Suites On Paseo

Mark, who is from italy is an awesome chef. Just go to him and tell him what you want to eat. He immidiately gets it and gives you the best what you want. Everybody should taste him stuff. This is what i always recommend to everybody about SOP !

This place is awesome. The food singers and the device is so very much appreciated. They actually care that you enjoy yourself and like where you live. So much better than Aztec corner. I recommend suites on paseo to everyone!

This place is comfortable and I chose to live here because of how close in walking distance it is to campus! The dinner service at the bistro always has more options and it is my favorite time to eat there :)

Living at the Suites on Paseo was a great experience. What made it so livable was the great staff. Im giving a shout out to the head of the maintenance department Mr. Lee Rich and John, as well as the front desk staff and its manager, as well as the kitchen and cleaning staff. In other words, when something broke, it was fixed immediately. The front desk let me print out my essays for class like 5 times. Finally, the food was delicious, seriously delicious. I recommend the Turkey Avocado Panini, it was a staple of my diet for a good 6 months.

My review is for Chef. Mark Dinapoli especially. He makes THE BEST fettuccine Alfredo pasta in the entire bistro squad. He cooks it with love and passion. He should actually open a restaurant of his own haha. That’d be great. All five stars go to him. I call him «Alfredo» because of that. Everyone should call him that from now on.

I would first like to say that this rating is strictly for the Bistro within the Suites on Paseo. This rating has nothing to do with the living arrangements here. I’ve lived here for nearly a year and have been eating here nearly everyday. The food is incredible and same with the Bistro staff. Mark Dinapoli especially deserves special recognition. One time during the school year, I came to the Bistro after it was already closed and he still made me dinner even as everyone was cleaning up and shutting down for the night. Now that’s excellent customer service! He was always very friendly and happy to cook for everyone. He began to learn everyone’s usual orders and would prepare it special every time. He made a killer pasta sauce that everyone loved. I will definitely be back for the food! All the Bistro staff was fantastic!

Been living here a couple of months a do have an opinion about the place. so here it goes:
Pros:
Friendly attentive staff– what ever you ask for gets done quickly (at the speed of light)
bistro has amazing food
cool cross fit gym
plush carpet, bathrooms have right amount of water pressure
room cleaning service
beautiful designs
Cons:
–you need your room key for EVERYTHING! it can get very frustrating if you just want to go to another floor level, your friends, the garage, bistro, everyTHANG!
–OVERPRICED you pay over $ 1200 for a small room that has no closet, no dressers, no full bathroom, no kitchen, barely any room for anything. I have stuff sitting in my car that i cannot even put in here.
— BISTRO!!! If they see you taking large amounts of food with you, they will come up to you and say you better not be sharing the food. (like wtf-​get out of my business)
you also cannot swipe your card more than once for each meal. You can find yourself starving until they open for the next meal. especially if you have to miss a meal because you’re in class. The bistro also closes too early, at 8pm. A lot of students around here take evening classes, and get home famished but the bistro is closed. it’d be better if it closed at 9:30−10pm so people coming from class can actually have something to eat.
–bistro also needs more food choices, the same thing can become mundane.
–expensive meal plans

1. Room size is like the dorms. It varies a bit because they have a variety of suites. There’s a 1-​bed, and a 2-​bed. You probably won’t have much extra space for anything extra. But, the rooms does come with all the furniture (bed, desk, chair, dresser, TV), so you don’t really need to bring much at all.
2. Price is high. ~800 for a double (utilities included) + parking (can be single/​tandem in their garage) + laundry (not just coins — the machines take credit cards!) + meal plan ~400 for «unlimited».
You definitely can get another place that’s much bigger, for much less price.
3. Location is very close (~5min walk) to SDSU, ARC, Aquaplex. You may hear loud parties at night, but that’s because you’re at SDSU…
4. There’s definitely not enough power outlets in the rooms for two people, so maybe invest in a couple long power strips. Closet space will suffice, but it could be bigger for girls. There are closets in the bathroom, under the sink, and that should be enough for storage.
5. Roommates — they have a Roommate Matching program and can match you with a person that you might get along with. I got lucky and got a great roommate :)
6. Safety — they have security guards at night.
7. Lighting — My room is in the corner of the building, so it gets good sunlight and lighting throughout the day. Maybe ask for a room with lots of windows if possible?
8. Amenities — they have a theatre, that you can rent out to watch movies/​play video games. There’s a jacuzzi, foosball table, pool table, and pingpong. There’s also a tanning salon, and a BBQ.
9. Food — they have a restaurant downstairs, where residents can buy Meal Plans. I think it ranges from 5 meals/​wk to «unlimited», which is what I have. Currently, the meal times are
— Monday — Friday: 0700 – 1000, 1130 – 1400, 1600 – 2000
— Saturday and Sunday: 1000 – 1400, 1600 – 2000
The weekend is a bit of an inconvenience, because I prefer to get up early and start my day… but I can’t eat breakfast until 10.
The food quality is good. They have a different menu everyday, but they also have a fixed menu that you can order everyday of the week. So, if you don’t like the menu of the day, you can just order whatever you want from the other menu.
10. The staff is all very nice and very willing to help out with anything you might need.
11. This place IS expensive, but I think it’s worth it because of the environment, and the people. Also, there’s a lot of Foreign Exchange students living here, so you get to meet tons of people from all over the world!

This is my first and last Unilocal review. It’s a nice place to live, the employees work hard and are personable. The food is really good, amenities are great (gym, hot tub, ping pong, pool, theater), and the residents are nice. I’ve made some good friends here. If you live here, you will enjoy it. The whole staff is great.
I’d like to give a shout out to Mark (chef), Dale (one of the owners), Sydney (office), Lee (operations guy), John (Lee’s partner), David (chef), and Christina (bistro employee). Thank you for putting up with me every day and being so nice.

Bistro is a very convenient place to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Solid choices of dishes and they mix up the menus very well. I would recommend it to anyone. The living situation is comfortable as a student at sdsu and they offer greats amenities such as: the weight room, ping pong tables, and a hot tub!

I am definitely a fan of the Suites on Paseo. The buildings are nice, new, kept very clean, and very close to campus. The food is delicious and the weekly menu maintains a lot of variety. The security measures around the facilities are reassuring, as well. Honestly, living here is a dream and all of the residents are super nice. My only gripes are the mail delay and underwhelming gym facilitates. Other than that, the Suites on Paseo are probably the nicest accommodations near campus.
Also, if you ever have a problem — with anything — contact Lee. Lee is my favorite employee here. He is always happy, chipper, and interested in the lives of those he oversees. He is really hardworking and an awesome face for the Suites on Paseo.

It’s a very good place to live. They have a nice restaurant and a courtyard. If you need some help, just you have to come to Lee. He is a perfect master, he can do whatever you want. I would say that all Paseo management is good. I would recommend this place to you.

Suites on Paseo is such a unique experience. Definitely made my stay in San Diego much more enjoyable. The people are great, the staff is super helpful and the food is SO GOOD! I would recommend this place to any student looking to get the most out of their college experience.

It is the worst place I have ever lived in, they offer meal plans and I have the unlimited one but the food basically sucks and its quality is very low not to mention that they have the same lunch every day which is burger, chicken breast, tuna, and veggie burger. I thought that I will be saving a lot of money because of the food but now I end up eating all my meals outside which costs me about 500 $ each month, there is no way to cook food there since there is no kitchen. This place is like the dorms and even worse because at least you have more food options there. Also, the rooms are very small and the internet which is included is very slow. My advice to you is to never live here because you can’t break your lease with them. I have been looking for over a month for someone to takeover my lease but no one is interested so I am stuck. Find a place where it is convenient, has some space, and has a kitchen. Take care!

I’m paying $ 1000 for small sharing room with a low-​quality food and the stuff are only friendly with girls for «men» or only friendly with buff or hot guys for «women» except Sydney she’s fine I guess that she’s the only person who talks to everybody and the new guy he idk he’s name but he says hey sometimes but over all it’s the worst place to live if you think you’ll sVe money and won’t be late on classes lol, one more thing about the gym it’s just a small room with a bunch press. I don’t recommend it

I continue to be very satisfied overall with my experience here at the Suites. The staff here are what makes it stand out — especially Mark in the bistro, Sydney in the office, Lee the maintenance guy who is always happy and saying hi, Dale one of the owner guys. People here care. The food is fantastic and everything is made from scratch. We’ve got a new Hot Tub which is nice, but it closes at 7PM which is a little too early. Basically, the hot tub is closed at the times anyone would actually want to use it. There have been a couple kinks but overall this is really a great place to live. And I’d agree with what another reviewer said — ask for a room with multiple windows. The natural daylight helps a lot. This place, other than room sizes + price, beats any other student apartment complex by a mile.
The only downside is price. The laundry is a bit expensive and the machines are set to use very little water so your clothes might not come out completely clean. By the time you add up the cost of a room, parking, meals, laundry, etc, it’s pretty expensive (I paid $ 1656 a month +$ 15 fee to use Visa for payment for the small room, parking, and 19 meals a week)., but you do get a lot of value.
Now that I’ve moved out, I’d like to add that I appreciate that they don’t screw you over on BS cleanup fees that a lot of student housing places charge. I had a few nail holes in my walls from paintings I had hung, and my carpet had a few small stains, which are things that I was charged a ridiculous amount for after moving out of another student housing complex — but not here. Truly appreciated, they are good people here :)
