History

Established in 2000.

The story of Scripps Poway Eyecare & Optometry actually began 500 miles away, on the campus of U.C. Berkeley where Keith Wan and Jay Mashouf were classmates in the School of Optometry starting in 1993. Both had the dream of opening a private practice in Southern California where they each grew up. Deciding that it was better to take the plunge together, they (along with their wives and kids) moved to beautiful San Diego and opened Scripps Poway Eyecare. There were many challenges along the way, but their commitment to «patient centered care» has paid off and decades later, they have woven themselves into the fabric of Scripps Ranch and neighboring communities and have been priveleged to take care of thousands of its residents.

Business Owner

Dr. Wan graduated from UCLA in 1993 with a degree in Physiological Sciences. He then earned his doctorate in Optometry from UC Berkeley. He has a clinical interest in fitting contact lenses and medically indicated contact lenses for conditions such as keratoconus, high myopia, high astigmatism, and anisometropia. Dr. Wan also has an emphasis for the treatment of ocular disease, such as corneal diseases and diabetic retinopathy. Therapeutic privileges are utilized with the ability to prescribe topical steroids, antibiotics, and systemic medications. He also participates in laser refractive surgery co-​management and post refractive surgical care for patients. Dr. Wan was named America’s Top Optometrist for 2006 and 2007 by the Consumers Research Council of America.
