Scripps Ranch KinderCare

This is our second daycare center as the first one didn’t work out. The location is very convenient for us.
I enjoy the relationships I’ve built with the teachers and directors. It is great knowing what your child is learning each day! The rooms are nice and spacious — filled with various activities for the kids. I like that the kids are taught to clean up the toys before snack/​meals. I feel safe with my kids being there and again, I enjoy that I am able to have a conversation with any given teacher in the room about my kids.

This was one of the worst places you can put your child. Being a former employee and parent of my kids that went here, I was very disappointed with the lack of professionalism and respect. The employees in the infant room are very caddy and rude. The babies are always on the floor crying and never held. The ratios are very very high which it makes it hard to teach one on one with the children. The food may be healthy but very disgusting and not appetizing. And the same thing is served everyday. It’s all processed food and not real fruits or veges.
I don’t recommend working here or placing your child here at all. This company is very greedy. They only care about the money and not the actual well being of the children. Very sad.

Great for our little one. We have two girls the youngest being 20 months old at this point. We had her in a different daycare (that was cheaper) but you get what you pay for. This might be a bit pricier but it is clean, organized and the teachers are great with the little ones. I can only speak about the toddler room but after 6 months so far so good. Our little one comes home clean (that is key) even after outdoor activities since there is no sand or dirt outside, so is happy and fed. They do a good amount of indoor and outdoor activities for the kids and the inside classroom is set up with lots of little stations. Lots of great things to say about this place, although they still use more «baby talk» than I care for, I understand since majority of parents abbreviate things and make up words for different object. So in all, if that is my only minor complaint it still gets 5 stars from our family.

This location isn’t convenient for me so I will not be bringing my kiddo and know nothing about this place. I’m reviewing only because I think one of the reviewers’ review is very unfair and unreasonable. She may not realize that all day cares (at least those i have visited/​considered) have strict late pick up rule. Employees there get paid peanuts and shouldn’t be expected to volunteer their time. Also, they may have their own kids to pick up and their time should be respected. To avoid that reviewer’s dilemma, we put our little one in a place by our workplace (Downtown too), instead of near home. That’s what she should consider doing, instead of blasting a place with one star and turning off people, who might otherwise consider …

This review is based on a tour of the infant and toddler room only.
This Kindercare took over what used to be Children’s World waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day. I showed up early for my tour so had to wait a few minutes before I met with the Director. Ms. Brittni was very nice. She seems young (but I don’t hold that against her because my sister works in the child education field and was a Director herself once out of college.)
The facility is nice and new. I believe they remodeled the whole building. The infant room was large, bright, and very open. Everything was clean and organized. The one thing I did notice that I’ve seen in a lot of infant rooms is the floor is tiled with not much carpeted space for the infants to spread out so that might be one thing I’d hold against them — more carpeted soft space for the infants to crawl on, please!
One of the infants was quietly sleeping, one was being fed, one was hanging out and another one (one that could crawl) was playing with some toys. There was music playing which was nice. I met with Ms. Vanessa who was friendly and answered some of my basic questions.
After a quick look around the infant room, I asked to see the toddler room which was another nice space. The kids were all in a corner with a teacher doing some kind of activity and another teacher was picking up toys.
Tuition for infants is the same as the Penasquitos KC and its a newer, «prettier» center. The staff was very nice here but I ended up choosing the PQ Kindercare for our infant son. Turns out I know one of the infant teachers at the PQ Kindercare (found out at our tour!) and having an infant, its hard enough to leave him with anyone, so it really put my mind at ease to place him there (on top of meeting the rest of the staff there which are so nice and caring.)
I’m a fan of this Kindercare :).

I have been with KinderCare Learning centers for 3 years. This location for about 3 – 4 months. I’ve never experienced such poor customer service, lack of accommodation or understanding. Since this Fall they have applied this «No grace period» after closing. (6:30 pm) If you walk into the facility at 6:31 –6:45pm you are charged a $ 15 penalty fee. Unfortunately, I am a single mother, who works Downtown and lives in the Scripps area. This center seemed ideal when transferring after the company consolidated two of it’s locations. I liked the idea that my daughter was in preschool with children not only in our neighborhood but, friends she’s made since we relocated to San Diego a year ago and will possibly move to Kindergarten with.
In the past month and a half, I have been charged $ 15 two times. The first time I walked in on a Friday at 6:35 due to traffic on the 163 North. I received a call from the center at 6:32pm to see if there was anyone on their way to pick my daughter up. (I was down the street) When I walked in (6:35pm) the two staff were up front with my daughter, and the staff member Miss Amy was extremely rude and unhelpful when I asked for the proper information on who to contact with my concerns… no one got to me until the following Wednesday.
Today I walked in at 6:33pm as there was a Nissan Altima flipped all the way over on the 163 North between Washington and where the 8 East splits, with two fire trucks turning the 163 North down into one lane.
So after the first incident I see an awful accident and feel the need to rush and drive to get there on time and still miss it by three minutes. Between 6:30 — 6:33 they had already wrote up the Late Fee form and stated three of their staff needed to stay behind for my daughter. Three staff members had to stay for my daughter after I walked in at 6:33 while I watched one do her regular clean up duties (take out the trash etc.) and while I watched other families still gather around the center in classrooms, and chat.
I’m not sure how this «No Grace period» is going to work with this upcoming winter as people in Southern California aren’t the best drivers in the rain. I’m also not sure if my daughter and I are the only family that will be effected by this new rule either. It is beyond my control what happens in my 16.3 mile commute, I am not out taking my time to get my daughter, and I don’t feel this is fair at all.
I am well aware of those who would take advantage of certain grace periods but, that clearly isn’t the case here.
The way I have been treated in these two situations have not made it a pleasant we to pick my daughter up after being away from her at work all day.
I am in the process of seeking higher authority as those I’ve tried to talk to and deal with can’t help me and don’t really seem to care anyway.
If I do not get the proper help or customer service (as it is a pretty penny to send your children here) I will unfortunately have to remove my daughter from this familiar learning environment to another facility that has more of an understanding of some circumstances beyond my control… as well as being a single parent household with no family in the county.
