Therapie Day Spa

I was visiting my BFF in San Diego, and she booked us at this spa. She had never been there, but thought it sounded great from their website. Well, it was spectacular!!! Probably the best spa experience I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot). We started off with wine (free refills), and delicious lunch on the back patio. Then we each had a facial and a massage. Selina did a fabulous facial, and Avelina was absolutely a wonderful massage therapist. The products used are absolutely wonderful as well. I will definitely return to this spa when I visit SD again. I highly recommend it. Thank you Kelly and Therapie Day Spa!!!

Here is another of my crazy long reviews: I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this amazing gem of a day spa before as I have been going to them since they opened. I won’t detail the items everyone repeats except to agree that it is a lovely spot, clean, sweet/​attentive/​chill/​professional staff, and the best affordable spa experience I’ve ever had. My first visit we had the pairing package which was lunch catered from 3^rd Corner Bistro, wine (they offered us refills too!), and a 50 min massage and 30 min facial (you can reverse this too). After that, I never went to another local spa again and won’t ever! I was sold… and have since sold at least a dozen other friends. Since then, I have had waxing (Brazilians with hard wax which I now know is the best kind for pain and redness), couples massages, singles massages, and facials. I’ve brought out-​of-​towners and my persnickety mother and everyone has raved about it. I love this place and Kelly (the owner) so much I’ve even bought numerous gift certificates for others. For those who have lightly complained about their massages not being to their liking — as with most massage therapists, you have to speak up (they aren’t mind-​readers), it is your massage service after all and this team will go above and beyond to make sure it is perfect. They apply the pressure and concentrate on the areas YOU need. Same goes for the AC, ambiance music and lighting! You want it different? Speak up! If they can fix it, they will!
To add to the feeling of total pampering and excellent service (s), they sell sample sizes of like five or six of their awesome products for $ 15 or $ 20. A lot of places like to hock their marked up products but not here. She even threw in a few samples of organic makeup (and took the time to match to my skin tone) that was phenomenal! What makes that even more awesome, is that they customize the samples to exactly what you want (like it isn’t just a prepackaged kit for dry skin, etc). These aren’t like dinky packets either, these were little tubs that lasted me easily ten uses. Just ask on your next visit. I’m sure that if Kelly doesn’t do this sample kit anymore, she probably has free samples to send you home with. Oh… and another awesome thing that they did to show me just how far they do towards excellent customer service: I was supposed to get waxed after a massage/​facial combo and when I decided to extend the massage, they happily moved my waxing to the next day and still honored a single-​use coupon. Top that with the fact that after my wax, my estatician (sp?) noticed that a few of the spots they had zapped with this (literally) magic wand the day before hadn’t really taken (which isn’t their fault, sometimes my skin is just a temperamental bitch). So she not only zapped the few spots again, but she went on to zap a few more. She even put on some more of the finishing serum after using a warm/​damp cloth (before zapping and after) AND exfoliated my lips and applied a great balm… all because she heard me say I had a date night later! Now THAT is paying attention to detail and excellent customer care! They know how to form customer loyalty for sure!
Kelly is also a highly active local merchant that gives back to the community, donating raffle prizes for charity, hosting/​participating in community events and even being a drop off location for the annual food&toy drive. In a town like OB with a very tight night community, Kelly opened up shop and jumped right in to being on par with the best of the best merchants. You won’t be disappointed coming here. Their massages are so amazing my (now ex) boyfriend fell asleep during his (first ever) massage and he’s been back like 30+ times since!
And a side note — you are supposed to tip your therapists, just like your hair stylist or wait staff… and with the way they make you feel, you should! (Their prices are actually cheap compared to other day spas of this caliber at the beach, so you can swing it and still come out paying less than most) Go. ASAP!

My daughter and I had a wonderful morning on Sunday. I had the sugar scrub and massage with Corin WHO WAS GREAT! Best massage ever and I go monthly to get one. My daughter had a massage and facial and was thrilled. This is a small, cute, relaxing place to go. All the gals that work there were friendly and happy. Will go again.

I love this place, the therapists and atmosphere! Had a bad neck ache and they fit me in the same day. Amy worked magic and even gave me some tips on how to help it at home. Highly recommend!

The environment is welcoming, friendly, clean, and each practitioner has their own special tricks of the trade – massage, facials, waxing. They make you feel comfortable and give you an amazing experience. I will keep coming here and will recommend to anyone who asks for a recommendation. The owner is a kind hearted woman who is obviously passionate about her business.

I have been coming to Therapie for over two years, and I honestly can’t imagine life without it! I have received massages, facials, and body scrubs, and I always leave feeling blissful and satisfied. The owner is often at the spa, and she is extremely welcoming, as are the rest of the staff. I have to give special recognition to Jen for being a phenomenal therapist in every modality, but you will have a positive experience with anyone who works there. Do yourself a favor, and make Therapie part of your wellness routine. You won’t regret it! :)

I came here with my girls to celebrate my 30^th birthday! We chose to do the ultimate pairing, it’s a great deal it includes lunch, a message, and a facial. The only complaint I really have is that their «sanctuary» area isn’t really much of a sanctuary, the specialists area for prepping their products was in the same area and they kept coming back there and having loud personal conversations it was a bit unprofessional to be honest, so that is the reason I gave it less stars.

Wife and I scheduled the Ultimate (massage & facial) and were very happy. A really low-​key, friendly environment. The therapists (mine was Amy, wife’s was Celina) were thorough and professional. Nothing short of an excellent experience. After treatment, the staff helped advise where to dine for dinner, while providing an excellent pino to whet our appetite. If I lived here, I would absolutely use this spa regularly.

I really love this spa. I have been here a few times now. I love the atmosphere here, it is always so clam and peaceful and all the workers are very nice and cheerful. The facials here are really lovely. They ask you if you have any particular concerns so they can tailor the facial to your needs. The massage is always really pleasant too. I love doing the deal where you get a massage, facial and lunch. The hummus plate they offer is really tasty. Overall this place has really great service and the experience is always pleasant.

I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed my experience at Therapie. I received the glow signature facial and flow Swedish massage.
First of all, I really appreciated that they listened to my needs. I get claustrophobic easily and Kim McCann ensured I was comfortable throughout the facial regarding the steam and heated bed. She used a raspberry peach enzyme which tingled and felt great. She did extractions, which I needed since I’ve been breaking out a lot lately, but she was very quick and thorough with them. I already noticed an immediate difference in my skin right after the appointment – it already looked brighter and clearer! I felt like she paid special attention to my skin’s issues and ensured I was happy and okay. Maybe this is the norm with facials but I had a negative facial experience at another spa where my skin was incredibly red and broke out even more afterward. It was nice to feel like I was in good hands and see good results. My skin was grateful.
The massage was amazing! I had Kim Zucconi and she ensured that I was comfortable with the bed heat, etc right from the beginning. We chatted the whole time which was nice but she definitely seemed like she would allow me quiet space if I didn’t want to talk. The conversation was really nice and helped relax me. She did great work on my neck, which is a problem area for me.
I highly recommend this spa if you are looking for a personalized experience that is customized to your needs. Not only does the spa provide a cute beach vibe, but the services are expertly given. I hope to return soon!

The staff and massage therapists at Therapie took such great care of me and my boyfriend. I scheduled a couples massage for my bf’s birthday and he came down with a nasty cold. The receptionist Heather was so sweet, rescheduled us without an issue, and even called me back to confirm the new appointment. Customer service A+++. The space is so serene, clean, and the perfect setting to relax. Our massage therapists, Kimmie and Avelina, were attentive and took their time discussing problem areas, injuries, etc. Kimmie got into all the deep nooks and crannies of my tight and overworked neck and shoulders. Both gals were so personable and made for an incredible and relaxing evening. We will definitely be back!

I have been to Therapie for a variety of services, and all are fantastic and the price is right.
But the reason I keep going back is Jazmin for nail services.
Her attention to detail is beyond any other nail experience I’ve had, and I’ve been doing this for YEARS all over San Diego, so I can say that with confidence.
The ‘seasonal’ pedicures are to die for, a euphoric experience for the senses… even complete with an eye mask and reclined chair to tune out in a private room. Luxury for a great price!
My favorite service is the shellac manicure. Jazmin is meticulous and the end result is great and lasts for weeks. Last time I did a nail art design for my trip to New Orleans. Great color choices and wonderful product. Jazmin is the best!

If I could give 10 stars I would! I have absolutely no complaints about this spa and I am pretty picky when it comes to spa’s. I have gone on two separate occasions and both times have been great! The first time I had a delicious chicken salad paired with wine from the Third Corner and then a massage! Yesterday I went and had a 50 minute facial and 50 minute massage. Both were amazing! I had Celina for my facial and she was giving me great tips on skin care and she even gave me a little sample to take with me. I did not buy any products this time, but I definitely want to come back and get another facial and slowly buy the suggested products. I could really see the difference in my skin this morning when I woke up. Plus all the products that she used on my face smelled amazing! Kimmie was my masseuse and she did such an amazing job of combining relaxation and still applying pressure. I left there feeling so relaxed and like a whole new person. The best part is their prices are so reasonable. It was $ 120 for both of those! You cant beat that! They have a monthly membership program that I will definitely be joining in the near future. I have bought a couple gift cards for friends as well and they have said nothing but good things! Highly recommend!

AMAZING! I have had a facial, massage, prenatal massage, and manicure here! Everything was awesome. The girls are so sweet and comforting.

My boyfriend wanted to get a couple’s massage for my birthday present (and probably for himself too) so we decided to check this place out. Even though I’ve gotten massages at places before, it was my first time ever getting any kind of professional massage like this so I had no idea what to do. The person at the front desk was very welcoming and greeted us with a smile. She took us to a lounge in the back and offered us water.
I got Shauna and my boyfriend got Jen. They were also very friendly and seemed happy to be with us. They let us undress down to however we felt comfortable, so we could keep our undergarments on if we wanted to. Both of us told them to apply heavier pressure, and we could definitely feel that they did. It’s been a while since our last massages, so we knew that we would have a lot of knots and tightness. They would go over our bodies until they found a knot, then they would work on it until it untightened. In the last massage I got (not from here), the guy pressed so hard that I had bruises the next day. Because of that experience, I didn’t know if that was the way that massages were supposed to be. When I came out of there, I felt more relaxed immediately after. I wanted to go right to sleep once I left, even though it was around noon.
Once they were done they let us take our time in getting up and putting our clothes back on. While we were paying, Jen told my boyfriend where she found him to be tighter, and gave him a few stretching pointers that he could use for himself before he goes to the gym. After we finished paying, they invited us back to the lounge where they offered us wine and tea. We hung around there and took our time, and when we were finally done, they wished us a nice day.
The next day we could still kind of feel where they worked on us, but we felt a lot more relaxed and less stressed. We could also feel that our muscles were less tight. We would love to come back here sometime!

I was staying in town and wanted a better and less expensive experience than what the hotel spa could offer… I’m really excited to find this place. There was no parking on the main front street but parking a few streets away was an easy walk. I’ve visited several day Spas for massages in my life and this is one of the best. The building is a made over old house and is very welcoming. I had a fusion massage (more pressure than swedish) and facial and the young lady was very helpful about finding what worked for me without up selling every chance she got. Make sure you add this stop to your itenerary after you walk the zoo and balboa park.

I have had a good handful of services here so finally I’m able to write a review from experience. This place is the best. I heard a couple girls at working talking about how much they love coming here, so the next time my body was aching from my workouts, I scheduled an appointment. One of the things I love about this place is they usually always have a slot available if you decide you must come today/​this afternoon because you killed yourself surfing in some swell the day before or whatever. Their monthly upgrades are always themed and really fun. I get my emails and I’m like, «Oooh, mojito upgrade? I love mojitos!» Yeah, it’s like that! Their online booking is so easy too. I also want to say that I have had a few massages before and I never got the hype. Coming here was the first time I ever walked out feeling it was money and time very well spent.
The atmosphere is adorable. When you’re in your service you will not hear a single car on the road, you won’t hear anybody in the halls, not a toilet flush in another room, nothing! Bliss! They always use coconut oil and that smell right there alone relaxes me, so aloha to that! These girls are so professional and SO GOOD at what they do. You know when you meet someone and you think, Yes, this is what this person is supposed to be doing with their life??? That’s how I feel about these girls. My hot stone massage from Faegann was so amazing I literally, for real, no joke, ALMOST MOANED TWICE. D: I had to shut it down for fear of being a total creep. Shauna is always incredible as well. I switched it up one time and got a sugar scrub body polish from her and was so surprised because it’s basically like a massage but I felt like I just got out of the womb with my super soft skin for like a whole week! The shower for that is legit too… sooo luxurious… like when did I win the lottery to deserve this kind of pampering?! These are my thoughts when I’m there lol.
I will say that one time… ONE time… I was dying to get in and had to choose the last appointment of the day. I don’t remember the girl’s name but I felt like she did not want to be there closing shop with me and was totally half assing it (like throwing blankets and things like that… stuff that takes you out of the moment and makes you feel like a nuisance…) and I didn’t feel as comfortable as I am every other time. I didn’t let that one time ruin my love for this place though, so aside from that one night, this place is VERY deserving of 5 stars!

This is my first time ever getting a massage. And it was a spontaneous decision to book an appointment to Therapie Day Spa, but I’m glad I did it! I booked my appointment Saturday evening for the evening to follow. I got the Fusion Therapy Integrated Massage with Faegann & I was beyond pleased with everything!
The location was very easy to find, and parking on a Sunday evening was fairly easy to find– which is a major plus. Once I walked in, I got acquainted with the receptionist and she handed me the paperwork for my massage. All the staff that I came across were very calm and welcoming, as many of the other 5 star reviews have mentioned.
Faegann, my massage therapist, had introduced herself to me as I was filling out my paper work. She had a very laid-​back, easy-​going personality & I enjoyed the service she gave me. I let her know that it was my first time getting a massage at Therapie Day Spa, and also my first massage ever. She was understanding and walked me through what normally happens in a massage, which I was really appreciative about. She also did it in a manner that didn’t make me feel uncomfortable whatsoever.
As far as the massage, Faegann was amazing! Her pressure wasn’t too much or too little. I felt like I was getting exactly what I needed with what I could handle. After the massage, Faegann was very intuitive and notified me about what to look forward to for my next massages. Faegann is very intuitive, helpful, friendly & professional! I’m looking forward to my next massage with her at Therapie Day Spa :-)

I’m visiting from London and booked a mani & pedi, facial and massage at the salon. The ambience, staff and service here is first class and one of the best I’ve experienced anywhere in the world. And I’m a world traveller!
Jazmin’s mani and pedi service is absolutely fantastic. I’ve been twice now, and would not go anywhere else in San Diego. The massage and facial was the perfect experience. Totally relaxing and therapeutic. The service is so good, I’m treating my two daughters to a massage here. Can’t think of a better treat. This salon is so good, the next time I’m in San Diego, I’m going to pre-​book all my vacation beauty appointments here. This is world class service and congratulations to the owner and her team for such a great salon.
