Got tattooed by Jordan last week — was referred to him by Dean (another tattooer at Superfly who I’ve also gotten sweet work from). Both dudes were fantastic… professional, clean, and accommodating. Jordan did a bang up job, very pleased with the results. No attitudes or bad vibes whatsoever like some other shops I’ve been to. An overall A+ experience.

Derek is the fabulous artist I had do the work for me… Clean, gentle and professional. Derek really made me feel like I was in right place to get my first two tattoos. Such clean and perfect art! Thank you Derek for your eye for detail and wonderful character!

I went here with my fiancé and another friend; both wanted to get their first tattoos, and this is the spot we chose. I’m glad we did. The artists who helped us are super down-​to-​earth and their skills are top-​notch. If you’re looking to get some new ink, get it here.

I got my lip pierced at Enigma Professional Piercing and about 6 weeks later I stopped by Superfly to get rings that had shorter posts. I got 2 and I explained to the gentleman who helped me that I still had the original ring in (which is on standard 16 gauge) and he picked out 2 14 gauge rings which I hadn’t noticed until after he put one of them in my lip that the moron grabbed too large of a gauge. He sat there for about 5 minutes fighting to get it into my lip and it didn’t occur to him (a supposed «professional piercer») that he was using too large of a gauge. After he finally got it into the hole, he made a comment that there was just «gunk» blocking it. I am sorry to say, that «gunk» was my lip! He damaged my lip and it basically went back to the healing timeline as if I had just gotten it pierced. I had to start using the saline rinse again. NEVER GOING BACK FOR ANY OF MY TATTOO OR PIERCING NEEDS! THESE PEOPLE ARE MORONS AND DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING! Very livid and I was told by the caring, experienced, and knowledgeable staff at Enigma Professional Piercing that I should not go there again because they obviously lack the experience and knowledge necessary to call themselves «Professional». As an alternative to going to Superfly, I would suggest Enigma Professional Piercing for piercing needs or Avalon Tattoo 2 over on Adams Ave in the North Park area. Much better and much more professional and knowledgeable. I read through some of the other posts pretty much saying there have been others with horrible experiences as well and all the replies I’ve seen have pretty much been «I am sorry for your terrible experience, we are now under different management now…», My experience was AFTER the management changes. Obviously, changes have not been made as much as the staff seems to think.

Got my nostril pierced by Matthew Blake a year ago. he was a sweet, gentle, clean, everything you could want in a piercer especially for your first time. He set the bar high and I thought superfly would be my go to place. Boy was I wrong! Went back to get my septum pierced a year later unfortunately Matt isn’t there any more. This stoner melting onto the couch glued to his phone was «running the shop» if you can call it that. He never bothered to get his ass up off the couch. He told me the piercer was at their other shop (off the wall) and kept calling her cell and called her a bitch for not answering. That turned me off and I walked out with 2 other friends who were ready to be pierced as well. We ended up going to off-​the-​wall and I got pierced by Sunny (she is also a sweetie btw). I don’t know what possessed me to go back to super fly this time to get a piece of jewelry as a present. The same idiot was on the couch doing nothing and he and another guy were bickering/​arguing about who was going to help me, as in neither of them wanted to help me. Eventually the guy went behind the counter glanced at the top shelf and told me they didn’t have what I was looking for. Sidenote the glass display was absolutely filthy. Again I walked out and ended up going to enigma on Adams which was a 180 from this. Will never be coming back here again. Sadly neither Matt nor sunny work here, that is the only reason I gave them one star. I guess business must be really good for them since they don’t care about turning people off.

Phil Lesley came highly recommend, and I would highly recommend him in return. He was professional, quick, and easy to work with. He did great work — good line work, no blowout, and for a great price. As soon as my new piece heals up I’ll be back for another and to add a little to the piece I just got. Clean shop, nice workers, and competitive prices.

I do not recommend this place for piercings at all. In February, I got my tongue pierced, snake eyes style. I called before to make sure the piercer knows how to do the piercing correctly since it’s a bit difficult to do. Man do I regret going there.
My best friend wanted nipple piercings while I wanted snake eye piercings. She went first and the guy pierced her nipples but had such a hard time doing it, as if he never did it beforehand or even after. He struggled to get the piercing into the nipple which caused a lot of pain for my friend. I noticed that he also pierced her with curved barbells and a bar that was way smaller than her nipples. Didn’t say anything because I just thought that since he’s more experienced with piercing, he would know what to do. Fast forward about two weeks, the piercing was so small for her nipples that it ended up creating a big hole and her barbells ended up getting lost in her skin. When pinched, the piercing peeks out but with no pressure, you couldn’t tell her nipples were pierced at all. It was disgusting. She had a bad infection and ended up having to take it out due to the small piercing might get lost inside her. SO SCARY. This happened to BOTH of her nipples also.
On to my story. Let’s just start, he pierced my tongue totally crooked. you can tell that he just pierced it and wanted the money and send us our way. So I sat down, I knew I was going to drool but he didn’t give me any napkins or even told me to rinse my mouth. AGAIN, thought he knew what he was doing, he also pierced my tongue with a curved barbell. 16 gauge. Anyways, I have plenty of piercings and this is probably one of the worse feeling piercings ever. It hurt so bad, the moment I saw the piercing after it was done, you can instantly tell it was crooked. 4 days passed by, I couldn’t eat, couldn’t swallow and was in such terrible pain. As I looked closer at my tongue, my piercings were also getting embedded to my tongue. My husband called and demanded that they do something about it. Manager said he’ll fix the problem which I appreciate it. So we went to the shop, the piercer tells us, oh it’s a slight crooked, NO, it was a very noticeable slant. He changed my curved barbell out and put in a 14 gauge long regular tongue barbell which, he had to deal with my ass crying because not only did he pierce me wrong, he was stretching my tongue out. After that, he cleaned up the station and before I could even walk out the shop, he was gone, didn’t know where he was.
Fast forward to now. I decided not to come back to get my piercing redone. You fucked up once, I won’t trust you again or even let you anywhere near my tongue just in case you make the same mistake twice. I took my tongue piercing out because after 3 months, my tongue was ripping due to the terrible placement of the piercing and my tongue never healed. Only kept it in just to see if it would ever heal and to give the guy at superfly the benefit of the doubt. But I took myself to another shop and the piercer said, the way the piercing was made, it was never gonna heal. FML moment.
Sorry for the super long rant but people need to know that if you want a good piercer, do not trust a guy with no piercings besides gauges. I don’t need to bag on the guy or the shop but the guy needs to relearn piercings and the shop needs to show at least some sympathy or something not just brush us off. So rude and disrespectful.

Alex Kuo, is THE MAN! Literally painless application of both my pieces! He created EXACTLY what I was hoping for, fit me in during the hours I was available and is quick and talented!!! Can’t thank you enough!

First off, this place has the best prices on jewelry, nose rings only run for $ 5. That being said, I will never come back here for a piercing. I got my septum pierced here, although everyone seemed cool, the guy failed to mention that he pierced my septum crooked. Thinking it was just aligned wrong I went along believing it was alright. The next day I had to go to work and the jewelry which he told me I’d have no problem flipping, ended up being way too big to flip. So I ended up going to Enigma to get smaller jewelry that’s where they told me it was pierced crooked and he pierced the wrong spot so even if I was to flip it the piercing would still show. I ended up having to take the piercing out. Superfly only wanted to offer 50% another piercing. I definitely do not plan on getting pierced a second time. I was just upset that he wouldn’t own up to messing up. The 2 stars is just for the great prices on jewelry.

Friend got a piercing here and everyone was very helpful. Clean shop with awesome people.

Very clean, very personal, and nice work. Ask for Ron. He takes his time and makes sure you’re getting exactly what you want. Pricing is very fair as well.

It was my birthday and the only thing I really wanted was to get at least three more helix piercings. My three piercings were done swiftly, and professionally by Ashley Darling, and I love them!

My friend and I had been talking about getting piercings for a couple of weeks and finally, after a couple cocktails in the gaslamp, decided to go through with it.
We walked in and were immediately greeted by a very petite and pretty girl who happened to be the piercer. I feel bad not remembering her name, but she was tiny. My friend was a newbie to piercings, while I’ve had my fair share; she decided to go subtle and get a nose stud, while I decided to get my nipples pierced (hey, you gotta get a little crazy sometimes).
I went first and my friend watched. The room was extremely clean and the piercer was super professional as she took the time to measure the barbels against me to see what would be the best fit. I laid back, she told me to say the word when I was ready, and a couple of moments later it was over. Obviously there was some pain, but nothing unbearable.
She was thorough in that she even sterilized and wiped down the table I’d been lying on before my friend sat down to get her nose done. She briefed us on aftercare, the standard saline solution (H2Ocean for instance) and non-​scented, gentle soap with warm water in the shower.
My friend was happy with her nose ring and me with mine as well, placement and sizes were just right, and the prices were standard, nothing outrageous. Overall I was really happy with this place, probably the best piercing experience I’ve had so far!

I got my septum piercing done by a really cool guy named Shadoc (I think) about a week ago, and couldn’t have had a better experience. The whole thing was quick and easy, no mess & definitely felt like I was in a professional setting. Would definitely recommend to a friend and would go back if I want anything else pierced. Overall a great time, so I give it 5 stars.

Alex Kuo is an amazing tattoo artist. I had him design me a piece in Chinese to memorialize someone and he did an extraordinary job. Not only was he professional and thoughtful, he created a beautiful piece of art. I highly recommend this artist, he also makes tattoo machines that are very cool. Five stars.
I see no reason to go anywhere else.

I stopped in yesterday and got 5 dermal anchors removed from my neck. I’ve had them for 7 years, 2 of them got stripped so the jewelry wouldn’t stay in anymore so I just decided to have them all removed. Amy removed them for me. She is the SHIZZZZ!!! VERY minimal discomfort, even though one of them had migrated away from the surface and she had to search for it. I have teeny tiny little marks from getting them removed and shy was VERY careful not to affect the surrounding tattoo! I was BEYOND impressed and she definitely kept me entertained. I loved having dermals, just not in that spot. I plan on getting dermals again in the future and you better believe I’m coming to Amy to get them done.

I was in the market for a large leg piece and found this place. I checked a few of the artist there and decided to let Victor do the work. He said to give him a day to draw up something, since my idea was kind of vague. I came back the next day and he had drawn up two awesome designs. I picked up and he got right to work on it. He works pretty fast and does very detailed work. I was extremely impressed with it, and that was a little over a year ago, and it still looks fantastic.
I was so impressed with him, that I referred my wife to him to get a huge rib cage piece done. He drew something up while we waited and finished it fairly quickly. Once again, he did amazing work and was very professional. Her tattoo has fully healed and looks great.
I’m not sure about the previous reviews of his work and attacking his character. My experiences were fantastic and I will most certainly return for future work. Oh yeah, he also did some work on a few of friends, and they also have no complaints.

It was my first time getting a tattoo and I chose superfly because of their artists (well, I originally looked up a bunch of places and found black hearts to have really good artists, but it turns out they closed and became superfly).
Every one at the shop was super friendly, which was very calming (being my first time, I was kind of nervous about everything and the pain). I had emailed and texted my artist, Rodney, ahead of time about all the specifics and he was very informative about everything. Everything went smoothly and I love my new tattoo and it looks amazing. Rodney is an amazing artist (you should see his paintings) and I am very glad that he was the one to ink me. He made me feel at easy the whole time and made sure I was okay.
Tattoos are addicting… I’m already thinking about my next one and I will definitely have it done at superfly or black hearts or whatever they’re going to call themselves next.

I finally got a tattoo! For the longest time I had always wanted one, but wasn’t really sure exactly what I wanted. Superfly helped me get over that hump. I decided that, if I was going to put something on my body that would be there for the rest of my existence it better be something I will always be into. I am of Irish decent and concluded that there was no way I ever wouldn’t be so I decided to go with something that represented my heritage. (a shamrock) I know I know it seems like every dude with a hint of Irish in him gets a clover tattoo. That’s what I was worried about going in there. Well my tattoo artist from Superfly made me such a badass looking shamrock it was easy to forget how common of a design it is.
My artists’ name was Bernie. She was awesome! Had been doing tattoos for over 16 years. I came in and brought a picture of a clover that I thought was ok but looked a little feminine. I gave her a $ 20 deposit and asked her to do something similar to the picture, but to man it up a bit. When I came back she had this badass little sketch of a four leaf clover with a Celtic design inside of it. After running it by a good friend to make sure I wasn’t making a big mistake it was tattoo time.
The actual process of getting it was different than I had expected. It hurt a little bit, but it was a strange good hurt. Bernie was great and kept asking me if I was comfortable. After about 5 minutes she said «I can tell you have been drinking». Even though it was the night before she said for future reference to be sober for about 36 hours before as drinking thins out your blood. We continued anyways. She made me feel right at home even though I think she thought it was funny that I was a first timer. About 3 hours later I was done, and it looked about 20 times better than the sketch. (I’ve posted a pic on my profile.) Bernie gave me an info sheet on how to clean and take care of the tattoo, and even through in a free shirt for being a first timer.
Although, some people have told me that what I paid for my design was a little expensive for what it was I think it was the right choice. The professionalism and friendliness of their staff made me feel right at home even though, I was a little nervous. If you’re a first time tattoo getter I would recommend Superfly. Ask for Bernie!
