After almost a year of trying on our own, I started seeing Julie for a weekly session. After three months of acupuncture, I was thrilled to find out that I was (finally) pregnant! I was nervous to try acupuncture at first (needles all over my body? who wouldn’t be!) but Julie is wonderful — I felt totally comfortable and relaxed at every appointment. I would highly recommend Zen Fertility!!!

Heidi — it seems funny not see you every week. You are an amazing person and I feel so fortunate to have you and Julie in my life.
My baby boy was born on 7⁄26. He was 7 lb 11 oz and 21 inches.

I’ve used Chang for two infertility cycles. The first one was associated with an IVF, which failed. The second one (which was successful), I had two months to prepare for by doing acupuncture and other recommendations made by Chang.
Acupuncture may not be the panacea people hope it will be when it comes to fertility, but it certainly made a difference for me. I’ve seen both Heidi and Eric. Although they both have different styles, both have been effective in keeping my pregnancy comfortable and virtually symptom free! I read the other review about Heidi and although her manner may not be ooey, gooey sweet, she is professional and takes her job seriously. Acupuncturists should not be evaluated for their family therapy support skills, in my humble opinion.
I’ve had a sinus infection that has been treated by both Eric and Heidi and in both cases, the infection promptly drained after my session. I would trust both of them for my, my family’s and friends’ needs, for fertility and otherwise.
Update on 7÷12÷10. I have since found a fertility acupuncturist that is closer to home and better priced, which warranted my change from 5 to 4 stars. When I look back on Chang and compare the two, I am surprised that none of Chang’s practitioners ever looked at my tongue and rarely, if ever, checked my pulse, which I’m seeing is a common practice among acupuncturists. Since I have found a different acupuncturist, my uncomfortable pregnancy symptoms have improved even more. I still would recommend Chang, but I’m much happier at my new place.

I saw numerous studies that showed that accupuncture had been used successfully with IVF to combat infertility, so I decided to give it a shot. I’ve had a very positive experience with Heidi at Chang Acupuncture and have been really impressed with how she customizes each weekly appointment based on what’s going on in my life. I started seeing her in March, underwent IVF in April, and became pregnant on the first attempt. I continued to get treatments from Heidi during the first trimester of my pregnancy to help prevent miscarriage and later to help with development and delivery preparation and welcomed a healthy little girl into the world in December. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, professional, dedicated and personable acupuncturist, I highly recommend Heidi’s services.

My wife and I (mostly my wife) have been going to Chang’s acupuncture for the past 5 months, in hopes that it would help us get pregnant. Our Acupuncturist, Heidi, was very professional, but we thought lacking in empathy.
Maybe it’s the frustration of us not getting pregnant, but we felt that they were very inflexible with some things and we eventually had to end treatment after being unsuccessful in our efforts to get pregnant after 5 months.
They tell you how successful their treatments are, but when you ask for a percentage of success rate they have no clue. At a hefty $ 85 a session (4 for $ 320) it is not cheap. I’m curious how many more treatments they would have «recommend» before telling us that acupuncture may not be for us (because I know it does work for others), or would they just continue cashing our $ 400-​$ 500/​month.
FYI, if your looking for Ms. Chang to be your acupuncturist, she no longer practices, she just has her name behind the company name but does mainly clerical functions). She was however nice and friendly on our phone and e-​mail contacts.

Let me shout it from the rooftop — «Chang Acupuncture rocks!» I was so skeptical about acupuncture and let Julie and Eric know this from the start. I came to them after three years of unsuccessful infertility treatments and along with exisiting medical conditions (thyroid disorder along with PolyCystic Ovaries). I didn’t believe that acupuncture could help with the process so I told Julie and Eric that I would try acupuncture just to rid my body of all the hormones from the infertility treatments. After four months of treatments, I was pregnant. I not only felt better, I delivered a beautiful baby girl and I’m now a big fan of Chang Acupuncture. You’ll feel amazing after just one session! Thank you Chang Acupuncture!

I really like this place. They really make you feel at ease especially if you are new to acupuncture. Scheduling and billing are a breeze. I’ve been coming here over a year and have really seen the results. My allergies are much improved and probably my over all general health is too. Besides, in the grand scheme of things taking a hour off every couple of weeks to relax couldn’t hurt anyone. I would recommend this place to anyone who is interested or even curious about acupuncture.

A few years ago, I got into a car accident where my car was totalled. Luckily I got away with aches, paines and bruises. I wasn’t a true believer in alternative medicine and Dr. Chang treated me. Her technique was painless and helped alleviate a lot of the soreness I felt.

A couple of years ago, I tore my medial collateral ligament in my knee looking to maximize my healing results. With two 30-​minute treatments a week for 6 weeks, I healed twice as quick as my orthaepedic had expected. I pleasantly surprised him when I was able to pass his tests with flying colors 3 weeks before he had anticipated. I thank Julie and her expert care.
Now, I seek her treatment for any athletic injuries without a second thought. A half an hour now may save me a lifetime of problems in the future.

Julie is the owner of Chang Acupuncture and is also my friend. But this review is not written with any bias, because her practice is truly one of a kind. She specializes mostly with infertility patients, but I came to her for back pains caused by a bad rear-​end accident. Although it took a few months of twice-​a-​week visits, my neck and back pain completely went away with the help of both Julie and Eric, her business partner. They are both extremely friendly and caring, and are great at what they do. The clinic is nice, and the patient rooms are all equipped with massage tables and stereos to play music while you rest. They also have a medicine closet, filled with Chinese herbs in pill form. As a kid, I hated the smell of Chinese medicine and I always gagged whenever I had to drink it, so Chinese medicine in pills is the best thing ever!
I have heard stories from Julie how she has become the miracle worker for many of her patients, who were not able to conceive children on their own. With persistence and determination, many of her patients (male and female alike) went to her for acupuncture treatment, and were given the best gift of all: a child. Aside from fertility, Julie and Eric treat all sorts of ailments and conditions. They were also voted best acupuncture clinic in San Diego!
