good idea of the range of what could/​needed to be done. Got my call back within a reasonable amount of time and appointment set.
Robert came out on the arranged day… and ON TIME (why does nearly every vendor always run late nowadays). His demeanor and courteousness immediately invoked trust (and I’m a tough customer normally). He was kind enough to respect that I had already seen a couple/​few vendors and cut to the chase. After a most interesting and helpful education about window replacements, and how it relates to my needs, he finally suggested the easiest/​least expensive — and most appropriate — option, which was not work that his company specializes in… sadly.
Even though we will not be using ABC to replace our windows in the near future, I can assure you that they will be the first company I call when/​if that time may come. If you’re looking for window replacement, it would be strongly advised to call ABC Window Contractors first! Thanks, Robert.

We had ABC come out and install windows at my mothers home, 2 years ago. It has totally changed her energy bill and she loves the quality of the work. i just ran across the company on Unilocal today and wanted to review them just because there work is top notch and still quality to this day! From beginning to end, having my home windows retrofitted by ABC was a great experience. It is a well run family business and they run their own manufacturing facility. Alex came out to give me a quote and was very knowledgeable about local building codes regarding window retrofits, helpful in explaining options, and thoroughly answered all my questions.
Maureen was a pleasure to talk to on the phone in the office. When I wanted to make some changes and had further questions, she had Alex contact me right away and he sent a revised plan to me by email – very convenient and easy.
Robert came out and did final measuring and was here for the installation, which went very smooth. They had my 9 windows ready in about a week and installed them in only a matter of hours. They were very professional and respectful and did a complete clean up when done. And the windows look really good. We’ve gotten a number of compliments on them.
I was not quite happy about the fit of several of the screens on the windows and when I called Maureen, she did not hesitate to make it right without question. To me, this says a lot about a company. Robert came out to re-​measure and had new ones made and came back to change them out. I was so pleased to be doing business with this family who is passionate and ethical about what they do. They really made this home improvement project easy and smooth for me.
Besides looking good, the windows really insulate well against outside sounds and we’ve even noticed a difference already in insulation against the colder temps we’ve gotten here lately. (I had decided on the low-​E glass)
I highly recommend ABC for your window or door projects. It will be one project that will go smoothly for you!

I too live in the same building as Ira and had the same experience with ABC Window Contractors. The work was done expeditiously, amazing improvement in the windows and patio door (double pane, screens). Pleasant work crew, cleaned up, and replaced window blinds.

ABC is in the process of replacing the windows in the 27 unit building where I live. They were fast, courteous and extremely professional. They cleaned up after themselves and rehung the window coverings that had to be taken down for the replacement windows.

ABC replaced 8 windows for me a few months ago. Alex was professional and prompt and quite charming as well. He gave me a excellent quote and excellent advice on what windows to be using. He also arranged for permits. Maureen on the phone was a plus as well as Mike who installed them.
I was pleased with the whole process. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

These guys are EXCELLENT. They are super knowledgeable and were able to answer questions about some windows I had that were beyond the scope of what they do (glass replacement or skylights). Both Alex and Maureen (estimator and office) were fantastic, as were the guys who came to measure and install. They also take care of the SF permit process, compared to other shops that balk about it or debate whether its necessary. And the installation was super fast and looks fantastic. Top notch business. Would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Alex came to take a look at estimating replacing our windows, which we thought could be contributing to a leak. He was absolutely knowledgeable and experienced and made us think through other options that could be contributing to the leak vs. the windows. Pretty quickly he determined that they would not be quoting this job but still spent almost an hour talking through potential solutions to our problem and advising us to wait to complete some other checks before replacing the windows and to only do it all at once for efficiency and to save money. He was genuine and was obviously not driven by making money. If this is the way he treats a project he’s not going to be getting and working on, I can only imagine what it’d be like to work with him on a paying project.

They are professional and fast. Our windows were replaced an year ago by the crew and the job was done efficiently and on budget. We couldn’t be more pleased. They took care of the permit with the city so the process was seamless.

We had 4 windows at the back of the house that had drafty ugly aluminum windows replaced 5 months ago,(in the City), and used ABC Windows. It was one smooth operation from get go, from coming to give us estimate, contract, scheduling, and installation. The windows are excellent. The installation was smooth and clean up was perfect. These guys also procured the permit from the city, made my life easier! They came in with the best pricing. We are extremely happy with the product and service. Will use them in future and will recommend to all my friends, enthusiastically!

Recently we had our old windows replaced with energy effecient windows. Our neighbor had recommended ABC Windows. We are glad he did. From start to finish we very satisifed with the professionalism and workmanship in installing the windows by ABC Window Contractors.
The work was done precisely on schedule and actually the workers were finished in less time than I thought it would take. It was also less disruptive than I expected it to be.

We found ABC Windows through Unilocal.I must say they live up to their perfect score. We needed three windows replaced. We had old drafty sliding windows in our son’s bedroom and a couple of bathrooms and needed an upgrade.
ABC Windows came promptly to take measurement and give a us quote. Windows are not cheap but for high quality windows, it was lower than what we could get from most general contractors. Windows were installed a few weeks after we confirmed our order. They came on time, installed our three windows in 90 min. Very professional. All good. Windows look great. Passed inspection without problem.

We had an appointment with Alex Koustas. He was punctual and very professional. After looking at our window, he determined installing a new window would not help the situation. He was very honest in explaining why and suggested other more cost efficient alternatives.
Honesty is critical in my book and these guys are to a fault.

This is a real, old-​fashioned, high quality, service conscious family-​owned business. They are incredibly knowledgeable, professional, friendly and honest, and stand behind their work. We have had some small water issues around our windows (installed over 10 years ago), and they have come out to see if there is anything they can do to help remedy the situation under warranty. So far it’s not absolutely clear what is causing the problem, but they are taking every step possible to do what they can. They have even pulled a few windows out and reinstalled them to see if there were problems with the frames, and so far not.
Before we found the old paperwork showing who built and installed the windows years ago, we had called in a number of window folks who said the ABC windows themselves were high quality and should last a long long time, but couldn’t really provide suggestions short of pulling the windows. ABC seems more knowledgeable about what sources of water issues and solutions/​prevention than any of the others we called.
I can’t recommend them highly enough. If you want quality and service, this is the place to call.
