We called «San Diego Heating & Air Conditioning» at 858−217−5377 on October 9, 2015. When this company answered my call, no one said «San Diego Heating & Air Conditioning». I had to ask if that was who I just called. He said, «yes, and that his name was Ara, the owner of the company.» I explained that our Trane AC wasn’t working and we were thrilled when Ara said he would be over in 2 hours. We had called other well known San Diego HVAC companies, but the earliest they could come was the following week. San Diego was going through a horrible heat wave, so we were happy that Ara was on his way the same. day. When Ara arrived he quickly checked to see if our AC compressor was working or not, After only using a compressor gauge he told us that we needed a whole new Air conditioner and that it was going to cost $ 6,000. He never checked other outdoor parts in our unit. If he had checked the unit’s capacitor, Ara would have discovered that was the only problem. Ara misdiagnosed the problem and tried to get us to purchase a whole new unit. That’s fraud. Thankfully, we called another company, Air Plus Heating & Cooling, and Ed came out the next day and told us the true issue. Ed’s correct diagnose. saved us $ 5,800! The other issue with Ara was that he said the name of his company was «Comfort Air, not San Diego Heating & Air Conditioning.» Ara was very nice and sounded honest when he tried to get us to purchase a whole new unit, but this was clearly a scam. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Our air conditioning went out last week. First I called ASI and they couldn’t come out until the end of the week and they wanted to charge $ 69 just to check it out. With very hot weather on the way, I was worried.
Luckily Unilocal led me to this fantastic company. The owner himself (Ara) answered the phone and offered to come out himself within 2 hours. He said that he would only charge $ 29 to check things out but since we bought a new unit he waived that fee. He quickly diagnosed the problem (we needed a new unit) and offered us a great rate. He couldn’t have been more helpful and pleasant in explaining the problem with the current unit.
He scheduled us to have the unit replaced the next day. Mark and two other gentlemen came out the next day and they were very friendly and just nice to have around. The owner himself also stopped by. They got the job done in under 3 hours and left everything clean. We now have a beautiful new AC that uses the more environmentally friendly «Freon». This new unit will also cost a lot less to run.

Comfort Air’s voicemail greeting says someone will return your call in 10 minutes. They’re not kidding. Even after a heat wave when the need for A/​C repair spiked, Ara returned my call promptly. Unlike others, he asked me questions over the phone to narrow down the problem and determine that it was something he could look at right away. While his competitors were booking appointments a week or two out due to the demand, Ara was able to swing by my home within a couple hours. He diagnosed the problem quickly. Even though I was not able to give him the work because my home warranty should cover the issue, he was kind enough to give us pointers to increase our odds of coverage. And, he didn’t even charge us the service fee because he was there a relatively short time. That’s a great way to keep a loyal following!

Called other places and was given high quotes just to come out and do a diagnostic. Went with this company because of lowest quote. They were honest and helpful! The Tech that came out explained and showed me what the issue was, I was worried about the cost. Unfortunately I couldn’t go on with getting my AC unit repaired due to my own budget but I will definitely be calling them back as soon as we can afford to fix.

AC broke at my aunt’s house down in San Diego on the hottest weekend of the year (ugh)… I searched for air conditioning repair contractors in San Diego and found these guys. I called them up and the owner came super quick and said something about our HVAC system (idk what that means) being dirty and old or something like that and needed some fixing. In 30 minutes he and his crew had the air conditioning working (thank GOD), price was reasonable and the service was excellent and personable. Would def recommend.

I’m upgrading my rating once again, this time to 5 stars, as after a period of time went by, I realized that San Diego Heating & Air Conditioning never charged my card for the base $ 120 I was quoted. I contacted them to see why they hadn’t charged me, and Ara (the owner) told me he didn’t feel right charging me after the whole mix-​up. He wanted to make sure I had a good customer service experience. I told him I would be happy to pay what I owed, but he said, no, please just give him a chance to win back my loyalty next time. I sure will!

My Air conditioning and heating unit went out one day. The unit that I had was real old. I started to look around for prices for a new unit. Anytime I have to purchase something that costs more than $ 1000 I get at least 3 estimates. I got 4. The first place gave me a quote that seemed very high. The Second was S. D Comfort Air. The third place couldn’t come out for 3 weeks and the fourth was very expensive and not that knowledgeable. So I continued my conversation with Ara who is the owner. He gave me a ballpark estimate which was very fair in comparison to the other quotes. In addition a very professional and kind person.
He sent out Mark the very next day to give me a more exact quote. Mark arrived on time and could not be more nice and informative. He took 20 minutes to asses my unit and also looked at my outdated and tricky exterior air duct connection. He explained the whole process and gave me an amount that was much cheaper than the other estimates which included everything including the duct connection. I gave the go ahead.
I get a call 2 days before the install date. It’s Ara and he notified me it’s going to rain on my install day. To my surprise he gave me the option to install it the day before or to reschedule for a date after the rain. WOW!!! How awesome is that. I went with the day before. I’m sure there were some strings he had to pull with the crane operator and delivery of the unit but he made it happen without making me fell weird .
So it’s install day. You know why my estimate was fast, fair and why Mark was so knowledgeable? Because he’s also the head installer. He and 2 other guys came out and bucked out the install all in one day. They informed me that they had to do repair some faulty work from whomever installed the old unit. No up-​charge, no attitude. The hvac was up and running perfectly that same day. I will definitely refer this place to anyone that asks. Awesome company. Professional, great service, punctual all for an awesome price. I highly recommend them. Thanks guys.

I called them because they were local… but wasn’t worth the call.
I have a mini-​split system that is installed to the point of just need the 2 lines tightened with a torque wrench and a vacuum pulled on the line (30 min of work has been estimated by others) — their estimate $ 550 because they call it a «start-​up» and that is the price for such a procedure. This is not a start up… as the system is fully precharged and pressurized for the line run… and no adjustments are needed… just a connection. Go elsewhere.

It’s the hottest week of the year, and hubby decides to change the difficult-​to-​work thermostat on our air conditioning unit. The AC had been working well, but the thermostat was a pain. New thermostat ensures the AC is now not working at all. Called our regular guy and couldn’t reach him; called several other companies with great Unilocal reviews – they couldn’t come for 3 weeks, they didn’t call me back, they don’t service this area, blah blah blah. Meanwhile, the heat and humidity increases.
So I call Comfort Air next, and lo and behold, Ara knows why the AC won’t work over the phone. Can’t get here for two days, but if he can he’ll get here the next day by 5:00.
And guess what? At 4:30 the technician calls me and says he’ll be here and shows up like a knight in shining armor. Within an hour, he’s fixed the blown-​out fuse in the furnace that regularly happens when non-​AC guys try to put in a thermostat from
and got us cooled down again. Reasonable price, service within 24 hours — they are awesome. This is their busiest season, but they were able to give us excellent service a day earlier. Excellent company and they are now at the top of my list.

The owner Ara came on time, called before he showed up, and provided the best service. He clearly explained what he thought the problem was (he was right), what he would do to fix it, and exactly how much it would cost. The work he did was very clean and thorough and now our house is much cooler. One of the best experiences with home repair I have ever had.

These guys are the best! My Ac went out this morning I called a few different places they weren’t able to come out till after September and would charge well over 100, I talked to Ara he mentioned he could get someone out in the morning but ended up coming himself instead, he fixed it in less then a half hour and the price and service are great I definitely found the company I’m going to use in the future and would also recommend them to others!

I left a message on their Unilocal page, as well as calling them Monday morning, after our air conditioner stopped working over the weekend. It was 7:30 when I called. Mark let me know he would be there by 10am. A little while later I got a call back from my online message. So, good response from both. Mark arrived on time, found out it was our capacitor that stopped our AC from working, and had the item in his truck. He was on time, and done within 30 minutes. He even gave us recommendations on what we needed to do to make our unit more efficient. Happy with the service we received!

Our AC went out last night during a humid week in SD. We have our daughters birthday party tomorrow, so we were in a bit of a time crunch. We called a few other companies and our wait time for an appt was 3−4days! I happened upon Comfort Air Zone Heating and Air Conditioning on Unilocal.Best experience!
I was contacted back in less than 5 minutes of leaving a message and the tech was at my house within 30 minutes. He quickly assessed the problem, gave us the options and quickly set to work fixing our unit. Upon completion, he explained what he fixed and showed us the faulty equipment. I would recommend this company to anyone having a need for air repairs.

Late in the day on a very hot Tuesday I realized that our A/​C wasn’t putting out cool air. I checked outside and found the unit was making a humming noise but the fan was not moving. I found Comfort Air Zone on the internet, read some Unilocal reviews about them and noticed they were also on Angie’s List and BBB approved. I figured it was too late in the day to reach anyone to help but I gave them a call anyway. Ara, the owner answered the phone at 5:45pm. Instead of rushing me because of the lateness of the day, he patiently listened to me explain my situation. He said he thought he knew what the problem was from my description and asked when I’d like them to come out. To my surprise he made time to come out the next morning. He arrived the next morning, earlier than promised and had our A/​C running within minutes. He replaced the capacitors, added freon checked everything else out and gave me an impromptu A/​C 101 course as I asked several questions. The main thing I sensed about this man and his company was his integrity and honesty. He could have told me the A/​C unit was dead and needed to be replaced as it is 20+ years old but instead he repaired it and pronounced it viable for another 5 – 7 years. This kind of integrity is not often found these days. This company is a «keeper»!

Comfort Air Zone is the best heating/​ac repair service ever! They are very professional and honest. My heater broke down over the weekend in this freezing weather and a friend of a friend referred us to call Comfort Air Zone. They were able to come right away and fix the problem within an hour. Their price was very resonable and they were great people.

As a real estate broker, I don’t know if I was happier that my client’s AC actually functioned or that I had finally found a trustworthy HVAC contractor. Derrick was professional and extremely competent. He troubleshot the A/​C and figured out pretty quickly that it was a no cost fix to get it operating. I now have a contractor I can rely on for my real estate clients… at an extremely reasonable rate. More importantly I know that they are professional, competent and trustworthy.
