Vons Gas Station

PB is definitely more expensive for gas than other areas. The only time I get gas here is when I have gas rewards. You can use up to $ 1 off per gallon up to 25 gallons if you earn the rewards. This can add up to some great savings. The lines here aren’t too bad, way shorter than costco.

the gas here is the same or a bit cheaper than the norm so we love it. We are close by and do our grocery shopping here as well so we even get discounts on the gas sometimes. The only downside is the people who don’t know how to wait in line and cut in front of everybody. Can’t fault Vons for idiots tho… :)

My friend who lives in PB got gas here. When we came it was pretty mellow as compared to the Escondido location, but then again we came here in the later part of the night. Cheap gas all around, just remember to pay with cash or debit to get the deal.

This is a great place to get gas in Pacific Beach. Although if you go during 5 o’clock time frame there are very large lines and a long wait usually. Don’t forget to enter your rewards number to save on gas.
This is my go-​to spot for a long time.

What’s not to love here? You rack up all those points swiping your vons card and don’t even realize that it can be applied to filling up at their gas station! Great prices and always clean. You really can’t beat it in San Diego, besides Costco. I love that you can apply your rewards to this and I am lucky to have one right up the street from my house. If you shop at Vons and you buy gas you should come here!

The best part of this gas station is the location, which is right off Garnet Ave. in central Pacific Beach. It’s adjacent to the Vons supermarket, and it also has a quick mart for convenience items.
The per gallon price is comparable to other gas stations, so it’s not a make or break on price. There are usually enough pumps during busy fueling hours to keep the line moving, and the facility is usually clean.
This is where I tend to fuel up.

Located in PB, this gas station was very clean. The price was just right.

Bought gas today at around 4:45 and the blonde girl working there was extremely rude for no apparent reason. Usually just buy gas and leave, but the pump wasn’t taking my phone number for rewards or my credit card. I went inside and immediately the girl was unnecessarily impolite. This employee really needs to check her attitude at the door when she goes to work. When a customer asks a simple question about the rewards program, the answer it shouldn’t come with a side of «bitchy». Note to the manager, you need to hire attendants who understand the value of customer service. Regardless of the establishment, customer service should never fall to the wayside.

Awesome prices if you are a Vons member. The lines get a little long but it is definitely worth waiting to pay up to $ 1 less on gas. The little store is convenient too if you need a quick snack or a beverage.

When it comes to gas stations, the only thing that should be decreasing is price! Sadly, that is not the case for this gas station, which has slowly been decreasing in quality.
Now, there is a 10-​cent additional fee for using credit cards :(That used to be my favorite part of this gas station — the best prices AND convenient if you don’t want to carry around a ton of cash, or if it’s late at night and they’re closed but you could still use your credit card.
And no more rewards for Vons club members. I mean, you can still type in your phone number or swipe your card, but where does it go? The days of 3 cents off for being a Vons member are long gone.
Sadly, I think it’s time to find a new local gas station…

I’m a giant fan of the Vons gas station. I don’t live in the area but come fill up my tank here every other week when I drive through the area. I shop at Vons and collect my gas reward points and it is so worth it!
At any given time, I get 10cents up to $ 1 off each gallon of gas! Just for doing my normal shopping! I know this sounds like a commercial for Vons but holy moly who else does this, it’s so great!

Nice and incredibly cheap, especially after you see the prices at the Chevron on the opposite corner.
Hit up the place when it’s not busy — the wait can be long (why, I don’t know) and it’s one way (some people still go in from the opposite direction be it out of ignorance, stupidity, or impatience — holds up the wait even longer). Don’t be one of those, lol.
The taxis also have a tendency to post up shop in the parking lot adjacent to the gas station, watch out for hurried and disorderly cab drivers on your way out.

Still love it but its not close to me anymore unfortunately.
However I was in PB and needed gas so I came here to take advantage of good gas price.
And there was no line because it’s late.

The Vons gas station no longer offers the 3 cent discount if you’re a Vons club member. You can still get a discount if you shop at Vons, so I would recommend checking your grocery receipts to see when you have accumulated enough of a discount to make it worth while to go to this station. The lines haven’t been that bad when I have filled up and are much better than Costco lines. I go here when I’m nearby and need to fill up; otherwise I head to Costco.

Yes the station is always packed. What do you expect when there is cheap gas involved and all you need is a club card that has no cost.
come here when you are not in a rush, or plan on it taking some time.
all of the cons I have come from other customers and don’t reflect the business at all. Be prepared if some people feel like it is okay to cut you off, or try to enter the pumps from the wrong side to try to get ahead of people.

I’ve been spending rap star skrillah on gas lately so it’s nice that they not only have the best prices around, but also allow you to save additionally with a club card.
That being said… Every hot headed Bostonian transplant in PB goes here to fill up so be forewarned. It’s more than likely gonna be crowded, and if the Pats, C’s, or Sox have just lost you might have yourself a whole new can of worms.

This gas station is right by my house so I prefer to get my gas here.
Basics:
— 3 cent discount with Von’s club card
— squeegees & paper towels to clean your window
— really clean and nice inside
— gas attendent even wears nice clothes
Con:
— can get really packed, especially since its a one way direction
Tips:
— most cars have their gas cap on the drivers side (including me). The hose reaches around to the othe side if you park close enough to the gas pump. I always do that when it’s busy. The lines are shorter for the passenger side gas cap.
— go early in the morning before work to get in and out fast
— the more you spend at Von’s in groceries the higher the discount at the pump.
I once spent $ 150 at Von’s, and got a 50 cent discount per gallon. That was $ 3.03/ gal. That made my week! :)

The cheapest gas around the beach areas is often found in Pacific Beach. Don’t ask me why but it seems several stations within a certain radius of Garnet and Grand Avenues try and compete with each other for lowest price. This is always an automatic plus for us poor folks or plain cheapskates.
So it is with great pleasure that I drive over to Pacific Beach and grab a free Starbucks coffee with my customer service survey at that Von’s grocery store that doubles as a good pick-​up spot in P.B. Right across the street is the Von’s Gas Station that also matches the cheap gas prices of the other nearby stations and then takes an additional .03 cents off, if you swipe your Von’s card!
Also in the summer, if you are coming to Pacific Beach from points east, as you travel down Garnet, the Von’s Gas Station is the perfect quick stop to pull in for some chips, dip, beer, or soda. It is mucho convenient and you don’t have to worry about gross guys staring at you if you are wearing your bathing suit. To me this is a prime concern. Therefore, 4 stars for this gas station-​if they would keep more of their pumps on line, I would jack it up to 5 stars for sure!

I’m taking away 1 star because, Vons, what’s up with several of the pumps being out of order during the last month or so?
Getting gasoline at this location is generally quick and efficient, and I’ve always had extra-​nice service when I go inside to pay with cash. Gas prices at these pumps are among the lowest prices in PB.
During super-​busy times the parking lot area where cars are backed up can be treacherous, so heads up and drive slowly.
