I’ve been coming to trujillos here on college for a very long time and I recommend you try this place out if you have not already. The food is awesome and so is the service. It does get really packed so I suggest you call in your order if you’re in a hurry. I always get the sigma pie which is my favorite or even the mini tacos. Shout out to the owner he always shows mad love when I go. Two thumbs up from!

The right food, the right location, at the right price. This is a perfect pre-game meal before an Aztecs basketball. This is my second visit(I think they moved locations since my first time) and it has a good atmosphere where you order at the counter and then wait for your number to be called. The food is all good and what you would expect in a nice smallish non-chain mexican restaurant(good burritos, quesadillas, tacos). And they have pitchers of beer(can you say Sculpin pitchers). I think this has to become a staple for me as the Aztecs are 2 for 2 in victories after coming here.

Trujillo’s is the college taco shop. I went here all the time when I attended SDSU and it was consistently delicious Mexican food. 99% of the time I will get their Sigma Pi burrito — a fully loaded California burrito WRAPPED in a quesadilla. Yup you read it correctly, the tortilla for California burrito is a quesidilla. It’s perfect. If not I will get the Sigma Chi Crunchwrap which is their version of the Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme and it puts TBell’s to shame. It’s a unique treat. If you want incredible Mexican food and you’re in the college area, you have to check out Trujillos and the Sigma Pi or Sigma Chi. Even my dad insists on eating here when he come visits San Diego. The only thing that’s frustrating about Trujillo’s is when I call to place an order. Normally if I’m in a rush, like this past week I was on a short lunch break, I will call in ahead so my food will be ready when I get there. Sometimes their phone is off the hook(I think they fixed that though) and you can’t even place an order. But it’s super annoying because most always they won’t start the order until I get there… I call ahead in advance for a reason and I wish they made the food when they said they would because now I won’t be able to go again for my lunches. I think if Trujillo’s improved this aspect of their business, they would frustrate a lot less customers. But love you forever Trujillo’s!

It was my first time at this spot so I didn’t really know what to get. Everytime I get mexican food I either get fish tacos or a burrito so this time I went for the carne asada torta and boy was I not disappointed! I had a torta once before and it paled in comparison to this one. First off the size was bigger and the bread was extra toasted with the inside very crispy. I loved the variety of veggies in the torta. Lettuce, tomatoes, beans, cheese and I think there were banana peppers but couldn’t tell although it was a little spicy; not complaining! The whole shop was beyond loud. It felt like a few bands were playing live but it was a karaōke system that made me yell at the top of my lungs just to talk to my friend across the small table we were sitting at. That affected the whole mood cuz we didn’t really enjoy it so we left but other than that, the worker was really sweet and it was kinda busy on a Saturday night with students since it was a college town. Definitely would recommend this place! I loved my torta, it had so much flavor and loved how well cooked the beef was including the seasoning.

I guess I expected more from the reviews. Came here with a few friends excited about this place and we all had the same reaction. It was OK. I ordered the shrimp tacos. The girl at the counter described them as «Really, really good»…thats 2 «reallys» so i had high expectations on top of the stellar reviews haha. There wasn’t enough flavor in them. I needed to drench them in the hot sauce and even then it was still just ok. I just need more flavor in my food. especially mexican food. I wouldn’t come back.

You know you always have a fondness for the places around your college – the ones where you and your friends go late at night. The food always tastes better than it really is, the drinks always seem more potent than they really are, and the memories are thicker, all because it’s *your* place. I didn’t go to SDSU, but I thought Trujillo’s Taco Shop was going to be like this – well-reviewed because of memory’s haze, but perhaps not up to snuff in terms of quality. I was wrong. This place really was excellent. First off, the portions are huge. Giant quesedillas, and enormous burritos. The prices are also quite reasonable. Dinner for four only cost me $ 25. That’s huge. You might ask about the taste? Delicious. The carne asada was very good, and so was the guac. The pico de gallo was piquant and tasty. The quesedillas satisfied my three very hungry, very picky children, so plus 1 for that right there. Finally, the folks working here could not have been nicer. They were patient and generous, and gave me lots of extra spicy sauce. My one quibble – and it’s a small one – is the parking situation. It’s not great, but I suspect that most customers(i.e. students) simply walk here. Highly recommended.

We were looking for some Mexican food close to the SDSU campus and it was suggested that we try this place out. For 6 people, we ordered three different burritos: the egg/bacon/french fries breakfast burrito, the carnitas, and the fajitas. Since the burritos were huge, a half portion was enough food for everybody. Also, the cashier was nice enough to give us 6 mini containers of mild salsa to go with our food. Delicious! Unlike mentioned in other Unilocal reviews, wait time was not an issue since we came on a Saturday at 2pm when school was on holiday break. After only 10 minutes, we were out the door. Finally, parking was in short supply. We were able to park on the side of the building, but we couldn’t find a larger parking lot nearby. Our total came out to around $ 18. Great lunch for a good value!

I appreciate great Mexican food, and when I’m in San Diego, there is really no other place worth going. I was able to go here for the first time, twice in during my last weekend’s trip to see a few friends at SDSU. Prices are not extremely cheap, but the price and food combined make everything worth it. Both nights I ordered Carne Asada fries and you get a incredibly large serving each for about $ 9. The Carne Asada is really the best around, so whatever you do, get something with that. Hours are great if you are planning a late night with a few friends around the college. Happy eating!

Trujillos never disappoints. I haven’t been there in years, and it was just as delicious today as it was every other time I went. I ordered a Cali burrito and added guac(because duh). The burrito was as long as my forearm! The French fries were crispy, meat was seasoned well, and the pico de gallo was perfect. Their red hot sauce only made it that much better. I also ordered chips and salsa for later snacking, and holy crap, their chips are delicious and they have just the right amount of salt. They’re accompanied by pico de gallo. A little pricy compared to the places I usually go, maybe $ 1.00-$ 1.50 more expensive, but damnit it was tasty and so worth it. Now excuse me, I need to finish digesting a food baby.

Really? You’ve got to be kidding me. Double charged on my card, ordered a burrito with tomatoes but no poco, got pico and large slices on tomato. Who wants that in their burrito. Like way larger than the meat even. Not good. Literally a pathetic burrito. Thanks guys for robbing me and serving me inedible food.

Really great burrito! Did take a while to get the burrito, but inexpensive for how much amazing food you get. Got the carne asada Trujilio’s burrito The tortilla was nicely toasted and a bit brown/black on some parts which is exactly how I like it The meat: there was a lot of meat and was seasoned well, but wish it was more smokey The rest: was good, but the burrito itself could have been saucier, but they had plenty of salsas in squeeze bottles for your pleasure. 4⁄5 Delicious perfect for late nights or whenever you need a large meal!

Great little college taco shop with delicious food and long wait times. Ordered a shrimp burrito with just guacamole, lettuce and cheese, and savored every bite. One star off for 25 minute wait for my order to be called, but I was a busy Sunday night. I’d return in a heartbeat but only if not in a hurry.

Trujillo’s is great, unfortunately they know that and their prices reflect it. My favorite thing about then is their very very wide variety of choices and selections. They will out whatever you want in a burrito, including the tortilla being a quesadilla with a rolled taco stuffed inside. My favorite thing about them is that they are one of the few places that have campechana fries which are carne asada fries full of adobada. They’re flawless.

I feel like everyone talked up Trujillos so much that I had higher expectations than I should have. Truth be told, my Trujillos experience has been OKAY but not AMAZING. My first time, I ordered enchiladas. They were fine, but not the best I’d ever had. Last week, I got one of their burritos. It was a good size burrito and the meat to filling ratio was spot on for me. Still, not the BEST burrito I’ve ever had and if you’re looking at quantity of stuff inside the burrito, you get more of your moneys worth from Chipotle. Still, the price is right for a filling lunch, dinner, or late night food run. The service was fast and friendly, and the actual shop itself is in a prime location for college students. I might keep trying different things on the menu… maybe I am just not ordering the right thing for me.

I love this place. I’ve come here since I was a student at SDSU. The food is still just as delicious as ever and the service is friendly. Now there are some crazy menu items that would intrigue anyone quesadilla wrapped burrito, rolled taco’s in burritos, you name it. I always get a Trujillo’s burrito which is a burrito of your choice with beans and cheese in it. You really can’t go wrong with anything the food is good quality and they know how to cook.

Like a fool, I decided to eat the whole Sigma pi burrito. I. COULDN’T. STOP. It was tasty with the amount of cheese and juicy flavorful meat. Salsa was spicy as heck do make sure to go for green if you can’t handle the heat. I would definitely come again for a burrito as ready as that. Slightly under $ 10. If you ration, it could be 2 meals.
