If I could give this smash burger a zero I would. Thanks for the food poisoning guys! The whole house is sick because of your crap food. It’s a shame, this is the closest one and it’s so terrible. The one over by the Walmart off Areo drive is just amazing. Compared to that one this smash burger is like eating gas station food. The last time we went my food was so undercooked my burger was still mooing, my lettuce was bad, my boyfriend’s burger was charred. My smash fries were stale, coated in oil, and incredibly hard. And the haystack onions were so burnt there was a literal golf ball sized chunk of unidentified black grime, it looked like the oil hadn’t been changed in days. This time around, to start off our lovely experience the girl at the counter was flirting with my boyfriend right in front of me. I let it go, no need to cause a fuss over one dumb bitch. And i was really hoping the food would be better. Nope. I only got veggie frites and shared some haystack onions. The rest of the house hold had an assortment of burgers and sides. It was exceptionally greasy and had an off taste. Now every one of us has an upset stomach and vomiting. Considering this is the only meal we shared there is no question of what caused it. I was so excited when this one opened up. It such a let down every experience I’ve had has been awful. If I ever feel the urge to blow a ridiculous amount of money on fast food I’ll either suck it up and drive to the other one, or hit up five guys.

So gross. The people that work here are so damn rude. The food is served cold, shake was runny and did not resemble the chocolate flavor I had ordered. I will never be back.

Its a place near my house that has good food. Its NOT a place that has good customer service or worth the price. We did tonight what we have done many times. But tonight had a pretty bad experience. We ordered and went the few blocks home to eat. But when we got home we noticed the almost five dollar shakes we each got were about 80% full. That just didn’t seem right so we went back to ask what’s the deal. We waited in line to talk to the front counter person and as we did I watched the girl make 2 shakes. Each to the rim of the cup. When we got up there we asked is this normal that ours were only 75−80% full. She told us in a very matter of fact voice: «we got new cups, but you got the 8.5 oz that you were supposed to.» To which we asked so this is what it’s supposed to look like? I just watched you fill those ones to the rim. To which she then replied«well I can remake them but that’s how much you are supposed to get. I can make it with more milk so it’s soupy and not as good» At this point realizing she was going to do nothing to remedy our problem and inadvertently admitting the two shakes I watched her make were«not as good». We just left. This is sorta what broke the camels back. I don’t think we will ever go back. Which is a shame because the food is alright and it’s really close to our house. What a bummer that no one cares about the customer anymore. Actually maybe we will go back… When they only charge me 80% the price of a shake for 80% of a shake!

I had a really nice grilled chicken with truffle mushroom. The employee recommend getting the grilled chicken instead of the fried one and I’m glad I did! The chicken was cooked nicely. It went well with the truffle mushroom and Swiss cheese. With the sandwich I got the rosemary fries, which where toss in olive oil, garlic, and rosemary. Super oily and super crispy. They where friendly and our food arrive pretty quickly. Pretty good will be coming back here.

The burgers were good but not extraordinary. Nothing special in the avocado or sin city burgers(the sin city did have a fried egg). Again, they were good but nor great. We tried the salted caramel shake… Way too overwhelming. Too sweet and salty. Not drinkable. It needed more milk. The staff was friendly and courteous. Food was fast.

This place would’ve been a nice spot to go to every now and then. But after the experience I’ve had here, I’d really prefer not to give them any more business. The food would’ve been good, if it wasn’t poisoned by the bad service. When my husband and I walked in, it seemed as though they were already trying to close, but it was only 7pm. We walked up to the counter and immediately it seemed as though the girl behind the register was trying to establish that she didn’t like me. Then when I went to the restroom, I came out and the same girl and some guy from the crew were staring and laughing at me. As for the food, it seemed as though the burgers weren’t properly made, like they were missing seasoning or something. Not planning on going back to the location.

This place has plummeted. Service and food are way worse than when it opened. Dunno what happened but everything is off.

Food was great, I knew that from eating at other smashburgers so that’s why I chose here. However good the food was, I won’t come back though because 1. It took half an hour for two burgers and a side of fries and 2. While I was waiting for my girlfriend to use the bathroom, the waitress comes up and starts bussing the table, which I was about to do thinking that all smashburgers are self-bussing, and then she ask«what about my tip?» Which I think I mishear so I ask her what did she say and she asks«are you going to leave a tip?» And confused, I give her a dollar saying that was all I had in cash and she responds with«it’s better than nothing» then leaves. As I said above, I won’t be back here

Food was decent. Customer service was good. We asked to split a lettuce wrapped burger and it came out just as we asked and they even brought us an extra plate and plot it for us in the kitchen. Nicely done

Don’t believe the hype… … like I did so I was disappointed. So many people told me how good Smashburger was and I think that maybe they just haven’t had a decent burger in awhile. I went in there the other day and ordered a Buffalo Bleu Cheese burger and some Smash fries. I did like the fries. My burger came out pretty smashed though, hence smashburger right? However, I believe that smashing the burger like this was the reason my burger was super dry. The meat didn’t really have much flavor, probably from being so dry, and the only flavor I got was from the dry bleu cheese and buffalo/spicy sauce. Other than the fries, the only other thing I kinda liked about Smashburger was that they sold Sculpin. Besides that, I’d rather have In-n-Out and Five Guys. Side note: 1 $ sign is off. This place is definitely a 2 $$ sign.

I always come to eat because they give military discount :) One thing I would like is they should add more fries because sometime I get plenty then sometimes less but It’s ok. Love it so good!

Very disappointing experience… The women’s restroom was not maintained the soap dispenser was broken and no paper towels. We waited a really long time for 4 shakes which came in to go cups that were half full! 4.59 for a half cup of shake is ridiculous! Won’t be coming back anytime soon!

Great burgers. the most important thing of course. Whatever else is going on here, the burgers are on point. they have a nice variety of toppings. My personal fav is the classic smash with regular fries. They have vitamin water in the self serve drink station, which is a nice touch. Real ice cream shakes. Fries are good, but I have yet to get some that are really hot, in fact I’ve gotten cold and soggy fries a few times here. Smash fries are not worth it in my opinion, they are just regular fries with olive oil drizzled on them. There are a few areas for improvement. I hate the wire trays they serve the food in. The fries always fall out onto the table. I’m sure they are easier to clean, but I would prefer normal trays. Keeping the food off the table should be a priority. I can’t figure out what they are going for with the trash cans here. All of them have a six inch round opening on top, just small enough so you can’t dump your tray out. Do they expect me to use my hands to shove the garbage down there? Just what I want, a bunch of grease and ketchup on my fingers right before I walk out the door. I have taken to just leaving my tray laying around. Maybe that’s what they want customers to do? I’m confused. I can rarely find a clean table here. It my have something to do with the fact that there is usually only one person working the register, so they may not have time to clean up as often as they should. I hate going to a restaurant and seeing the remnants of the last persons meal on the table. Gross. I enjoy the food here, thus the 3 star rating. There are a few things I pointed out that could be better, but I keep coming back so I must like it.

I love the food at this location and other, but the service is slow and irritating! Orders are always wrong when they come out too. It’s like no body cares here. BTW, shakes aren’t worth the extra cost. They put the milk in milk shake.

Downgrading my review from three years ago because the service at this location has been on a death spiral for the past six months. I have been here twice(one Saturday at noon, the other Thursday night at 7) when ONEPERSON was working front of the house. That’s one person to take orders, deliver food, answer questions, make shakes — everything except cook. I think the guy who was working was the manager, and while I don’t begrudge him for having to do three different jobs, his staffing problems are not mine to fix. Coincidentally, I think the service degradation began just as a new franchise group took over this location and a few others in central SD. Regardless, this place needs to get its act together if it hopes to win back formerly-loyal customers like me.

I really, really like Smashburger… a LOT. I crave a good burger at least once a week or so and this is one of my go-to spots. I am a creature of habit and always order the same thing: the Classic SMASH with cheese. I love it. The hubby always gets the SPICYJALAPEÑOBAJA…(he says it is good) Between the two of us one of us gets the haystack onions, the other the Smash Fries and we share. I did try a shake once, and yes — it is truly«hand-spun» quite evident in the to die for taste. This particular location had good service, clean tables/chairs, and plenty of parking.

You can’t fool a fat man; Smashburger is awful. Smashburgers are skinny, greasy discs reminiscent of White Castle or Little Tavern burgers back East, without the flavor or low price. Pile on all the salad you like; wrap the meat in a fancy bun; have them served by nice, smiling, energetic kids; Smashburgers will still be fast food done badly, delivered at «artisan» prices. Ditto for Smashfries. These, I understand, are fried in a blend of transfat-free vegetable oil and beef tallow, then tossed in extra virgin olive oil, fresh rosemary and garlic before adding sea salt. None of which matters, because they’re still oily little shards of russet with a weird mouth-feel that grow cold unusually fast. Look, I’m all for hand-held junk food that delivers fat and salt straight to my heart. I know it’s bad for me, but it doesn’t have to taste bad, and I certainly don’t think it should be overpriced. If you want what I want, try In-N-Out… or Five Guys… or Buddies Burgers… or if you want exotic, Canada Steakburger. But please, don’t waste your time, money or hope on Smashburger. The food won’t kill you… it will just break your heart.
