Tom and Maya were extremely knowledgeable and helpful in assisting us purchase our first home. We really did not know what we wanted or what to expect but Tom and Maya guided us smoothly through the process. I will start off by confessing that I rarely write reviews and when I do, I do not handout 5 stars. With that being said, I realize that I should give the following review and try my best to layout a proper timeline with some descriptions of my experience.
Ok, let me start by saying that this is my first real estate purchase, but not my last, and that the process was difficult that in the end it turned into a pleasurable experience. I first started looking for a place several years ago and become frustrated with the agent, who come to find out this was not his full time job, which quickly became apparent that the agent really wasn’t all that knowledgeable or motivated. Then I started looking again, but only after I decided to educate myself. I found Tom and Maya Brooks with Weichert Realtors Elite.
We’ve been looking for approximately 6 months before finally finding a large house about a ½ a block from the beach, amazing. However, if you’re not keen to the current market conditions and who is currently making purchases then let me tell you, cash is king, duh. I was able to leverage my VA benefits; Tom’s knowledge along with his innate ability to quickly gather and prepare the proper documents to meet the stringent timelines. Without the proper agent this review would have never taken place for the simple reason, I would still be looking.
Another observation I made is this. With current market prices, low interest rates and with a number of other variables with the economy, have helped to create dreadful situation, I call the perfect storm. Let me explain; loan officers, Mortgage Company’s and escrow agents have so many potential buyers that it is difficult to keep up with the large volume of paperwork which can lead to confusion, kayos and at times, frustration by all parties involved.
The solution is simple, but difficult to achieve with so many agents in southern California. You need an individual who has the ability to manage the team and keep your interests as a buyer a top priority. You need an agent who has the ability to educate an unseasoned selling agent and the ability to navigate the treacherous waters between the overworked mortgage and escrow companies. So, how do you choose the right agent? This to is a simple task; so don’t add complex dependencies to the situation. If that’s what you want then start working on Pythagorean’s theorem and pepper that with Nuclear physics.
Choose an agent who can answer and has the following attributes. * Does the agent exercise good customer service? * How many sales have you handled in the neighborhood? * May I contact your previous clients? * Does the agent have knowledge of current and past market conditions? * Do you represent buyers and sellers on the same house? * Does the agent own property (s)? * How many foreclosures or short-​sale transactions have you handled? * Test your agent by sending a few emails to see if he/​she answers in a timely manner.
Tom has a vast depth of knowledge difficult to find in today’s fluctuating market. If it weren’t for Tom’s knowledge I would have missed my window of opportunity. Tom’s steadfast understanding of rigorous timelines, motivation and ability to answer all of my questions is what turned this working relationship into a gratifying experience. I recommend to anyone who is looking for agent to give Tom and Maya a call before you decide to move forward with an unseasoned agent, you will be pleased that you called Tom and Maya.

Thomas helped me find my dream first home. He is a well-​educated, talented agent with a kind disposition. Through the process I made many offers on all kinds of homes from foreclosures to short sales. Thomas made sure to guide me patiently, gave solid advice on how to proceed and always stayed optimistic no matter what. He made the experience fun for me and also got me a great deal. He is very organized and always answers his phone. After living there for four years, a business opportunity became available to move out of state. Thomas and Maya then sold the home for me. We used Tom and Maya to sell our condo and purchase our home. They were excellent and we highly recommend them. They are extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly — so friendly and likeable that you may become friends with them. They returned phone calls, texts, and emails almost immediately even after business work hours and on the weekends. They made us feel like we were their only clients as they were always available and responded to all of our requests. Tom and Maya spent many hours showing us dozens of houses we were interested in viewing. After we sold our condo, Tom spent approximately 8 hours on Saturday showing us over 10 houses. Tom was the listing agent for the property we just purchased. There were 4 other offers on the table and 3 coming in that day! We were on the edge of our seat about that, but Tom made us feel reassured and confident about our offer.
Tom worked very hard for us and pulled a lot of strings to make sure that our offer was accepted, even though we offered the same price as everyone else. I am sure that we would have gotten into a bidding war if he and his wife did not work so efficiently!

My husband and I had been working with an agent for months trying to find our new home, with little success and lots of disappointment. They were always busy and had a reason why we shouldn’t bother with an offer on a house we were interested in. By chance we met Tom at an open house on our street, then everything changed.
