My wedding ring broke! Simon created an entire new ring, but very meticulously modeled it after the original ring, with a couple of his signature designs. He is a true master as what he does. I was so happy to work with him… and lucky to find him!

I have never met such a committed craftsman like Simon. His genius is like no other. I wanted to get my wife a special gift for her 40^th. I was thinking a nice set of earnings instead of a necklace pendant. After seeing Simon for the initial visit, I felt comfortable in doing business with him. We sat and talked for a few hours about, well, anything! Super great guy! His design skills are unbelievable. Will be seeing him again without a doubt!

I have been going to Simon and Victoria at Rock N Gold for years. Simon did an amazing job on creating a ring that used the stone from my old engagement ring. His design went way beyond my expectations. It was simply gorgeous and I always receive compliments on it. I have also purchased jewelry from Simon and Victoria. The pieces have been beautiful and reasonably priced. I would only use Rock N Gold Creations for any of my jewelry needs!

After shopping at jewelry stores at the mall as well as a couple other stand alone big name diamond stores i found Simon at rock and gold. Simon gave me a great deal on a perfect engagement ring. He gave me exactly what i asked for a great price.

I met Simon through my wife just over 15 years ago when I purchased her wedding band.
It was the beginning with no end in sight :-)
A couple years later his wife Victoria patiently worked with me as I selected a loose diamond to put in my wife’s Christmas stocking. After Christmas, Simon and Victoria helped us with a design, and magically transformed an idea into a beautiful diamond ring. Last week my wife surprised me with a custom tricolor wedding band that I sketched when we were first married for our 15 year anniversary.
Over the years we have brought jewelry in for repair, cleaning and have purchased several pieces both from the display case as well custom jewelry.
It is nice to do business with an artisan that is honest and straightforward. I have found Rock N Gold to provide comparable pricing, excellent quality and outstanding service.

I have been searching for my first quality timepiece to celebrate my university graduation, start of a new internship, and my birthday. After four months of researching I came across Rock N Gold. I called to inquire if they had the style of watch I was looking for, a pre-​owned Omega. Simon let me know that he had a watch in stock if I wanted to take a look. I drove from LA to San Diego the next morning to check it out and the watch was of outstanding quality, recently serviced, and an outstanding price.

It is hard to find a quality jeweler anywhere.
There are jewelry stores all around that sell quality products, but that is not the same thing as a jeweler.
A jeweler can custom fabricate jewelry and that is complicated because they work with fire and high temperatures, noxious chemicals and high overhead. I have never seen a true jeweler in a mall.
Simon Mattar has been doing work for me since I had him size a ring in 1998. He used to do all the work himself, and is a GIA graduate, but he has a small team of craftsmen that work with him now, so he can keep up with demand.
He has done everything for me from small cleaning jobs, to custom fabrication, to providing me with some very high end pieces at very fair prices. Rock n Gold is open on Saturdays, which is very convenient. The location is very accessible from most of San Diego County.
If you expect to go here and pick something out of a catalog, or are just window shopping, you are likely to be disappointed. RnG specializes in crafting unique works of art made for the discriminating collector or someone looking for that true «one-​of-​a-​kind» piece. If you do know what you want in a pre-​made, commercial piece, Simon can probably get it for you at a very reasonable cost.
Simon is professional, skilled and as honest as the day is long. Speaking from personal experience only, he has provided nothing but integrity and top quality work and product on every occasion, small dinky work that no other shop in town would touch without a high minimum charge, to highly detailed pieces that required hours of work.
He is the only jeweler in San Diego that I work with, and it has been that way since we started working together.

I recently sold some gold and silver to Rock N Gold. I held on to this jewelry for emotional reasons. After moving from another state I was in a financial bind. I got a fair price for my jewelry. The customer service was incredible. Simon and Victoria rock!

I’ve been here quite a few times to sell my gold and Simon gave me the best deal he could considering the gold prices at the time. FYI, if you go to any gold buyer when the gold market is down, you won’t get paid very well, so do some research and go when it’s up.

I took some scrap gold jewelry in to Rock-​n-​Gold to get a quote. My plan was to get quotes from several places and go with the best one. The person we dealt with (presumably the owner) was very professional and friendly; after a lengthy examination, he explained in some detail what we had brought in and how much he was willing to pay. His determination of the gold content for each piece was accurate, even on a couple of odd items with no makers marks. We walked out with a paper quote.
The other places we went to (e.g. Leo Hamel) were a joke by comparison; they were unprofessional, underhanded and in some cases outright dishonest. Even if their quotes had come in higher (which they didn’t) I would probably have gone back to Rock-​n-​Gold for the sale anyway.
When we returned to make the sale, we were treated in the same professional manner as on our initial visit and left with a check on a downtown bank which we cashed without a problem that same day.
Next time I have some scrap gold to unload (I wish) I’ll probably go straight to Rock-​n-​Gold and save myself a lot of time and hassle.
