Welcome Inn

Really cheap for the location (65 $ per night for a 1 queen bed room) and it was clean and the owner is a really nice guy and just wants to offer somewhere to stay for an affordable price. Definitely would return.

Not a top notch place but you can see that they’re doing the best they can with what they have. Decent prices and sunny is a friendly understanding guy who only wants to help.

This is the kind of disgusting filth that goes on at this hotel. This is what you will be where you sleep next to. This horrible garbage insects clothing god awful things are only feet away from your bed. Rodents nasty suitcases from crack head people who live at this hotel, this was taken today February 14^th, 2015 and this junk has been sitting here for over a month. Just look through the fence next to the office and you’ll get a a full view of the way this dump is run. More photo’s to come.

The rooms here are clean and nicely decorated. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. It’s very affordable and in a great location. I’ve read through the bad reviews and have never had experiences like those here. I stay here when ever I’m in town and would highly recommend it.

Stayed here with my girlfriend back in July while visiting from San Francisco. The price was very affordable and the room was satisfactorily clean. Had no problems with the owner who was nice and welcoming. Actually flying into San Diego tomorrow Dec 18^th. and will be staying here again. No complaints at all.

The owner actually swore at me and took a swing at me for loosing the back off the TV remote. He demanded cash payment for a week stay. I can give you three or four recommendations for extended stay places (that are actually clean and not full of crack heads) in the vicinity that are the same price range. I was staying there for two weeks while I was looking for an apartment — this is not an extended stay… its essentially a step up from a homeless shelter.

UGGGGHHHH I should have read the reviews before I stayed here. I normally do, but I’ve never really had an issue at any hotel I’ve stayed at, and I’ve paid like $ 35 a night at some place in Chula Vista that was a million times better than this. I only got this room because my boyfriend and I went to a friend’s graduation party down the street, and I didn’t want either of us to worry about driving home after drinking. So I figured. $ 65? Better than a $ 10,000 DUI. So we checked in, and we walked in and the floors are tile. Ok. I’ve never seen a hotel room with tile floors except in Mexico. The bathroom has a window with no screen. so people could just slide it open and climb in. There is some weird room in the corner of the hotel room with a cot looking thing that looks like some crazy sex slave dungeon where people get killed. As soon as we walked in the room, there was a HUGE roach on the bathroom floor basically begging to be flushed down the toilet to escape that nasty hell hole. That should have been a forewarning, but I figured ok. its just a bug. we’re only staying one night, it’s a cheap room. sleep on top of the covers on a towel or go get a blanket. I already knew I wouldn’t be getting my money back anyways because of the lame that checked us in. So my boyfriend and I went to the party, came back late at night, and noticed there were beg bugs on the bed and the chair! DISGUSTING. We went to the front desk. where another lame was. and asked for another room. So we changed rooms. walked in. and a roach ran under the bed. That was it. We ended up leaving at 2 in the morning, after raising hell and being told no refunds. and went back to my house in Bonita. I CAN NOT and WILL NOT sleep with bed bugs. I mean honestly. what normal person thinks that’s ok? Seriously. I don’t even care if I don’t get my money back. But will I be contacting BBB and Board of Health? Absolutely.

If I could give less than a star I would! Gross, gross gross! I had to go home i could not spend the night in that place. I feel like the owners don’t care about the cleanliness, hospitality or reputation. They were too cavalier about us not having a clean roon when we checked in but when we were leaving because of the room conditions they had to keep our money cause it still had to be «cleaned», and from other reviews they seem to throw around the «law» around to keep your money, which is what they did to me. I didn’t care I was out of 100 bucks (during pride) but I was also going to sleep in my own bed. .what a waste of money. JUST STAY AWAY, unless you don’t mind being in VACANCY 3. Everything was so dirty DONT TOUCH ANYTHING! Unless you don’t mind getting preggers from an unknown source, chair, tiolet seat or bed sheets then go right ahead.

DO NOT come here unless it under new management! I stayed here for a month and my lodging experience was terrorizing. March of 2013 I had made a great review because I stayed here for a weekend and my stay was positive. Now it is under new management and the hotel has turned for the worse. The rooms are not the cleanest. I had to ask the maid to re-​clean and room that have been already cleaned and was ready to rent because I saw strayed hairs between the bedding sheets and and towels. The walls of the room are white so all the disgusting filth is noticeable. In order to sleep in there I asked the maid to literally bleach everything. Their furniture such as their chairs are broken, old, and just look plain dirty. The tenants are appeared the unemployed, drug addicts. It seems as if not one functional person was lodging there. There was constantly people hanging around late in the night and fighting. They have a «security guard,» but he doesn’t secure anything and isn’t around when people are fighting in the middle of the night. This place charged $ 50 a night for a weekly stay, but I do not recommend anyone to stay here.

Where’s the no star option?!?
this place is disgusting! I’ve lived up the street from this dump for years, but never had the pleasure of staying here. until last night. I could type all day and wouldnt be finished with the negative things I have to say, so here it is, short and sweet:

cant sleep on the bed or shower in the weird stall in the bathroom.

$ 60 plus a KEY deposit? These people are crazy. I wouldve been more comfortable and felt cleaner and safer sleeping on a park bench. Seriously.

This place is beyond bogus the beds have bugs there are loud people arguing outside at 3am, the house keeper is a joke, and Kamat the manager a very grumpy little man blames the guest for bringing Bedbugs into the hotel… wow what a joke I showed him proof in his face and he denied that it was a bed bug he said it was something else… lol really dude! Dont worry I will be filing a complaint with all the right sources maybe lawsuit. …maybe not… lets see how I feel after the weekend

Business trip, handsome?
We’ve all had those.
And by those, I mean hookups.
No, sorry Mr. Moneybags, you have to buy an entire night. None of that «my secretary and I only need two hours» noise here. Luckily for you and your wallet, it’s only $ 75 a night while most of the better downtown hotels (and yes, nearly every hotel is better) cost $ 150.
The carpets are old and stained, but they’ve been vacuumed; some of the furniture pieces are clearly fugitives of Goodwill or an abandoned Sears, but you can still film quite a classy pornflick here.
Word to the wise – sleep on towels and don’t trust the sheets.
The toilet tank will hum all night because the stopper is busted, your 99 cents store shower curtain rod WILL collapse on under its own weight when wet (like some girls), and there will be a thirteen inch TV mounted on a wall frame designed for one that measures fifty-​two.
All these negatives are seesawed by the fat kid named «What Do You Want for $ 75 in Downtown San Diego?» sitting on the other end of the teeter totter.
You will be given an old-​fashioned brass key and not one of those new electronic credit card types. And, your door will not have a deadbolt; only a push-​putton lock of the type you see in a Manhattan apartment bathroom, where you and a spoiled White girl from NYU dry hump in the shower because some other a$sholes at the party already called the bedroom.
So I guess what I’m saying is, if you’re carrying a lot of cash or stolen Nazi gold at Welcome Inn, don’t count on your doorlock for protection. And also, the girl from NYU already has a boyfriend and yes, she’s slumming with you and loving it.
Welcome Inn is what it is (now THERE’S a cliché): cheap and easy (there’s another for free, honey).
Don’t be surprised if some of your neighbors are trash; birds of a feather, senator.
Don’t give them your real credit card. Get a prepaid VISA at the 7 – 11 across the street so that only you and what’s her name know you were ever here.

I stayed on the night of 7÷26÷13 from about 10:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. the next morning, feeling so tired after a night of driving around town trying to find a place to stay.
The management seemed nice and showed me how they’re in the process of upgrading this shabby old dump, but unfortunately at 4:30 a.m. I woke up feeling itchy, and found a large and disgusting bed bug crawling around in the bed. Fortunately I had all the lights on at the time and found it right away.
After screaming my head off I scoured the interwebs searching for the identity of this round flat reddish-​brown bug and took several pictures of it. I even put it in a clear plastic bag to show to the management, but despite this proof they wouldn’t give me a refund or even offer a discount after my night of horror.
Even though I was super tired I had to wait for a couple more hours before finding an open laundromat where I washed every piece of clothing I took with me and the bag they came in, but I still feel dirty days later.
Edit 9÷13÷13:
I disputed the credit card charge and they didn’t fight it. So they have SOME integrity.

I have stayed here once before July of 2012. The hotel is basics but clean and comfortable. What I have to say is that the customer service is excellent and they are good people. It is like you are dealing with family. If your looking for five star go downtown, if you like going to a place where you are welcomed as as a friend or acquaintance and honest people stay here. The rates are great the rooms are clean and your close to everything.

It’s cheap.
They gave us a room who wasn’t clean and had the smell of someone else so I asked for another room. We had à bigger one.
There are dodgy persons who look like drug dealers around but they stayed away from us and dont’ bother you if you’re not interested.
So if you’re not afraid by weirdoes and you have à good sens of humour, you can stay here.
The new owner is a biker, he’s cool and he does his best but … maybe it’s not enought.
We will never go back in that place.

Horrible place that steals your stuff and cons the guest. I paid to stay for a week and after 2 days they kicked me out because I had a friend go thru a low window with no screen that was big because. The key was locked in the room. I felt like it was a set up to keep the rest of the money for the 5 days I paid for and didnt get to use. I had to sleep in my car that night. I hate this place! Please don’t stay here.

I have lived near this crack house for over 6 years now. I dont wish my worst enemy to stay here. Drug deals, several 911 calls, bad tenants, even worse staff. I even watched someone jump from the second story window and run around like a headless chicken on a bad trip. If this place would simply make it a rule to leave a credit card as a deposit, LIKE A NORMAL HOTEL then there might be some hope.
If gordon ramsey could clean this place up like he does kitchens I would be a happy neighbor.

Never wanna go back.

Place looks shady & questionable even as we drove up to it. Front service is ok, just make sure to call to confirm your reservation, which is what we did before we arrived. Receptionist is nice but the stay itself is scary. We stayed only one nite (thank goodness) & this is what happened:
— Seems that there are «tenants» that actually live at the motel.
— Groups of ppl hang out in the parking lot and talk all nite (like 11pm — 6 am). «Neighbors» talk all nite too. It’s really hard to sleep.
— Motel is on the main street so you hear ALL traffic that comes by, all nite long.
— Walls are paper, you hear EVERYTHING, even ppl next door talking normally, showers, toilets…
— Room had a musty/​cigarette smell.
— Had a piece of ABC gum stuck to the headboard… eww?
— Bathroom is small & shower stalls could be cleaned more. (I seriously considered showering w/​flip flops on)
If you do stay there, things that I would recommend:
— Do not leave ANYTHING in the room if you are not there. Even going out to eat.
— Do not walk barefoot in the room, the carpet is questionable.
— Don’t leave anything on the ground, not even luggage.
— Bring your own soap, shampoo, hairdryer, etc… nothing is provided except a sliver of bar soap & toilet paper.
Ok things:
— 1 nite at a cheap place
— Warm shower
— Decently cleaned sheets
I personally would pay a little more to stay at a safer, more comfortable location.

This is the worst place I’ve ever been to. Absolutely a shit show…
My friends and I needed a place to crash after a last minute trip to San Diego and we happen to come across this place (I look back and I should’ve used Unilocal to see if there were any comments about this place). At first everyting seemed to be going smoothly until we got into the room. I think the best thing to do here is to list all the issues that we encountered:
1. The staff late at night is no good, i know it’s late, but a lil friendly customer service is always appreciated, especially if im bringing you bussiness with 4 people.
2. As soon as we openned the door, there was this unknown odor in the room. I dont even want to try to classify the scent, let’s just say it was a little unbearable.
3. The air conditioner/​heater unit was a little outdated and perhaps the smell was coming from it.
4. There was an empty beer can in the garbage… need I say more.
5. No soap in the bathroom.
6. Strange people walking around outside… we even heard some guy yelling out «Josh, come back. Josh, where are you? Come back…»
7. Strange noises from the room next door (my friends and i believe they were having sex, very loud, uninhibited sex; no problem with me)
8. Staff in the morning were loud and unconsiderate… and i mean yelling from the outside
9. Dirty old socks on the floor and under the bed
10. a thick layer of dust on the head boards
i think that is pretty much all the negative things we experienced. if things like this unphase you, then please be my guest and spent the night at the (Un)Welcome Inn

My father came into town to visit and I thought «What about the Welcome Inn?». It’s literally a couple of blocks from our apartment. I called and asked how much for 5 days starting on the 4^th of July. I was told $ 60 a night and that should have been a red flag.
I had my father call from Florida and he was quoted the same price before he made a reservation. He flew in, we attended a lovely 4^th of July BBQ, and headed over to check him in for the week.
Upon arrival we were told by the front desk person that he «didn’t care what we were told on the phone». He said my father would have to either pay in cash (WTF?) or there would be an additional 12% added to his card. Please keep in mind it wasn’t the money but the way we were treated. Call me silly but I prefer to give money to people who aren’t mean to me.
When my father exited the small locked ‘office’ to talk about the situation I made the mistake of saying «Wow, this is poor customer service». The desk person took it upon himself to open the door and inform me that it was not poor service but, instead, the law.
Long story short, we went down El Cajon Blvd. to the Lafayette and, while we spent a little more, they were very nice to us. They also said there is no such law.
I would rather sleep on the street than spend a night at the Welcome Inn.
