The Clubhouse At Imperial Beach

I see all these negative comments, but I’m actually very pleased with these apartments, we haven’t had any problems yet, I have seen dog droppings but not around in the area where we’re at. And we really dont hear the helicopters hovering around its just the noise from the cars since the street is right across, but other than that We’re really enjoying our apartment.:)

Avoid at all costs. This place has been nothing but a disaster. Their stupid rent a cops put a notice on my car that I had an invalid parking permit. Wrong. I had the parking permit provided by the front office on my car, in plain sight. And when I call these ridiculous rent a cops to explain, all they did was take down my phone number. I don’t appreciate someone taking down my cars information and leaving a notice on my car that was completely inappropriate and wrong. Dealing with the noise and hobos are fine, not a big deal, the problems come from management and their irresponsible practices. There is a high turnover for a reason and people should really do their research before signing a lease here.

So I just moved here when they started with a new management company. I move here in Feb. Since then I have repeatedly complained about the dog crap everywhere and they finally sent out a letter to all the residents to pick up after your pet and to make them go in the designated areas. While I understand the need for certain areas, it is not possible if you have small dogs that will go where they need to. I pick up after my dogs. But if I get caught having them pee anywhere else I will be fined. But there is still dog crap everywhere anyway. Strike 1. Now with in the last 2 days I have received a notice on my car saying I was illegally in a parked area just because they gave me the wrong parking sticker. All they had to do was send notices on peoples doors to come get a new sticker. I belleve my vehical is my personal property so don’t touch it, I think a proper way to deal with issuses like that is to put a note on my door. There is quite a bit of noise from the base very close to the complex which I really find soothing. The other noise is from the residents or the pets. When a resident is fighting you can hear it in the entire complex. We are only here temporaly until we are able to buy a house. If you want something cheap then this is the place for you. Also take in to consideration that they say there is security but I have seen the man 2 times since moving in and there are many nights where I cant sleep so Im oout side sitting often.

This property has been purchased and is under new management, and it should be noted that most of the problems are environmental and not always a direct result of poor management.
…this is, quite literally, the sort of place you live when you are on a tight budget (by San Diego cost of living standards). Lets get a few things out of the way; first, the complex is located a stone’s throw away from both the Job Corps and the Naval Outlying Field. This means you’ll hear some sort of event going on almost every Thursday at the Job Corps like a concert or an outdoor movie projection being played quite loudly. It also means that you cannot avoid the sound of SH-​60 Seahawk helicopters interrupting whatever you’re listening to, watching. Want to close your door and windows? Doesn’t make much of a difference. Location is not terrible if you have a car. The public commute, however, is quite a task even though the bus stops are right outside. The only direct route to wherever you need to go is by car or walking. The bus takes a huge loop around Coronado/​Imperial Beach Ave and Palm, so instead of a direct L to anywhere, it’s a huge rectangle. This is a pet friendly complex which is probably one of the two things that’s decent about it since we own two dogs, but you won’t find too many responsible pet owners. Most people think it’s the maintenance crew’s job to pick up their dog’s waste. It’s an eyesore sometimes. Most of the grass is well kept, but there are some parts of the landscaping that leave something to be desired. Conspicuous signs have been posted throughout the property to prevent dog defecation on the nice grass, but the signs are just as much of an eyesore as the animal waste.
The apartments are cozy, but aren’t renovated at a high turnaround rate. I moved into a unit without new carpet installed and that had its cabinets and woodwork simply painted over, and poorly; the cabinetry had its hinges painted over, everything squeaked when opened, and the quality of appliances leaves much to be desired though that is changing as units are renovated with new stainless steel appliances.
Now to the people. What can I say, this place offers temporary living and caters to active duty military. I’m prior service, and I feel I have to qualify myself as such because where I do offer a scathing review is with the caliber of tenants. You can’t really predict who you’re neighbor will be from week to week. This is normal in most military communities, however, with apartment living you may get a nice quiet couple, or the loud, newly single divorcée who wants to drink with his friends all the time and force you to call security after he ignores you repeated attempts at handling the situation yourself. It’s quite unpredictable. The weekly, or bi-​weekly groundskeeping feels sporadic so you might be woken up by leaf blowing, lawn mowing, or even general maintenance tasks like an electric saw cutting wood for part of a renovation project. It’s like the property is well positioned for the best acoustics in the worst possible way!
So here are my pros and cons,
Pros: Low cost (with trade-​offs), decently cozy floorpans, exceptional customer service and support, pet friendly, accessible public transit, open parking.
Cons: Non-​gated, hobos in the garbage daily (and nightly), trees over parking drop buds and branches on cars, irresponsible pet owners leave waste around, conspicuous «no pet poop» signs everywhere, some lawn needs attention, unpredictable neighbor situations, frequent move-​ins and outs, noise from base and Job Corps, property has undergone several changes in management and is currently under new ownership and management.
I’m surprised that anything in this area reaches a market value even close to 1000 dollars considering the noise, and environment. While this is one of the «nicer» properties in the area, that’s not saying much when you look around at the condition of the houses and other rental properties that surround it. What can you say… that’s just how most neighborhoods work, right?

I lived here for 4 months. It an ok place to live if your on a budget. But it’s honestly not worth it. At first it seems decent but it’s loud and my next door neighbor had her car and her home broken into. When the manager came to look at the damages all she could talk about was that her dog pooped in the grass and not in the designated area. She showed no worry about the theft of her valuables not to mention her wedding ring. They never came to even put a dinky lock on the windows. I broke my lease and moved out. It’s been over 3 months and I have not received my security deposit and they avoid my calls and do not return voice mails. If you have a dog forget about these places. They are rule nazis and not in a good way. I would never recommend these «apartments» to anyone. The only good thing I have to say is about the maintenance people. They rock. If your in the military don’t move here its not as friendly as they claim to be.

I have been living @ The Clubhouse since Feb 2013. The only thing (which isn’t a complaint) is that the units are small, but comfy. I knew what we were getting into prior to signing the lease. We are happy with the maintenance and the fast response to the request that we put in. Response time is ALWAYS less than 24hrs. The staff is wonderful and always willing to help to their best of their ability. The pool and Jacuzzi are well maintained, they have security that patrols the property @ night and new washer& dryers that accepts debit/​credit cards. (No more scrounging for quarters).
I would highly recommend this property to friends & family (I always do when someone is looking for a place within the area). I enjoy it here.

Alright I lived here from July 2012 — December 2012, on a four month lease. I had a one bedroom apartment with one bathroom furnished. The furniture was cheap and the kitchen stuff was all from dollar tree (serious go look if you don’t believe me) so the first time you cook its damaged and you will have to pay for it. Also there is a lot of noise at all times from helicopters patrolling the border and the nonstop loud music from neighbors. You will have to leave your windows open to have cool fresh air since there is no a/​c. Which in turn you get the sprinklers and loud neighbors all day and night. Also While i was here there where multiple break ins, and car break ins (they do a good job of not talking about it, but you are like a mile from the border so do the math). There are people who come buy and go through the dumpsters for metal etc with trucks so its easy for them to rob you blind. Also if you want something fixed, wait time is couple weeks! My door was broke for two weeks! They did a shoddy repair and left. I do not recommend this place at all, tons of cheaper places for a better price! I was stuck in this lease and would have bailed long ago!
