I was hold on for over 15 minutes to ask what I needed to open an account so I just went to a branch. Security Guard opened the door for me and the Receptionist was sweet. Next, I was greeted by John, the Assistant Manager. He made it so easy to set up my account and we even conversated about food and other things while remanining professional. I kept having trouble siging in on my phone but he never showed frustration or seemed irritated. I was there for over an hour along with my sister who opened 2 accounts and it was pleasant. He is EXCELLENT at his job and needs to manage his own branch. All the employees were friendly as well! A plus is that they make your cards there!
So happy to bank with a credit union now !

By far the worst credit union I have been a member of. I moved out of state and the process I have gone through to get a new ATM card or access and transfer any of the money I have in my SDCCU account has been ridiculous. Everything has to be done by mail because the information they have on the account to verify that I am who I say I am is wrong even though I personally updated it before I moved. If you need anything done on you account you either message them on their website and hope for a response or call and spend over 30min on hold waiting to talk to a representative. The first chance I get to visit San Diego I’m closing my account.

HORRIBLE… Customer Service rep Irene refused to even try to help even after I answered the security questions correctly. She said she need more info??? Refused to give me options, refused to transfer me to a supervisor. DO NOT USE THIS BANK!

Terrible service. Recently moved to the area and looking to switch to a local credit union. Won’t be SDCCU after this visit. No interest in helping with transactions (aka making change) for a non-​customer despite belonging to the shared branch network. Will not be back to SDCCU.

Tried the teller service the other day. Bank isn’t as big physically compared to other sdccu’s I have been to. But it was nice and cool with the AC blasting. The teller I had seemed nice but also seemed in a rush to get me out. I did a withdrawal from one of my accounts and she gave me the money. Slight issue is she didn’t ask if I needed to do anything else at the end, which I did have to break some change with other money I had. So that took a few more minutes. Overall, it’s not bad service but it could have been more efficient.

Such a bad bank! I switched from one of the name brand banks in an effort to stay local. The representatives are so incompetent and they do not offer the same BASIC services other banks are able to provide. I was told I couldn’t get these services because «we’re just a small, community bank.» That’s supposed to be the upside to doing business with SDCCU, not the downside. Even services they represent to work a certain way do not work as advertised. When you try to get someone to help, they simply say they are «forwarding this request» to someone else who never gets in contact with you. SDCCU simply can’t compete with other banks, local or otherwise. Online services are terrible and the phone hours are even worse! Do not choose this credit union if you can avoid it.
