History
Established in 2000.
Raw Mana Sushi Lounge was established in the Summer of 2000 as a remodel within Seau’s the Restaurant. Seau’s the Restaurant is owned by Junior Seau, a San Diego Hometown Hero and NFL Superstar. Originally the space was used as a Humidor /Cigar Lounge then converted into the present Raw Mana Sushi Lounge. The lounge has since then established itself as a Fusion Style Sushi lounge, blending the traditional flavors and art of Japanese Sushi with other cultural and food influences from all over the world.
Meet the Manager
Josh J.
Manager
Manager and Head Sushi Chef of Raw Mana Sushi Lounge, Josh Jimenez has over 7 years of Sushi Experience. His training began within Raw Mana Sushi Lounge under the tutelage of Chefs Mike Malicdem and Josh Carambas. Since his start in Sushi, Chef «Big Josh» has developed a Passion for creating unique dishes by fusing his Filipino background and culture with that of his experiences around the world. Big Josh was raised in Yokosuka, Japan where he developed a taste for Traditional Japanese flavors and Sushi. In 2011 he left Raw Mana Sushi Lounge to open up the Sushi Bar at «The Bistro @ The Strand.» This was a new concept restaurant for university dining at the University of California San Diego. Joined by Sushi Chef Michael «Big Mike» Ferrer who helped originally open Raw Mana Sushi Lounge, they established a fine dining Sushi experience that stands out from all others in the area. In 2012 he returned to Raw Mana to push the limits on traditional Sushi.
