I stop by every now and then. Not the best Sushi I had but it’s great that’s for sure. Pitchers are cheap, food ain’t pricey at all, especially on happy hour. Their 3 sauce & crunch roll are my favorite, I recommend you try them. The foothill roll as well. I haven’t had a problem but I have heard from friends/family that their customer service needs a improvement.

No thrills sushi at this establishment. Serving sizes are on the larger side. SERVICE unfortunately, is TERRIBLYSLOW at all times when dining in, taking out, and even when calling in ahead of time for a pickup order. I know this because I’ve been here several times without having checked-in on Unilocal. If you don’t mind a long wait and average sushi this is your place.

Attend a week ago, but the service was terrible. The waitress wasn’t attentive let alone forgot to place our second order. Then after 30 minutes of not receiving our order we checked up and then was told that she had made an error on our order so they had to remake it. As you can assume we cancelled that order and left. Sushi was decent, but can be greatly improved.

Horrible service. Had to keep reminding the staff about our order. I’ll give them two stars because their spring rolls were good.

What happened to the service !!! I walked in and to seat myself. Then I had to look around for a waiter and there were of course 4 standing around talking to each other. My sushi came pretty fast but the freshness wasn’t what it used to be. Then I had to order something to go for my sister and it took FOREVER. My server basically forgot to give it to me after waiting 30 minutes. I’m not sure what’s happened these past few months but they should go back to how it was before.

Not sure what happened to this place over the years. The service has really gone down hill. Nevertheless there is still one item that would recommend to anyone who loves the real sushi experience; the Tata salad. This is like a heavenly seafood experience in your mouth. The fish is perfectly marinated the lemon, ginger and soy sauces such that it all but melts in your mouth. For you health nuts and protein freaks this is the ultimate protein food for you. Give it a shot!

My sister and I have been coming here for years. Pro: They have an amazing happy hour deal, BOGO from 3 – 6 on weekdays Con: Service is hit or miss. The sushi chefs are always great, but the waitresses sometimes are not very attentive. The last time I was there, I almost walked out because we seated ourselves and then waited for a menu for almost ten minutes. Then I finally walked over and grabbed our own menus and still had to waive down a waitress. It was not a busy night and there’s no excuse to walk by a table, not acknowledge patrons and have to be waived down to order. This has happened on more than one occasion, so I have to stick to the belief that service is hit or miss. But the sushi chefs are always very attentive and friendly if you choose to sit at the bar. That would be my suggestion as they are always chatty and serve as good lunch time entertainment. Pro: Music/ambiance can be great at times. Perfect for catching up with a friend or a really casual lunch time date, or dinner date($ 1 shooters to loosen things up). Con: Ramen is not a good bet here. Tried it twice and the noodles were just mush, overcooked salty, and killed dead nuked hardboiled egg. I would say stick to their speciality rolls. I know this isn’t a place known for ramen, but it’s on the menu and a restaurant has to stand behind its menu. This item fails to deliver. Overall, would drop by for happy hour if I really had a sushi craving and didn’t want to go far. The convenience of having this place nearby really helps the rating but there is better sushi out there.

Kind of disappointed. Had their sushi multiple times but never really went in to sit. And wow I was really surprised how horrible the service was. The waiter took so long. She gave us our food before our plates. Gave us dirty spoons. And btw they charge for a side of eal sauce. The waiter was spacey. She messed up our orders and was overall just slow. As a waitress you’re suppose to be on the move. We had two waiters the were helping and one of them was clearly too Busy to help Bc she was busy chitchattimg with her boyfriend. Little did I know they add the tip in the total so no wonder why they don’t care to give good service. The tempera ice cream… Was good but literally had the babbiest scoop. It was all tempura. So disappointed

I just love this place. Seriously. We get treated so well here. The miches are great, the cherry bombs creep up.

Seriously expected more from this place based on what others made it seem. The sushi was eatable but nothing to say wow we have to come back. The sushi was very plain. Came here once and gave it another chance but same. Waitress and chefs were nice and welcoming but food wasn’t all that. Even if you want a simple sushi fix I don’t think it’s worth based on my experience I rather drive a distance to get good sushi

Service was just O. K, sushi was average at best. Prices were fair, both soy sauces on table were beyond salty that made them unusable and ponzu was plain. Not going back unless I have too

Come here only for their 3 sauces roll at happy hour. Other than that, their sushi is definitely not worth the prices. Not sure what the guys name is that seems to be in charge, but he is RUDE and seems annoyed and pissed off all the time. I went in on a weekday and requested a table for 8 since my family who lives like two lights away were in their way, half the place was empty, and the guys made it an issue because half my party wasn’t there… There were 3 of us… but he seemed to be bothered at the fact that he had to bring the chairs down from the tables. The next time I was craving sushi, I decided to call and place an order for pick up, but since I was right up the street, I decided why not just go in and eat there incase I wanted to order more. So I got there and let the waitress know I had called and ordered to go, but would like to stay and eat there… She let that same guy know that we were going to stay, and he had a pissed look on his face, shook his head, said something and just threw the rest of the roll on the to-go plate… Instead of seeing it as «oh cool, more service» he was pissed because he already plated one of the rolls on a to-go plate and now we just inconvenienced him… So I decided to leave and never return…

Came in here while serving jury duty at San Fernando Courthouse. It’s within walking distance, maybe a few blocks away. It’s a small place, small parking lot, kinda hard to find, but reachable if you’re looking for it. The moment I walked in, there was a strong fishy smell inside that was a turnoff. I don’t care if its a sushi restaurant, I don’t want to smell that. The friendliness of the waitress left something to be desired from the jump, but she warmed up throughout the meal. While I was perusing the menu, I noticed it said there was a $ 2 charge per split check. We weren’t doing that today, but if we were I would’ve gone somewhere else. Why the heck would there be a charge for that? Is it a convenience charge? Is it incovenient to push a few extra buttons? It’s not challenging to do for the cash machine, and if it is, the restaurant needs to upgrade to a new invention called«computers.» This was really annoying to me. It’s clearly not the money, but what the heck?! Other than that, I really liked the menu. This is the only thing that kinda saved the experience for me. They had some creative, different sushi dishes with some cool law enforcement, courthouse themed names. The sushi was good and I was surprised. The fact that there was some unique rolls made it cool. Otherwise, I was leaning towards 1 – 2 stars.

This place sucks soooo bad I felt bad for myself for evening going there afterwards. I recently went to there happy hour which is 3−6pm. I was pretty happy on there prices. Soon as the food arrived i literally looked at my waitress and gave her a look of confusion? My roll looked as if a child had done it. And no that’s not it! My roll tasted as if it’s been on display for a week. It was so chewy and rubbery I felt nasty after. For the price you pay for its basically«you pay for what you get» I was thinking maybe it was a bad day for them, so I came back again a week later. You won’t believe me but I swear to any God the roll tasted the same as the last time. This time it actually looked better, guess chef boyardee learned how to roll better now. Asked for spicy mayo waaaaay to many times to the waitress and mostly got ignored. Came back again for a friends birthday and missed happy hour by a couple of mins and you won’t believe me. The food actually tasted really good! Something tells me that on happy hour all the rolls they practice on in the Mornings or get returned go straight to the happy hour menu. Which is freaking gross bro. Moral of the story, don’t go during happy hour.

Nice little Sushi restaurant in San Fernando! I didn’t expect for the city to have a sushi restaurant in the first place, so finding out about Courthouse made me curious to try it. I was craving poke that day, so I asked them if they had any. While they unfortunately do not serve it, I found that they have something called a Margarita Salad, which I believe is a mix of salmon, tuna and yellow tail sashimi(not sure about that last fish) with greens and ponzu sauce. It was definitely just what I needed to satisfy my raw fish cravings! I definitely recommend Courthouse sushi if you ever decide you want Japanese food in the Sylmar/Pacoima/San Fernando area.

Was in the area last Saturday looking for sushi and decided to try this place out, big mistake! Tried three different rolls to begin with, salmon, tempura and California. The salmon roll was way too hard to chew the pieces were cut so thick and the rice tasted like it had been refrigerated right after being cooked. I’m used to having some fresh cucumber and avocado in the mix but this salmon roll had none of that. The California roll was not to my taste either, instead of having the surimi mixed, it was cut into big pieces(I saw the pictures on Unilocal before hand and the California roll looked nothing like that in person) the only thing that was ok was the tempura roll … I felt the sushi wasn’t made with any effort ! The ingredients were anything but fresh. Will definitely not come back here !

The teriyaki chicken bowl was cold, the chicken tasted boiled, and the teriyaki sauce had poor flavor. The blackened chicken was so salty it was inedible and the accompanying salad was sopping with dressing.

I was nervous about visiting a sushi restaurant in Sylmar. I live in Sylmar. I know there are really good places to get tacos, sopes, nachos, and other south-of-the-border specialties. I didn’t think a Sylmar sushi restaurant would be able to provide the kind of quality rolls I’ve experienced in other parts of L.A. I was mostly right. The wait staff was friendly, and the speed of service was good. I wish I could remember the names of all the rolls we tried. All the rolls we tried were average at best. There was one in particular that the server told me is one of their most popular/most favorite amongst the customers… I just can’t remember the name of it… but it was good. So if the server recommends the favorite roll to you, trust me it’s good, but not worth driving across town to experience. I’m pretty sure they didn’t have a Spider Roll(or it’s equivalent). That was a slight bummer for me. Overall, not memorable by any means. Just average. Parking– Street or lot. There seemed to be plenty of parking available. The lot is shared with a couple other small shops, but I think they were already closed when we went to Courthouse Sushi.
