The food was good, but the service was a little lacking. Today the service was 100x better!

i ate here, as i was visiting my friend that was staying at the western hotel adjacent to the restaurant it had the 70’s feel to it, just slow paced vibe, and the music that was played was also soothing despite the slow paced vibe, there is nothing slow about the service, food was ready surprisingly quick, and the service was also very friendly, and that alone deserved a good review by itself im a simple man with simple tastes, and thats what great anout the place, its simple, sandwiches, steaks, salads, and some chicken, not a five star menu, but i came to eat, not to stare at fancy menus LONGSTORYSHORT i ate, and left sastified

We stayed at the adjacent Best Western Seven Seas motel which is the subject of a separate review. This place is nothing remarkable — a typical greasy spoon joined to an old motel. It’s tired looking. The food is pretty good. The service was fair. We only went because it was convenient and an easy walk from our room. I wouldn’t return here when there are so many other wonderful and inviting other spots for breakfast in San Diego.

The café at this hotel is the only redeeming feature of this place. The bar is nice and so is the café. The motel is a filthy«ROACHHOTEL». Be warned.

The Morning Staff at the café is great Mira(pronounced Me-Da), has a very upbeat personality and a down home spirit. She kept me laughing the whole time with stories and jokes. I only had coffee. It was good for a morning cup, but since I’m a «real» coffee drinker I needed it «stronger» but it was cool. I also came the night before and had some wings that were off the chain good. Being from Down south this place made me feel just right. Very good review.

Excellent fruit bowl breakfast. I was so tired of carb heavy conference food, so getting a giant bowl of fruit was perfect. I’ll happily come back here next year!

Disappointment on a plate. The sad thing is that my dining partner and I remembered eating here several years ago and were VERY delighted. The food and the service were great. It’s kind of a hole in the wall, tucked away at the Best Western Seven Seas, on Hotel Circle in San Diego. Having remembered, vaguely, our previous experience, we thought we’d give it another try. Upon entering, my dining partner and I waiting for a long time for someone to help us/seat us. We were just about to leave when the server came into the café and seated us. That didn’t start out well. The food was meh. The lettuce on my sandwich was wilted and darkened in some areas(clearly going bad) and my tomato was awful, so I removed it. The pickles have to be the lowest end pickles available. I ordered my sandwich on sourdough, but got white. I could go on and on. But, suffice it to say, I won’t be back. It’ll do in a pinch, though.

I was impressed by the freshness and taste. We ordered the Chicken Vegetable soup that was made differently than what I am use to but tasted very good. Next we had their Chicken Fajitas, the Chicken was moist and tasty the vegetables were cooked to peak perfection. The waiter was very nice.

Better than Denny’s! Seriously! I had the low fat breakfast burrito. Never had such a big one. Service was super fast. I can’t eat pineapples so they made me a watermelon bowl. Sweet!

I was not in the mood to sit around the house or cook something with the extreme heat so headed out and ended up here. I have passed it a number of times. I ended up with the prime rib dinner. It was pretty good. It was decent cooked to order. Vegetables were a little over cooked but not to bad, The prime rib was average. Nothing spectacular. A little pricey but not bad. They do have an extensive menu for a small restaurant tucked away among the hotels in Mission Valley.

I’ve eaten here a couple of times and I’ve never been disappointed. I had a patty melt a couple days ago and OMG! I don’t know if it was because I was hungry or what but I inhaled it. They give generous portions and the prices are fair. The staff is always courteous and the service was fast. You can’t ask for more than that a hotel café.

Our waiter was awesome! He chatted with us about our trip and was super friendly. The food was tasty(we really liked the corn chowder and they do not skimp on the bacon on the but!) and huge portions! We are pretty likely to return here before we check out in 2 days!

Breakfast consisting of the Western Skillet was tasty but not crispy enough. It is moderate in price.

Acceptable place for breakfast, but nothing to write home about. Rather pricey but what do you expect? It’s a hotel & they are holding you hostage if you want a meal onsite. The first time I ate here, in Feb 2013, my vegetarian breakfast had some hunks of meat in it — they apparently do not make much effort to clean the grill or their utensils. The meal I ate a few days ago was better, but still fairly bland, although they do have hot sauce on every table, which makes up for the lousy salsa. The fruit salad was almost entirely melons, which is never a good sign. Nothing on the lunch or dinner menu interests us, so I can’t comment on the quality. If I could give half stars this would be 2 ½; I’ll give it 3 because I obviously thought it was good enough to try again for breakfast.

This is just a small dive café right next to the Best Western. Thought we would have a quick meal before our road trip. We shared powder sugar dusted french toast apple fritters and a bowl of seasonal fruit. This is the first time we had applefritter french toast and this stuff was great. Dipped in their special batter made the fritters soft with a subtle chewey texture to it. Really good. It went great with the fruit bowl too. Definitely will be back here on the rebound.

Not a bad place. Service was friendly although there was only one person handling it. As others have already mentioned, the café décor is outdated and worn. I came here because I checked in to the hotel and it is attached to it so it was out of convenience. My food came out pretty fast, about 10 – 15 minutes. I ordered the blackened halibut with rice and steamed veggies. The garlic bread is not included, you have to order that as a side item. The fish was a little dry and more poached than blackened, but had good flavor nonetheless. Rice and steamed veggies were all cooked well and had great flavor. The garlic bread was okay. I would not order that as an extra item next time. The meal also comes with a small salad or soup as a starter. I got the salad, which was fine– the best part was the raspberry vinaigrette. Overall a satisfying meal and good service. I do agree with the other reviews that it is a little pricey. I received a 15% discount to the café when I checked in to the hotel on Unilocal, and with the discount the meal came out to $ 23 and change including tip.

Although it was attached to the Best Western hotel, at least this place had excellent service and a product worth paying for. The food was really good, and although a little pricey, the service and wait staff made it worth it. We ate here several times over a couple of days stay at the hotel and tried everything from breakfast and lunch, to dinner and desserts. Everything was tasty and well prepared. The décor is a little dates as it the hotel décor, but it in the grand scheme of things not horrible.

Went here because we were hungry and just checked into the Best Western Seven Seas where it’s located. The place reminds me of an old diner. The menu clearly hasn’t been updated in 20 years. The prices for their food is ridiculous. I got a burger for $ 12 while my boyfriend got some dry-ass tuna wrap with 3 pieces of sliced tomatoes for $ 15! DONOTCOMEHERE unless you don’t like money. Otherwise, spend more money and eat mediocre food.
