Vickii Gervais, LM LAc

Vickii is truly a master of her trades, midwifery and acupuncture! I feel very fortunate that I was able to have my second child with her. She is extremely knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, proactive and provides a level of care as though you were her younger sister. I had experience with 2 midwives that I think are the best in San Diego County, I would give Vickii the number one spot, based on her knowledge, attention to detail, proactive approach in pre-​natal, postpartum and natal care, ability to make difficult decisions quickly, confidence and overall calmness. Everyone in her birth team is also very knowledgeable, helpful — especially during labor and as a team, they work extremely well together.
I got to know Vickii while seeing her for acupuncture during my fist pregnancy. She had a vacation planned around the due date of my first child and thus we chose a different midwife. Though she was not my midwife, she helped ensure that I would be prepared for birth by making sure i took a birth class (which i ended up taking a Bradley class thanks to her). I had the vision that natural birth is easy, since it’s been done since the beginning of time, and was very happy I got properly educated, which really helped me stay calm through my first birth, especially it being at home.
To my luck, Vickii was also planning a vacation around the due date of my second child and cancelled her vacation plans to be there for the birth.
Overall, i had a very good pregnancy but ran into some issues through out the pregnancy. Vickii was very easy to access, and always responded quickly. At one point, she had some serious concern and showed up to my house within 30 minutes after I reached out to her in the evening hours (after 9PM).
At the time of birth her and her team were amazing. They arrived at the time that we wanted to see them and the entire team made it here within 30 minutes (and the drive is 30 minutes alone). I was very grumpy during labor, and did not want to experience the pain (and i cannot stand being drugged). I just wanted to get labor over and done with. So scared of the pain, I asked for help in getting through it. Her and her team offered to do exercises to get labor going faster and they held my hand every step of the way. Once my water broke, the contractions got even worse, and I really did not want to move anywhere. Vickii did an amazing job to encourage me to get into the bathtub, which drastically reduced my pain. The entire time i was in heavy labor, her team and my husband were by my side helping me get through it and tolerating all my cursing.
My daughter was born with a lip and tongue tie and Vickii pointed out the issue immediately and provided us information on what that meant and the various options. With that, we were able to get her tongue & lip tie laser cut within 24 hours of her birth. However, our daughter was not gaining weight as a result of breast feeding issues and our pediatrician did not pay much attention to her inability to gain weight… Thankfully Vickii started addressing the weight issue early on before it became a serious problem. Thankfully she really jumped on this issue vs us waiting 10 days as our pediatrician advised.

I had a homebirth with my second child with the help of Vickii and her assistant (at the time, Darynae.) Having had a traumatic birth with my first in the hospital, there were a lot of emotions to work through, but she helped me feel prepared as well as safe in her hands. Vickii was the perfect fit for us. Both professional and warm, she was really good with my older son too, and respectful of my wishes for the birth. Her background in Chinese medicine also came in handy, especially with postpartum care. After the birth I ended up seeing her for acupuncture care for many months and would keep doing so if life circumstances weren’t impeding at the moment.

Vickii is an extremely qualified and talented midwife. She delivered my daughter @ my home birth @ a last minute notice. She was covering for the midwife I hired that couldn’t come. She showed up to my home and my daughter was delivered 2 hours later! I couldn’t have done it without her. She was extremely sweet and supportive. If you are looking for a midwife you should give her a call… you won’t regret it :)

Vickii Gervais is a skilled and talented practitioner. She is an acupuncturist with a background in midwifery and functional medicine! She brings so much knowledge and experience to her care! I completely trust her.

Vickii Gervais was the midwife for my second home birth.
She is warm, kind, and knowledgeable. She has been a home birth midwife for many years so she is comfortable with even the most «alternative» mothers.
I have worked with a few different midwives and Vickii far surpasses them all.
She is also an acupuncturist, how could it get any better?!
