If you have a family to feed or have guests over then this is more gourmet than pizza. Just get the BBQ Pork to go with rice. A pound of this stuff can feed 3 – 4 and it’s quite tasty. I usually don’t eat here and usually get take out.

I keep on coming here because it’s the best roasted pork and bbq pork in town. I come here to eat with coworkers for lunch pretty often. It’s great if you want something quick. I would recommend coming here at around 3pm, that’s when the fresh cooked meats come out. Meat quality: excellent Eating in: fair Service: attentive Prices: reasonable Giving it 5 stars so it can stay in town!

I went here for the first time in a few years and it’s gone way downhill. I ordered roast pork, roast duck and rice. The roast duck was OK to good, but the roast pork was so bland that for the first time in my life, I added salt to it. The rice was what was shocking. Most of it was dry and had little flavor. I had to add soy sauce. Good, fresh rice never needs to have flavor added, especially when you’re eating it with Chinese barbecue. Huge disappointment.

CASHONLY!!! Their cha siu and roast pork are both really yummy! Flavor is great, but the roast pork skin was not crispy anymore! :(The sauce is good and not dry at all!!! The lady is nice! My problem with them though… they always close earlier! I have been there a couple times and they were never opened! :(I finally got them today! :DDD

It’s prounounced Sue Sue, which is a bit of a play on words… Siu Mei means roast meat in Cantonese… but yelling«Suwee Suwee» in the U.S. South is a way of «hog calling». When I get my Chinese bbq pork jones, I eat here. The sister of the woman who owns Watami Sushi by my house owns this place… Korean women own a Japanese sushi restaurant and a Chinese BBQ restaurant which cracks me up from a historical perspective. You either get that or you don’t. I never eat at the restaurant, I pick out my pork and take it home to de-fat and slice on the diagonal while it is warm, and then chill it and eat with Chinese mustard that I mix from powder and black sesame seeds, while enjoying a single malt whisky. It reminds me of Hong Kong, and is the best Chinese BBQ pork I have had in San Diego. Yes, cash only… staff can be persnickity, but they are genuine… parking is easy, there are many spaces unless you are there M-F at the dead of lunchtime. 2:00 pm is winner, winner, chicken(or duck, lol) dinner! Will update with pics next time I go.

Roast duck perfection! I came here to get the half duck to go… I made sure to tell the guy that I do not want the head ewe. PROS: Seriously the best roast duck I’ve ever had. Fresh fresh fresh! Plenty of nice parking. CONS: No sweet sauce(like they give you at dim sum… I love that stuff). They did give a salty sauce that was ugly and tasted like Chinese 5 spice… good, but the duck doesn’t need it at all.(note to self: buy some sweet duck sauce at 99 Ranch). The place is a dump! I would never ever EVER eat in a place that looks like this. The meat prep place was fine, but I’d never eat there or use their restroom. So I parked under a tree and enjoyed my yummy duck! p. s. I would have give 5 stars if they gave me yummy sweet sauce and/or the place looked better.

This is my second time here visiting San Diego. I have to say their Roast Duck and Roast Pork is a solid 5! It’s not a fancy place, more like a whole in the wall that holds about 30 people max. The skin of the roast duck was not just tasty but as you take a big bite of of the drumstick all together you get a satisfaction of oily juicy tender meat of the duck. The roast pork on the other hand, has combined the crunchiness and the soft moisture texture. Put those two together and end it with a bowl of hot dumpling soup.

I was told before visiting this spot that it was worth way more than its current rating, and that turned out to be quite true. A group of Unilocalers met up for a UYE and passed a pleasantly slow-paced lunch, stuffing ourselves with all sorts of crispy roast goodness. Personally I ate the roast pork and duck, which came with plenty of rice and gravy, plus a side of crunchy steamed veg. Both meats were super tasty, with good crispy skin, and the portions were so big that I didn’t eat for the rest of the day. All for about $ 15 — top value! The restaurant accommodated our reasonably large group with no complaints, even though we had people coming and going at different times, the service was pretty snappy and they were fine with us all paying separately. Simple surroundings and tasty filling food. I’ll be back!

I came here for lunch with a groups of friends. Everyone ordered a variety of items, but I stuck with the Chow Fun because I prefer wide noodles when it comes to Chinese Noodles, and given they are popular for their BBQ Pork, I ordered some with the noodles, including a stir fry of vegetables stirred in with the noodles. The flat noodles were great. They that nice elastically texture and a mild smokiness brought on by the wok preparation. The vegetables, especially the tender pieces of bok choy were not only perfectly cooked, but nicely seasoned as well. The BBQ pork had a unique flavor and color. It was savory of course, but it also had a mild sweet after tasted which I can not explain, only that I enjoyed it. The pork also was very tender and not to fatty. I appreciated the generous amount of meat the piece had relative to fat. The crew who run this small Asian BBQ place are very nice and demonstrate a reserved personalities. One thing I learned, is that I am going to try more Asian BBQ. Oh yes, the place is cash only!

Sieu Sieu BBQ came recommended by a fellow friend Unilocaler and he decided to host a UYE here. I myself am not much of an expert on good Chinese cuisine, but today I was going to be given a look at some good grub. When you first walk into this place you’ll notice the ducks hanging up front ready to go already seasoned, this place takes BBQ roasted duck pretty serious. Sieu will look like a hole in the wall when you enter, but don’t let that discourage you, the food here has fantastic taste. I decided on a #7 Combo plate( ) which gives you a taste of two proteins, their BBQ roast duck and pork. The service wasn’t very quick, the orders came out slowly as some people at the table received their food before others. The plate came out with some rice with a bit of duck juice on it along with a few pickled vegetables on the side. The pickled vegetables were a bit strong for my taste, a bit too over vinegary for my taste buds. The roast duck was perfectly cooked with an amazing crispy skin on the outside. Oh that duck was delicious stuff, I haven’t really experienced a good roast duck like that in a long time. It was too bad they didn’t include more on the plate! The pork was my least favorite on the plate, almost too tough for my liking. The steamed rice was cooked well and tasted great with the little drizzle of meat juice on it. Sieu Sieu definitely makes really good crispy duck and if I ever come back I would go for the BBQ duck only. The pork didn’t hit the spot for me, so that was the only let down in the food department for me. For some odd reason I wasn’t doing really good with the chopsticks on the pork, I’m usually pretty good at using them but eating the pork with them was a challenge for me. I think maybe because it was a bit too tough. Chinese food isn’t among my favorite cuisines, but Sieu Sieu made a good impression of it on me. Usually I don’t care for the sauces they use, but this place has excellent seasoning on their food. Kudos to Omar for hosting the event here, glad I was able to give Sieu a try.

BBQ is on the sign — BBQ is what I went to try. My first time at Sieu Sieu BBQ Noodle House was a delight. Generous portions and very reasonably priced, Sieu Sieu’s BBQ Pork is now in my taste bud lexicon. More on its deliciousness later, but what you should know, dear reader, is that I’m already craving more today! The restaurant looked simple, clean, with whole roasted duck displayed in a warmer near the entrance. Beautiful and golden brown, my plan was to try the duck as well. Water is served chilled in non-uniform shaped Tupperware-like covered carafes. I appreciated that Sieu Sieu used something other than Styrofoam cups — more eco friendly. Noodle is in the name of the restaurant and noodles are what I ordered — BBQ Pork Lo Mein, #29. Beautifully presented with baby bok choy, I loved it! The skin had the slightest crunch and sweet taste, which led to juicy, tender, succulent meat inside. Wow! And the noodles were perfectly cooked — al dente. SOGOOD! Shout out to Omar, for organizing this — you know your delicious food, Omar! It was a pleasure to finally meet you and also the Godfather, Jack, and my friend Joseph face to face. And I met new friends Mat, Chang, Isabella, and Mari and her husband, all charming and gracious! Parking was easy, the strip mall has a private lot but remember, I was there on a Saturday. Cash is accepted.

Sieu Sieu BBQ was my first foray into Chinese BBQ that isn’t char siu. Shame on me for not discovering the perks of a *good* roasted duck and Chinese-style roasted pork. It was only due to the luck of a fellow Unilocaler, his review and subsequent follow-up visit with his friends that I discovered this tiny restaurant along a strip mall on Kearney Mesa. The restaurant is reminiscent of many of the Chinese restaurants that I see along SF and Oakland Chinatowns. A major perk is that seating consists of only simple tables and chairs, not booths that have their stuffing exposed(a major pet peeve of mine). Tables themselves are clean. Because of its cleanliness I feel comfortable eating here with friends or taking to-go orders. Another major perk is that entrees are organized so that you can either order individual portions(the BBQ rice bowls) or order traditional family-style. Though our group opted to do individual portions my next visit I’ll definitely want to do family-style. On my visit I got the #7, roasted pork and roasted duck with rice and pickled vegetables. For $ 8ish portion size was big enough for 2 meals. — It was interesting to try the roasted pork. For Filipinos used to lechon, the skin is thinner, less fatty and more crispy than lechon(which I prefer). The pork meat is a little dry and is meant to be dunked with a sauce. While eating leftovers I noticed that half soy sauce/half vinegar does the trick — it moistens the meat and the tartiness makes it taste less salty. — Unlike the roasted pork, the roasted duck was good by itself. Skin broke easily upon biting. There was enough juice in the duck leg to keep the meat moist, though the juice was unevenly distributed and some duck pieces were a tad dry. — Rice was slightly dry and sticky(my preference, you don’t want to eat this with moist rice). Being Asian, my rice was good enough as is and didn’t need any more pork or duck juice. — Pickled vegetables served as a palate cleanser to take away the grease of the meats. PROTIP: A sign of an authentic Chinese BBQ joint is that the animal is served whole — meat and *bone*. A good exercise is to see how much you can pick a roasted duck clean and remove the bone with your chopstick. It’s harder than it sounds. Leftover portion had enough rice and meat to call it a meal. I look forward to my next meal here — next to tackle are the char siu pork and noodle dishes.

I took a bath in the red rice vinegar, it was that good. I poured it on my rice. I’m not a fan of duck, but my friend said I must try the Roasted Duck & Roasted Pork with rice for around $ 8. Gotta admit the duck had interesting spices which complimented the gamey flavor of duck. The duck is hard to eat, since they serve it with the skin and bones and fat, and I tried to detach the duck with chop sticks. Hmmm finally a friend pointed out the forks in center of table! I had a great time chatting with my adventurous Unilocal friends. The service was good, and they took my order promptly even though I arrived an hour after my friends. My food was warm and not hot, but I’m not familiar with the customary temperature for serving Chinese BBQ. I tasted the noodles that came with my husband’s Roasted Duck, and enjoyed those tasty noodles. The noodles were warm, and not hot. Sieu Sieu is pretty good. I would have preferred my food to be a little hotter. It would be nice if the bathroom was cleaner.

Come here ducky, ducky… You know you are hitting up an authentic Chinese joint when they give you the WHOLE duck, even the head, and I’m not complaining. Unlike most people I am not carcass shy at all, the sweetest part of the meat is always close to the bone. For $ 20 you get the whole thing and that’s pretty amazing. Crunchy on the outside, fatty and juicy on the inside, I’m going to have leftovers for days. Went with a bunch of friends and the review was positive all around. Portions were very generous and honestly this was the most authentic Chinese restaurant I’ve been to in SD. Glad I gave it a try.

I’ve been buying Chinese BBQ at Tom’s for years, with an occasional stop at Sam Woo when I’m shopping at 99 Ranch Market, and I didn’t hear about Sieu Sieu until this week, when the lady who was cutting my hair told me about it. I left her shop and drove straight over, arriving for lunch at 11:15. Good thing; by 11:45, the place was full and the line was 10 deep. Don’t be misled by the three-star rating. Sieu Sieu BBQ offers juicy roast pork with skin as crispy as those kettle-cooked potato chips, succulent roast duck, tender char siu and light, fragrant broth bathing plenty of hand-formed wontons and dumplings. Sieu Sieu BBQ fills up fast, but there’s plenty of food for everyone, so line up, pay up and chow down on the best Chinese BBQ around. Bring an appetite, and cash. ***************************************** Tom’s Chinese BBQ: Sam Woo: 99 Ranch Market:

This place has the worst service. My friend and I went in around 2 pm and the place was empty. Our gut feeling was to go somewhere else, but I insisted that we gave it a chance. We went in and the smell was so strong so I asked if we could open the door and the waiter was, «I was told to keep it closed.» He didn’t even try to accommodate. Anyway, I ordered pork over rice and my friend ordered duck over rice. Our meat was cold, bland and simply disgusting. The pork skin was soggy. No sauce or gravy or veggies at all. They were literally just pork and rice or duck and rice. The plastic cups were dirty so my friend asked for new ones and the woman was, «we don’t have plastic cups» and gave him two other dirty cups before saying something bad about us in Chinese to the male waiter. Even if we didn’t understand it, but we could feel it. How rude! We couldn’t even force ourselves to finish the food. We were also afraid to drink the water there. The plastic cups, plates, utensils were dirty. Made us lose appetite. We hope we don’t get food poisoning. We will NEVER go back.

Sieu Sieu is not a huge restaurant and keep in mind that it’s CASHONLY. There’s a WFBATM in the parking lot. I see them as a competitor to Sam Woo’s bbq deli for the roast meats. And we all know how Sam Woo’s service isn’t the friendliest or kindest The place was empty when I visited for lunch some time ago. They have a warming station that had the bbq pork, duck fat drippings, intestines. They also have two types of roast ducks. I have never tried that splayed out roast duck before. The woman explained in Chinese that it’s roast duck but has less fat content because the duck is opened up(allowing more fat to cook out). I ordered: WONTONDUMPLINGSOUP $ 5.95 I told the woman I could not decide between the wonton and the dumpling soup. She said they could do half dumpling/half wonton for me. The shrimp wontons were fat and plump. The dumplings were ok but I only remember the woodear mushrooms in them. The broth was a bit bland and I did prefer the Special Wonton soup(broth) at Sam Woo over this one. COMBINATIONCHOWFUN $ 7.95 There’s a variety of noodles you can choose for this noodle dish. When I crave noodles, I always dream about the big fat wide ones. You can choose from spaghetti noodles(her words — I think spaghetti means their chow mein) and even rice vermicelli. I felt this dish was bland and very under seasoned. The proteins(beef, chicken, shrimp) tasted pretty plain. ROASTEDPORKRUCKOVERRICE $ 7.95 They served this in a to go box for me because they didn’t believe one person could eat all the dishes I had ordered. Um, thank you? The star of this dish was the ROASTPORK. Holy cow(or should we say holy pig) was it good. I’ve been disappointed with roast pork at Sam Woo and other places because the pork skin always ends up being leathery and unpleasant to eat. But people, the pork skin on the roast pork was heavenly here. The pork flesh was moist and juicy as well. SIEUSIEUBBQPORK $ 9.50/lb The woman let me pick the piece of bbq pork I wanted. That’s another difference between here and Sam Woo. The workers here don’t give you the ‘evil eye’ if you ask for certain things. I was too stuffed to try the pork when I got home. I think sis said the bbq pork was quite good. SIEUSIEUHALFROASTDUCK $ 10.00 This was also a to go item for sis and she enjoyed the duck. Another FU over Sam Woo is the woman here gave me plenty of sauce and didn’t make me feel like a jerk when I asked for a bit more(little nephews love the sweet red liquid sauce for the bbq pork). Overall a great place to check our their roast duck and roast pork

OK so 4-Stars for take out but 1-Star for eating in. The Roasted pork and roasted duck are keeping this place in business. Both are absolutely delicious and if you call ahead it’s fast and friendly. If you eat there for lunch be prepared for some slow footed service with a menu that can randomly be out of key ingredients. Also super-confusing is an old Hawaiian food menu still showing inside from what I can assume was the previous business. Now I’m normally a food-rules-all kind of guy and I’m not big on having to have a great Ambiance, but there was a dead bug on the floor and it was a million degrees outside and they weren’t running the AC. I mean this place roasts meats inside, what are you thinking? Between that and the fact they were out of what I wanted to order I won’t go back there again for lunch. They’ll probably still get plenty of business from my family though because there aren’t many great options for the quality of pork/duck you’ll find here.

Got excited that there was an asian bbq pork/duck joint near my work. I’ve always passed by this place but was never interested enough to check it out. So i checked out the photos and reviews on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. SETTING: Next door to 99 Ranch. In the same plaza as Carls Jr. Plentiful of parking spaces. They have a display case with roasted duck, bbq duck, and salted chicken. Separate display case with pork blood, intestines, bbq pork, etc. Plenty of tables and chairs if you wanted to dine it. Does not get busy at all. FOOD: Roasted Pork and Roasted Duck on Rice $ 7.95 (Com Xa Xiu & Vit Quay) This combo dish is served with white rice and pickled vegeables(cabbage/carrots). I have had some amazing bbq before and this place does not cut it. The skin on the duck meat was soggy. Both meats seemed to have been old or sitting out for awhile even though I ordered this during lunch around 12:30pm. It also had a light salty flavor that was bland. The rice was hard and disgusting. It also tasted like old rice thats been sitting over a few days that turns hard and tough. Nothing like steamed rice should be. I don’t think I’ll be ordering from here again. I would prefer 99 Ranch next door or Tom’s Chinese BBQ in city heights. No wonder this place is so empty. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - For those of you curious, since there is no menu provided online, here is a brief menu for you to get an idea of whats available: BBQ Rice Bowls(pork, duck, or chicken) $ 6.95-$ 7.95 Fried Rice(bbq pork, seafood, shrimp, or beef) $ 7.95 Chow Mein(bbq pork, seafood, combination, chicken, or beef) $ 7.95 Chow Fun(beef, pork, seafood, combination, or shrimp, etc.) $ 7.95 Noodle Soup(wonton, dumplings, duck, bbq pork, etc.) $ 5.95-$ 6.95 Whole Roast Duck $ 17.99 /Half $ 10 Whole BBQ Duck $ 18.99 /Half $ 11 Roast Pork $ 9.90/lb Salted Chicken $ 14.99 Each Pork Blood $ 3.85/lb Intestine/Stomach $ 5.85/lb Hope that helps !
