Pooch Hotel

Excellent facility and staff! It is so easy to drop our dog off here and pick him up whenever we please, there are no hassles or complications whatsoever. We always have peace of mind leaving our dog here, even if we are gone for days. Sometimes the staff is a little mixed up on which dog is ours and which food bowl is ours etc. upon pickup, thus the minus one star, but it is soon sorted out. Highly recommended!

I started bringing my dog here about 6 months ago, and WE LOVE IT! The staff, too many to name, have become like friends. They love my boy. He just boarded here for the first time and it went very well! I worry because our pets are like kids… part of our family. I feel great leaving my boy here. And I love that it’s all indoor! So no worries about El Niño rains washing out the play areas! There are three play areas and they have web cams so you can watch your pup play.

Took a trip down to San Diego and dropped one of my dogs off here. The employees were friendly. I had no idea that your first visit for daycare was free so that was cool. I tried looking at the webcam on my phone but it didn’t work out too well, it was grainy and a little choppy so I could not really see what my dog was doing. (Not sure if this is how it is on phones or if it was the reception) But they gave me a report when I picked him up that he stayed to himself which wasn’t a surprise. Overall it was a good visit. The only negative I have to say is that I did not receive his food back that I brought nor did they mention to me whether or not if he ate. I would recommend this location but definitely double check to make sure you have everything before leaving.

Before taking your dog here I would re-​think that. We started brining our puppy here who is unaltered. The first time I went to pick him up they couldn’t find him for a good 10 minutes leaving me feeling a little uneasy, but ok whatever. We brought him here over 10 times. One account they «forgot» to feed him. Another time his ear had a pretty deep cut that was not addressed. The icing on the cake is the last time we brought him there we never saw him on the cameras and he was left in the back for 6 hours. Then they proceeded to lie and say oh he played i just cant tell you for how long… Interesting. Bad business we have since moved on to a great daycare business that actually cares about the animals vs collecting your money. Beware

Took my pup here just for a free day of play (first day is free) to tire him out. When I first walked in, it immediately smelled of urine. I let that slide, I understood the circumstances. You can see the suites right when you come in and they’re pretty nice looking. Halfway through the day, I get a call that my pup had been bitten while playing with another dog, and that no one noticed until they later saw blood on his nose (how they knew it was during play then I don’t know). They were super nice about it, but to the point of minimizing it. They said it had stopped bleeding and he was fine. When I picked him up it was hard to tell how bad it was because he’s so fluffy but, although it was small, it was pretty deep and still bloody (though not actively bleeding). I would not have allowed him to continue playing with other dogs if I knew he still had an open wound and would have gotten him immediately. Anyways, he is fine so far. Hopefully it doesn’t become infected.
It’s nice that they have «Kong service» but I don’t like that my fur baby is inside all day. I prefer Camp Run-​a-​Mutt where they can run around outdoors and the price is about the same. I’ve read a lot of reviews about pups here getting Kennel Cough or other sicknesses so with all these things combined I will probably not come back.

It looks nice from the outside, and during our tour. HOWEVER, we got our two small dogs back after four expensive nights with lots of problems. One came back with kennel cough ($ 400 vet bill to get over that), the other one came back with fleas and an eye infection. Both of them smelled strongly of urine, their blankets had obviously been peed on multiple times and there was poop in them. Even their kennel smelled terrible and needed a full scrubbing. When we called about the fleas and kennel cough, the response was nonchalant and we were told that’s what happens when dogs mingle with other dogs. All around, terrible experience and definitely not worth the money. One star because I had to.

Great space ! Attentive staff ! Great groomers. I had asked for the tour and was very impressed. Very clean. The kennels were of good size. You can walk in and watch our pups playing well with others !!

Had a 6pm same day need for one nights lodging. The manager stated they only had a suite available. When asked if the standard rate could be honored ($ 50 savings), the manager says that in the ‘spirit’ of being fair that she couldn’t honor the standard rate. Very professional staff over the phone. This certainly would’ve been my exclusive venue of choice, but I’ll go elsewhere due to rigid management. One star for being polite on the phone.

This was our first time here today at Pooch hotel, my boyfriend and I went to drop off our 5 month old boxer for some playtime while we ran errands and as soon as we walked in my boyfriend felt super comfortable leaving her there, need i remind you he is very picky when it comes to leaving our boxer at places. They were super clean and organized, the dogs there looked like they were having a blast with eachother. We loved the fact that they have webcams so we were able to check up on her from time to time. When we came back to pick her up she was extremely tired and passed out in the backseat of our car, she had a blast there and made tons of friends. We will definitely be bringing her back again! Thanks so much Pooch crew for making our baby boxer feel so well loved and comfortable.

My pup was 6 months old when we took her to Pooch Hotel to be boarded for 5 days while we were out of state. We dropped our pup off on Thursday evening and then recieved a call on Saturday morning telling us that our pup was not putting any weight on her right rear leg. We asked what happened and the first story we got was that she jumped over something and landed wrong (um, dogs dont land on there back legs when then jump over something) and they asked us if we wanted them to TAKE HER TO OUR VET. Of course we said yes! We get a call about a half hour later saying that it is their policy to take her to their vet if something goes wrong; why would they even offer to take her to our vet if it was not in their policy? We then get a call from their vet saying that she needs 3 xrays and needed to be sedated. Then we get a call that her leg was BROKEN in two places! So now on top of the xray costs, the sedative cost, now they add the splinting to the bill. The manager of the Pooch Hotel called us to give us a different story about how she jumped straight up at one of the employees and landed wrong when she came down. Oh, by the way, the vet bill was $ 450, they recommended surgery, and the Pooch Hotel refused to pay for any of it, and the vet needed to be paid that same day, so we had to pull the money out of our asses to cover the vet bill.
My husband and I came back into town and picked her up on the way home from the airport and we took her to our vet two days later for a second opinion. Our vet thinks that either a door was shut or opened on her, and also recommended surgical repair of her leg.
I do NOT recommend the Pooch Hotel to ANYONE. Their story about how our pup got injured is beyond sketchy. It is staffed 24 hours a day but they charge you after hours to drop off or pick up your pooch. They also put all size dogs in one play area, it is not separated by small/​medium and large dogs which made me uncomfortable when my 8 lb terrier was being followed by a 50 lb pitbull when we dropped her off.
My advice, do whatever you possibly can to avoid boarding your pup here. Staff is untrustworthy and do not seem knowledgeable about their own policies.

I’m writing this review my yorkie went to pooch hotel sandiego ca first time for daycare I had to go to court they did a great job gage was happy & exhausted which is great !!! I will b bringing him back I like the fact it’s ²⁴⁄₇ someone is there with r pet not left alone all night I hope this review helps anyone who doesn’t want to worry about they’re baby as I do

absolute BEST pet resort in all of san diego. we switched our dog here after the other place raised their rates and we could not be happier here! our dog had to stay for just under a month and we were so broken up about leaving him for that long but the people at Pooch Hotel became his second family. they all knew him by name and absolutely fell in love with him. they took such good care of our dog and we will be coming back here time and again. unbelievably excellent staff and the play area cameras are always on. i am super impressed by this place and cannot say enough good things. plus they are owned by Petco so you can use your pals rewards here and also earn rewards. so cool!
btw… my dog chewed up his bed the first night and the staff sent us an email with pictures and asked what we wanted to do. SO nice! i love them for keeping me in the loop like that. great place

I’ve been here once before. I was very happy with the service and my dog was happy so it wasn’t a big deal she came home with the pad of her foot torn open. This time my dog spent 3 and a half hours of her time at daycare in time out because she acted like a dog and another hour digesting her kong treat that was supposed to be served in the afternoon. Altogether her 6 hour visit resulted in 90 minutes of play time. If I wanted my dog to sit in a room be herself I would have left her home alone. We won’t be back.

my dog stayed for boarding and was suppose to be at playtime on day of pick up! ive watched that webcam early AM to time of pick up and never saw my dog! when i asked i was told they «rotate the dogs since there are a lot» but when u look at the playground there were so few than norm number of dogs! so they never brought my dog out at all!!!
they use the same mop and mop-​water to clean poop and pee in the playground!!! sanitary??? watch n ull see!!!

My apt complex was having a scheduled fire alarm test and it was absolutely essential to me that I get my dog, Coco, outta there when the sirens r going off. So, I went on a mission to find the best doggy daycare.
There were several 4.5+ star places around the area and I was planning on all of them to find the one that’s closest to me + reasonably priced. The first one I called was Pooch Hotel bc it’s literally just down the st from my house.
Joe picked up and was very helpful. He even informed me that I can get the first full-​day care for Free! (As long as I bring the updates vaccination records of course). That said, I no longer needed to call anyone else.
Next morning, I drove to the place to drop off coco. Realized that I left her vaccination records at work but Joe was kind enough to give our vet a call. Left coco there (It was HEARTBREAKING to say the least) but was comforted by the fact that they send u a link to monitor coco’s activities. I also redeemed the «free kong» service from Unilocal and Coco was taken to a private room to enjoy the kong.
While monitoring Coco, she was pretty anxious all day and wasn’t playing with the other dogs the way I wanted her to. Instead, she was just on her hind legs all day trying to make the human pick her up (I know she’s like a child). That said, the people in the play pen were patient with her (always at least one person there). Not only that, I saw a black dog trying to bully Coco and the dog was moved to another pen right away! Kudos for that!

Overall, I was not too happy with the customer service. Everything seemed okay when I initially toured the site, but I was not granted the services that I was promised.
This was the first time boarding my dog at Pooch Hotel. I got a tour of the facilities before I dropped my pup off — and everything looked A-​OK. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the amenities looked great. I was told the Presidential Suite was the only suite left. I was sold on this option, because I was told there was a webcam link to watch her and I wanted to make sure the arrangements were adequate for future use.
I did not receive the webcam link, and I requested the link via email later that evening. I never received a response. When I went to pickup my pup I told the staff I was disappointed that I did not receive the link. The staff responded by saying that they got busy and forgot, and I should have reminded them. Not cool. No apologies were given — only excuses. From other reviews I’ve read, people have had similar experiences.
As an individuals who services clients on a daily basis, I strongly believe that Pooch Hotel should train their employees on customer service and organizational skills.

Absolutely the worst customer service with clients & their pets, especially by their General Manager. I don’t recommend you bring your dog here.

So I took my Fur baby here for the first time today. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and helpful and the facility was clean and updated. I was stoked to find out they had webcams so I can check in on my little guy, and if I ever need to board my pup they have these cool little presidential suites with T. V’s and little human bed replicas.
The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the price is high in comparison to other day camps. High 5 Pooch.

I’ve been taking my dog here for several months and she loves it. Good play time for her and never had a problem until recently.
There was an accident there with my dog and I was told to pick her up because her ear kept bleeding over an hour and a half after I dropped her off. So I rushed over there picked her up and was told another dog was playing rough with her so I took her to the vet. 200+ dollars later I go back with my vet receipt to see if they can cover it because it happened in their watch. They said it is not their responsibility if our dog gets hurt while they are taking care of it. On top of that they charged us for a full day still for the day my dog got hurt even though she was there for less than 2 hours! They are really nice here until something like this happens. They just turned their backs on us and pretty much told us we’re on our own. I will never take my dog here again.

My Doberman Bishop gets dropped off here for daycare to exert all his energy. When he leaves he is so tired he sleeps on the ride home and exhausted even the following day. I am happy I found this place for him to go having a large intact male dog. We also go to puppy training on Saturdays which is pretty good for owners who have puppies that really need a place to train and socialize.
