Silver Sage Acupuncture

I developed a back problem a last Summer, after a combination of long flights and uncomfortable layovers. I didn’t improve much after 5 weeks of rest, icing and pill treatments. Walking was very difficult and exacerbated the pain in the groin area. I remembered a comment from a friend about Cheryl’s expertise in back pain, and decided to seek her out. The help I got was remarkable. After 4 treatments in a span of 2 weeks I went from barely making it from the parking lot to her office (100 ft) to feeling almost normal again. I was really impressed with her talent, knowledge experience, and bed side manners. You feel right away that she’s on your side. In addition to the acupuncture treatment she made several other worthwhile recommendation (stretching, core exercises, etc.). She is a phenomenal healer and I can’t praise her enough. I recommend her without any reservation.

I have been a patient of Cheryl’s for over ten years. I was referred to her by court reporter who Cheryl treated for carpal tunnel syndrome with great results. Cheryl has treated me over the years for various physical problems from injuries to my knees and feet to general aches and pains caused by over exertion. She has treated my hips, back and neck. She cured my UTI without antibiotics. Her suggestion for a supplement eliminated any further problems.
I referred my sister to her after she was in a car accident and Cheryl alleviated her knee symptoms so she didn’t need surgery.
Cheryl is a gifted acupuncturist who is always respectful of her patient’s time and schedule. I have never waited for a scheduled appointment. She has never failed to return phone calls regarding my questions or a need to change an appointment. When my need has been acute, she has returned my calls immediately and tried to fit me in.
Her nutritional counseling has been invaluable. I followed her suggestions and my acid reflux symptoms vanished years ago.
Additionally, she is one of the most ethical professionals I know. She does not push supplements. She does not overcharge. She is scrupulously honest.
Cheryl is a personable, caring and skillful professional who heals her patients.

I have been in her office waiting room on MANY occasions when Bradely was scheduled just before my appointment and he either never showed up or canceled and rescheduled at the last moment. I could see how frustrating it became to Cheryl after months of this nonsense, and if he showed up at all there was never an apology only lame excuses for his inconsiderate arrogant conduct. It appears that Cheryl needed to let him go so that She could continue to provide top quality service to her many faithful, loyal and RESPONSIBLE patients.

Cheryl has been my «primary care» person for over 20 years. I first found her when another acupuncturist I was seeing retired and I needed help with thyroid disease (Graves) that some of the best docs in San Diego weren’t helping (and they all wanted to remove). Cheryl healed it in about 3 months. Subsequently she has fixed and cured me of many ailments. Her pain relief for my back and ankle, her knowledge and use of supplements, AND her ability to suspect and diagnose the weird things (like parasites, lyme, and other stuff that traditional medicine struggles with) has also helped all my family and many many friends. I highly endorse giving Cheryl a chance if you are in pain, or are not getting enough help from your regular doc.

This review is LONG overdue! About 6 months ago, Cheryl quite literally may have saved my life.
After being put off by my primary care physician with a «cramp» and told to wait it out, I wound up at Cheryl’s office when I was in such pain that I could hardly walk.
This was my first time receiving acupuncture treatment, and she did an amazing job at helping me feel calm and comfortable while in her care. She let me know what to expect from each needle, and talked about exactly how each one would help.
After the treatment, she attempted to massage out my «cramp» and quickly realized that this was a serious blockage. On her recommendation, I went immediately to urgent care and was admitted to the hospital that night with a deep vein thrombosis and multiple pulmonary emboli. I shudder to think what may have happened if I had taken my doctor’s advice and «waited it out». Thank goodness for Cheryl!
I also have no doubt that Cheryl’s treatment made my hospital stay much more comfortable, as the herniated disc pain I had been experiencing for months had subsided.
I look forward to visiting Cheryl again, under better circumstances, and would recommend her to anyone who is in need of kind and patient treatment of any sort. She is truly a healer.

I have suffered from tennis elbow with varying degrees of pain over the last few years and tried everything from cortisone injections to physical therapy with only marginal results.
My chiropractor referred me to Cheryl Warnke. Initially, my treatments went well. In fact, I found Warnke to be friendly and personable, and my elbow pain vanished after just a few treatments. However, during my final appointment with Warnke, I experienced an unexplained sharp, burning pain in my left arm during the treatment where she had placed a needle, and later that day and for several days more my entire left arms was so painful that I could barely use it.
I attempted to reach Warnke by phone to seek out an explanation for my pain and left her several messages but she did not respond. When I finally reached her, Warnke strongly denied that her treatment was in any way connected to the lingering pain in my left arm.
Nevertheless, I decided to give Warnke another chance and I scheduled an appointment with her. However, due to a business meeting, the appointment needed to be rescheduled. I attempted to reach Warnke to reschedule and left her numerous messages but she did not respond.
When I finally reached Warnke over the phone, she told me that she «did not want to take on my case (anymore) because I had canceled and rescheduled some previous appointments and showed up late (occasionally) to other appointments». Warnke offered no other explanation nor did she apologize for not returning any of my previous phone calls.
I found Warnke’s excuse for discontinuing our treatment to be lame and her behavior to be unprofessional. If Warnke feared possible retribution through a malpractice law suit for causing nerve damage to my arm, hiding from me by not returning my phone calls rather than addressing the issue head on showed cowardice and poor judgement on her part.
Often a good measure of person’s character is to see how they respond in difficult situations and in this case, Warnke failed miserably.
If you are looking for a good acupuncturist who will stand by you even in difficult situations, you would be wise to consider looking elsewhere for a more reliable, straight forward, professional Acupuncturist.
By the way, it has been several weeks since my last treatment with Warnke and I am still experiencing pain in my left arm. I am also sad to report that all of the pain in my (tennis) elbow that Warnke eleaviated initially has returned full force, and what appeared to be a full healing as a result of my Accupuncture treatment actually only turned out to be a temporary fix.

Cheryl is a gifted healer and has helped nearly every member of my family with some type of injury or illness, including Graves Disease, TMJ, bronchitis, sinus problems, incontinence (for my elderly mom), and a variety of sports related or chronic injuries. And when I’m healthy, I often go in for a tune-​up, just to boost my energy and overall well being.
Cheryl is exceptionally professional — she’s never late or misses appointments — and her fees are reasonable and fair. She is constantly doing research and professional development — she is never afraid to tackle the toughest or most challenging situations.
Interestingly, she also has an excellent track record helping people quit smoking.
The office is right off 805 at Balboa and offers a very warm, comforting environment. There’s a lot of convenient free parking in the lot or on the side streets.
I highly recommend Cheryl both for her professional expertise and her kind, supportive treatment of her patients. She is exceptional in every way.

I have been a client of Cheryl’s for a few years. My work is physically demanding and my love of hiking takes a toll on my body. Whenever my muscles become knotted or I have overworked myself at work or play, I pay a visit or visits to Silver Sage Acupunture. My body has responded to acupunture very well.
