I love this coin shop. Chad (owner) always has a very large selection on display. He has tons more that isn’t on display and depending on if it is busy or not, is more than willing to show you anything that he has from the back.
I like the large world coin selection that he has, and also the very significant ancient coins selection. Prices range from just a few dollars all the way to spectacular examples which cost a pretty penny.
His collection of American coins is probably the best I have seen in any coin shop around. Many slabbed/​graded coins available.
There is also a great selection of paper money too. Of all the shops in San Diego area this is the one to go to.

Professional environment with friendly, fair & knowledgeable staff. We appraised and sold inherited coin collections on two separate occasions, and were very pleased both times. Tip: have your coins separated into denomination/​type for a quick appraisal. Ziploc bags work!
It’s amazing how quickly they can appraise a collection, as each staff member has significant coin appraisal experience. Big bags of coins took minutes to assess and appraise, so this can be done while you wait. Some coins are «face value» only (no collector value), and others with collector value they’ll quote a fair price if you wish to sell.
I also appreciated the «no pressure» environment. I had to confirm the offer was okay with another party, and after not reaching him by phone while at the store I had to leave without making a decision. The appraiser kindly put my coins back in their packages, and put everything into a big ziploc bag with the quote written on the side. I returned the next day after getting the green light and another person helped me sell the coins at the previous appraisal, no problem!
The store also has beautiful collector coins for sale in glass displays. Many people were there collecting for themselves or buying gifts, so you can buy and sell coins here. I always worry about getting a fair deal when selling something, and this place delivered — twice! They provide honest advice and will help you, too. Highly recommend San Diego Coin & Bullion!

I was tasked with disposing of more than 100 pounds of coins by a relative. I went to San Diego Coin & Bullion and discussed the problem with Chad Martin. Mr. Martin gave me some advice as to how to sort the coins and which ones were valuable. He was very straightforward as to how prices are established and he very patiently took care of all of the silver I had. His prices were very fair. I am not a coin collector, but if I was this is the place I would go. It was a pleasure doing business with Mr. Martin and I would recommend him to anyone who collects coins or needs to sell silver coins.

I’ve been coming to this place for the past two years. Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly once you get to know them. Sometimes they are a little standoffish but they are eager to help you. The prices are not bad. They’re slightly over spot. They have a have a nice selection of coins to choose from. I’m more of a silver collector so that’s what I gravitate to. The only negative thing I can say is their hours. Other than that they’re in a good location and there is usually very little wait. It’s a good place to go to if you want to supplement your retirement or coin collecting. Also I wish they took credit card. They don’t so bring cash.

Today was my first visit, and immediately, I was struck by how CLEAN and neat everything is; then a woman immediately got up and greeted me and directed me to a gentlemen who looked over the currency and coins, and gave me honest reviews. (I apologize for not remembering your name.) I’ve been to other shops and they just were not that clean and inviting. Thank you again.

I go here a lot, the hours are convenient (9 – 5 m-​f), and they are open from about 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, which is nice for people who work during the week.
Parking lot is on the larger side of things. and even though this is a busy business mall, have never had a problem finding a space to park.
The staff, including Chad, one of the owners, has always been courteous and honest.
The grading is very consistent, and they take the time to answer questions IF the store isn’t packed full, which it is sometimes. Comparing prices online, they are extremely fair in pricing, but that is not always consistent. An educated consumer would be most happy purchasing here.
I wish they carried a greater selection of AirTite coin capsules… have had to order direct from mfg… realizing that this is not a hugely profitable item.
All things being equal, San Diego Coin & Bullion gets most of my business, unless I am considering coins in the more expensive (over $ 100.00) realm, and that is only because I don’t care to pay 8% sales tax for a collectible… that isn’t their fault.

I came in a novice and left a few minutes later with lots of pertinent information. This was all due to Tom’s expertise and overall helpful demeanor. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking to go to a coin dealer who is honest and straightforward.

Got pretty into collecting coins for a while and this was by far my favorite store in San Diego. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, honest and friendly. Not only did they have every coin I ever asked about they had them in varying grades depending on how much or how little you wanted to spend. They way they grade their coins is honest and accurate. My only complaint about this place is I always spend a fortune when I’m there but always leave feeling like I got a great deal.

The lady whom I normally see here is extremely polite and was very nice to my young son who loves coins. So customer service is a 5.
Hours of operation are worse than banker’s hours. Ive been here on occasion inside store hours and they were already closed. One down side of mom and pop operations.
Prices are ok. Slighty higher over spot against Liberty Metals in La Jolla, my other go to stop.
Due to the hours though looks like Im going to do my shopping there or online.

Nice store, plenty of parking, service was good, and the selection was good! I picked up 5 ounces of silver, and one mint set of silver coins!
The store was clean and the coins were nicely displayed. They didn’t have the exact shape of silver I wanted, but I got my silver!

Great place here, it’s a small compact building but they make the most out of it.
I brought in over 200 coins and the man working looked over them pretty quickly & answered all my questions.
I also felt very safe inside as the man working was open carrying a sidearm, God bless him it probably took him 10 years to get that privilege in this state.

I recently sold a rather large collection of old coins to San Diego Coin and Bullion. Chad Martin, the owner of this establishment is absolutely great to work with. He is personable, knowledgeable and most important of all, he is unbelievably honest! I came in on two occasions to sell my coins (as there were quite a few). The first time I came in, I showed him what I thought were 9 silver bars. He looked them over and informed me that they were actually platinum — and worth 8 times what I thought they were worth! This man is so honest, he makes you feel very, very comfortable in doing business! I will refer all my friends and colleagues to Chad to both buy and sell coins!
Chad understands the meaning of service and integrity, in a way few business owners do! Selling to him was a great experience!

I needed some quick cash. (Damn taxes) So I brought in some gold and silver. I quickly received a fair quote, and was out the door with my check within 20 minutes.
