Selvin did it again !
my driver side strut got lose cause the lower bolt broke,
Same story — I go to «…Tire «on Garnet and they are telling me that I need a new lower arm and upper arm and the new strut (old is fine however and only 6mo old), anyway they quoted about $ 1,000 for the job…
I say thank you and drive directly to Selvin, who solves the problem for under 10% of the previous local shops quote via drilling out the old bolt and installing the new bolt.

Honesty, great mechanical professionalism, amazing problem solving.
10 years ago had a North County mechanic tell me the 740i engine was blown. Tony gave it back to me 3 days later! I drove it for another 5 years.

My Mercedes’ check engine light came on and the tranny started leaking after a recent service was completed at a different local Mercedes specialist who I’ve used for the past 5 years.
I brought the car to Ultimate Autoworks to get a second opinion. Selvin found the leak was due to my previous mechanic installing a damaged part! He showed me the leak and the damaged part. Selvin also checked the codes for the check engine light and reset it and he provided me a written estimate for the additional items I requested, and all at no cost. NO COST! yes! for real! no cost!
How can I go anywhere else after that??? I CAN’T!!! and you shouldn’t either.
If you need a REPUTABLE & HONEST MECHANIC this is your last and only stop.

After being told by another car repair shop that my car needed a part — and wanting a second opinion — I took it to The Ultimate Autoworks at the suggestion of a friend. Selvin took a look at it, moved something around, and the problem was fixed! And he didn’t charge me a dime. That is how you build trust with a potential customer. I have since taken my car there for brake job which was done quickly and at a fair price. Selvin is the best! I will always take my Mercedes to Ultimate Autoworks in the future when it needs work.

I cannot recommend ultimate Auto Works enough. When I bought my first Mercedes 10 years ago I was told that it needed a new head gasket at three different auto shops. I was quoted anywhere between 1500 and $ 2,000 for the work at three different places. When I brought it to Selvin at Ultimate Auto Works he looked at my car and told me that it was simply the bolts rattling loose over time! He simply retortqued down the head gasket and my car ran fine for 10 years until the transmission finally gave out. Cost? $ 150 for labor! :]
I am now on my second Mercedes and I will never take it anywhere else for service. If you want someone who is fair and honest, and who knows foreign cars inside and out, take your car to ultimate Auto Works. I recommend them to everyone I know.

Agree honest reasonably priced and super nice guys. Came because I knew Tony’s wife but recently deal with Selvin he is great and trustworthy.

I should have put a review up years ago (sorry)… Ultimate is awesome. This is the only place to go in San Diego
Selvin is not only a fantastic BMW guru he is honest, kind and is true to his word, Ultimate has worked on my car (BMW) and on my daughter car (Mercedes) for years. they are fair, they help keep cost down by finding different options for you.

5 stars is not enough for Selvin and Ultimate Autoworks. As a customer after a while you get a feel for what a real Mercedes specialist should be like, and he is it. I have a ’94 500SL and have been to a lot of places but Selvin is the best i have had. While Mercedes repairs are always pricey, they are very reasonable and do perfect work.

I should have known about this place much earlier!
After finding all the good recommendations about this place here on Unilocal I thought I give it a shot. I brought in my 89 Mercedes S-​Class that had idling and surging issues. When discussing the possible reasons for this, I realized they’re really knowledgable about older European cars. Of course they could fix it in no time and didn’t charge me an arm and a leg. They also discussed things that would need attention in the future, but did not try to convince me doing the repairs right away (as many other places would do). The car now runs as smoothly as being brand new! I am really excited about this experience with them and for sure will return for my next issue with the car!

This review is way overdue! My husband and I have been taking our cars to them for a couple of years now and we have nothing but great things to say about Ultimate Autoworks — they are reliable, pretty fairly priced, thorough and just good mechanics. They do treat us like family and we know that if anything ever goes wrong with our cars, the guys at Ultimate Autoworks will take care of the issues without overcharging. Really priceless for a mechanic!

I have had Tony and crew do service and repairs on many cars… They always deliver quality work and they are really good at solving those impossible problems. I find them to be very fair on their prices and they care about what they do… So if you have a Mercedes or a Bmw don’t hesitate to use these guys as they can handle almost anything

The Ultimate Autoworks is the best place in San Diego to take your German car. I have been taking my two BMWs for 2 years now and I have always been extremely happy with both the results and service. Salvin the main technician goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure everything is done properly. Tony and Salvin are very honest guys that make you feel at ease. UA was recommended to me by somebody else and I have a few people at at my work who also use them and just have the exact same comments I do. Also very important, they are very reasonable when it comes to price and always flexible to take a look at your car on the spot without much notice. So go to this shop in confidence and you’ll be taken care of.

These guys are hands down, fantastic. I have a 10-​yr old C-​class and there’s always something random that needs attention on it. My catalytic converter went bad and my prior mechanic in the Convoy area said they’d charge about $ 2K for new ones PLUS a minimum of $ 45 or more to run diagnostics to make sure that was the problem. At the same time, they tried to get me to replace a part that they had already replaced a year earlier (it probably was never broken and when I told them they already replaced it, they said «oops, wrong person»). Needless to say, I ditched that mechanic and needed to find a new one. I found Ultimate Autoworks on Unilocal (thank you, Unilocalers) and couldn’t be happier with my choice to go there. Without my asking, they offered me refurbished genuine Mercedes parts (which have a warranty) at HALF the price of the what 2 other mechanics were charging. (One told me the parts weren’t available and the other told me they weren’t any cheaper.). When I dropped off my car, a man was walking in with the converters. Since I was a little suspicious about what parts I was getting for the amazing price they quoted, I followed the guy into the garage and asked to look at the parts. That guy turned out to be an employee of Mercedes who was delivering the parts order. He picked up the parts, showed me the serial numbers and mercedes logo and explained that there was a warranty but that the parts would last much longer than the warranty period anyway. Exactly as I was told! UA fixed the problem (this was months ago) and the car has been driving like new again. Fabulous.

This is the best mechanic out there for European cars. Awesome results, reasonable pricing, quality parts, and top notch service. Their attention to detail gets an A+ and they know their stuff inside & out. If you care about your vehicle a lot, take it to Ultimate-​Autoworks. I’m confident you’ll be a happy returning customer.

I’ve been going to Tony for about a decade. His willingness to discuss my car’s problem over the phone prior to ever meeting me drew me to use him for the first time. His pricing kept me coming back. His honesty is why I plan to continue with him as long as I’m able.

After hearing great things, took my car in in August. Got it back 6 weeks later, literally everything I asked them to fix was not just worse but much worse than when I had taken it in. To give them a chance to make it right, called the owner, Tony, said he would make it right personally. Picked it up today, 2 ½ months after the initial service. Went to pay the bill, $ 500 for minor repairs and then the original mechanic tried to charge me for the original work he screwed up on top of the new bill. Can’t imagine worse service, attitude, ridiculous. Do not waste your money or your time.

These guys treat me like family.
Honest, reliable that’s what I look for in a mechanic.
