DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER! We bought 2 scooters from this place in 2012 and still have not received my registration. I’ve called 100 times and still haven’t heard from anyone until the company was «sold» or so they say. I then was told that they could register the bikes for me for $ 300 and then it magically dropped to $ 150 and now I have a pending law suit against them. They have stolen more money from more people that I can count.
I want to get a class action law suit started against this company so if this company NAME or and employee promised you a registration and never followed through please reach out to me and I will file the suit.

Stay Away! The scooters are cheap and break down easily. The owner, Eric, is impossible to get ahold of. I loved my scooter when I purchased it, but later had many problems with it. Eric always fixed it, but getting ahold of him to do the work was always a huge ordeal. We’d leave message after message for him (as he never answers the phone) and maybe 2 weeks later he’d return the call. He’s a really nice guy, but the product is shoddy and so is his business management.
Buy a Vespa instead from Motorsport Scooters on Pacific Highway. They’ll let you test drive (with a motorcycle license or permit) and are incredibly knowledge and helpful. Their scooters are HIGH QUALITY and won’t break down every 300 miles. They also have an awesome service department.

I called this shop and someone called me back asking me if I had called. I explained my needs and twice more later that day someone called me back asking if I had called. Again two days later someone called asking me if I had called, again told them my needs and they said they would call me in two days. Called me in two days and promised to call me the next day. told me he would be in my area and could stop by and fix the scooter. No call, have called back three times and no answer, no response. On to someone else. :(

I purchased a scooter from Point Loma Scooters back in June of 2014. I was told the deal was only good if I was to pay cash, that he would take care of the registration and that it would come with a one year warranty.
My first problem came when 6 months went by and I realized I still had not received my license plate in the mail as promised. It was mainly brought to my attention because my friend bought a scooter on the same day and his was towed off of the street due to not having a valid registration, which ended up costing him over $ 700 to retrieve back out of impound. That is almost half the price of the scooter! After many, many, many attempts to call and stop by Point Loma Scooter’s with no luck– I proceeded to write a poor Unilocal review, which seemed to have caught his attention. I finally received my license plate in the mail, 8 months later! That is almost one full year later! His lies and excuses were comical. He tried to tell me the reason that my scooter plate was taking so long was because what he sold me was actually a 2014 model. When I bought it he told me it was a 2013 model. And now, when I look inside the brochure he sent me home with, the booklet states the scooter is a 2009 model! What did I really buy?
My second problem came when my scooter would no longer run after 600 miles. Of course I called Eric because part of the draw in me purchasing the scooter was the one year warranty.
Naturally I called Point Loma Scooters to have him fix the scooter as promised. After weeks of failed attempts to get in touch with him he finally offers to come pick the scooter up at my house. Which I thought was an attempt at some five star customer serviceHe had asked me to leave the key on the front tire and told me he would be there during the day to pick it up (of course he never showed up, and the key sat on the tire all night, just waiting for someone to come steal). Again, after weeks of failed phone calls he came, picked it up, «fixed it» and dropped it back off. According to him he «adjusted the valves, cleaned the carburetor, changed the oil and checked the vacuum lines». I have proof of this in a text message from Eric. Of course no paper receipt, or proof that I paid him $ 100 in cash for my «first service» (other than the text exchange). Of course my scooter would not start the next day, so I had it towed over to a different local repair shop who had left a note on my receipt stating that the valves were in fact loose and that he had to fine tune the carburetor. Which I am assuming that either Eric has no clue how to fix a scooter, or that he basically picked up the scooter, took my money from me, and dropped it back off in the same condition it was in when he picked it up. I have since attempted to call and collect my $ 100 back from Eric– but of course I have not received a call back, and when I stopped by his store, there was a Yoga studio in it’s place.
I attempted to call «Owl Scooters» which is the company located in the back of the «operating manual» that was guaranteeing the «warranty» of the scooter. Which if you look closely is taped into the back of the owner manual (which is extremely sketchy). When I made the phone call to «owl scooters» another business picked up and said they had gone out of business back in 2008! So basically Point Loma Scooter’s knowingly sold me a fake warranty!
Here are the links to the BBB and Unilocal reviews that I have since found while doing research on this guy. One concerning thing that I found while doing my research is that– it seems the BBB has shut him down before, but he is still able to obtain a different EIN number/​name and resume operations! Basically he has found a loop whole to continue scamming and ripping people off ! Almost every Unilocal/​BBB review says the same thing too!
I went by to speak with him today, and noticed they were building a yoga studio inside of his old shop, so he no longer has a business front (or at least it’s not the same location) which would make sense as to why he insisted on coming to pick up my scooter from my house (silly me, I thought he was doing it for good customer service).
I just don’t understand how this man is able to get away with this. He is straight up deceiving, and scamming the general public. Isn’t this considered fraud? What has to happen before he gets shut down once and for all?

DONT YOU EVER BUY A SCOOTER AT THIS PLACE!!!
First of all, it’s almost impossible To reach Eric, he never answers the phone.
Second, I bought my Scooter by the end of October, I still don’t have the plates and I receive LAST WEEK the title. he doesn’t give receipt or sales tax. Now I’m going to the DMV to make the work that HE supposed to.
It can get worse: with just 270 miles my motocycle BROKE! eric fixed it, but it broke again 10 MINUTES AFTER he gave me back.

Yes, all the one star reviews are correct. Stay away from this place at all costs. I made the mistake of taking my scooter here for a repair. Took a year to get it back and when I did it was all rusty and no repairs had been done at all. I had been promised it was being stored inside while they waited for parts. Wish I had checked Unilocal first!

So still no tags and not registered with the DMV. I just spoke with Eric and he repeatedly said unfortunately there is nothing he or I can do until he receives the distributor documents with correct vehicle information atthe beginning of the year. So now I’m just waiting to hear from the dmv investigators and hopefully have a registered bike sooner than later.

This guy sells junk scooters and then provides no customer service or repairs and NEVER EVER returns a call. His cheap Chinese scooters don’t run for even 100 miles before they break down. You might think they are cheap, but they aren’t after you pump money into them…

If you’re in the military and looking to get a scooter don’t go to this place! Eric is really unprofessional and doesn’t know how to run a business. I had to threaten legal action against him to get the title to a scooter I purchased at point loma scooter over a year ago. Every time I called about the title I got the same excuse the all the other people on here have posted «They sent it to thr wrong address. Can I get you address again? «This happen about four time before I told him I had taken legal action. If I could give zero stars I would. Also beware of his «thats just other scooter businesses in the area trying to make me look bad on Unilocal» excuse. I’m not a scooter business owner and because of this experience I never want to own another scooter.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!
My boyfriend and I went into Point Loma Scooters one day to check out a bike. He had cash in hand and wanted to buy a bike that day. We drove to PL during their normal business hours and found that they were closed. Frustrating, considering we did the same thing the day before and they were also closed. First off, how do you run a successful business if you don’t answer your phones and have unreliable business hours? That should have been warning sign #1. Anyway, we peeked through the window and knocked a few more times and probably stood outside for 2 – 3 minutes thinking maybe he just stepped out really quick. Low and behold, 3 minutes go by and he just opens the door. Homeboy was inside the entire time. What a shade-​ball. Immediately the both of us got a bad and untrustworthy vibe from Eric. He was shaky, had darting eyes and spoke with timidly and we could both tell he was untrustworthy. My boyfriend was a Navy SEAL for 8 years and could sniff out the shady people in about 0.1 seconds.
He quoted us $ 1700 for a bike that was advertised on Craigslist for $ 899. When we were walking out, he lowered it $ 100 and said he would give us free delivery to our door since he has no bikes for sale in the shop. Still unimpressed, we left. 15 minutes later we get a call from him saying he’ll lower the price to $ 1500 and throw in a trunk for free. My boyfriend was growing irritated that this guy wasn’t shooting us straight and still declined his offer. In a sheepish tone, Eric went on to mention, «Well I’m the only authorized dealer for these bikes in the entire county, so you won’t find a better price around». Um, ok cool. So you feel like you have free reign to offer the worst customer service we’ve ever experienced because you have control over this territory? Don’t you have a spine, dude?
The next day, my bf called and bought the bike. Eric guaranteed us that it would be delivered to our house in 2 days. 3 days go by and no word from Eric. He didn’t answer the dozens of phone calls that my boyfriend made to him and had ZERO communication with us after he took $ 1500 of our money. Growing concerned that he had just been played, my bf made one last attempt in leaving a very stern voicemail and whaddya know… we got a response, not immediately, but the next afternoon. Shady. He gave us some song and dance about how he called us. Nope. Never called. No voicemail.
7 months go by and my bf is trying to sell the bike because he’s moving out of state. That’s when he realized he never got the tags. He called the DMV and it turns out Eric NEVER turned them in! So if my bf got pulled over, the bike would show up as stolen. Fuming mad, my bf called Eric who gave him some song and dance about how the «company» they use for this was having problems. According to all these Unilocal reviews, he’s been telling that story for years. That and he charged us like $ 100 for registration, only to find out the DMV only charges like $ 20. The DMV told us we got scammed.
This guy CANNOT be trusted. He is the shadiest person I’ve ever met. According to some other reviews, he keeps changing his name on Better Business Bureau so you can’t leave him a bad review.
DO NOT BUY YOUR SCOOTER FROM HIM. He WAY overchargers and in my opinion, he should be run out of town.

It’s funny how he mentions that I didn’t bring my scooter in after 600 miles, because it never reached 600 miles before it started having these problems. Furthermore, how could I drive it there with no tags? I did contact him prior to year. He didn’t even have my customer information on file. I will be contacting the BBB.
What’s also funny is how he tried to get my review removed for violating Unilocal’s terms of services, when he violated the terms of service by harassing me to take the review down when he did nothing to fix it. But I digress… Make sure you look at the filtered reviews. They show this license plate thing has been going on FOREVER. They also show that he has been successful in getting people’s reviews removed. I guess you failed with mine. :)

I went here with the intent to buy a Lazer 5 SSR Moped. First thing Eric did was try to sell me a much more expensive scooter despite me advising him I was not interested in anything except a moped.
He told me how much he wanted for the SSR Lazer 5 and I left to consider the deal. I came back on a Saturday to make the purchase but he apparently decided to take the day off. He left a note on the door promising a 100 discount if I mentioned his absence.
I returned a few days later and he promised to have the scooter the next day if I purchased with him. I agreed. I later found out he did not honor the $ 100 discount, and he tried to charge me $ 96 for registration. He later told me he was unable to register the moped and asked that I do it myself.
3 days later (two days late) he delivered the bike. He (or his mechanic) had broken the starter switch. He (or his mechanic) was unable to operate the lock on the gas cap and left dried blood on the bike. Eric assured me he would fix the switch in a week. Regarding the registration, I had to specifically ask that he refund the fee to which he asked, «Don’t tell the DMV you bought it from me.»
I took delivery of the bike because it was already several days late. Eric promised to fix the starter switch in a week.
I returned one week later and Eric forgot who I was. He tried to sell me a scooter. I explained why I was there and he stated he spoke with the manufacturer and stated it would be ready within a week. This process repeated for six months. HE LITERALLY FORGOT WHO I WAS EACH TIME I SAW HIM.
I am still stuck with a moped that does not work as advertised.
It has been one year. I strongly recommend you avoid this dealer.

RUN AWAY! Eric had my scooter for 7 months, with no communication He did nothing. NOTHING! Except lie. Then he wanted $ 80 for «diagnostics.» HA! and in cash. Just a terrible experience.

This guy promised me that he would offer good service if I bought a scooter from him. He told me he loved his job working on scooters. It has been over 7 months since I bought the scooter and I still have no tags, he avoided providing my first tune up and now that my scooter needs repairs at this early stage he is completely ignoring me. I have to find another shop to service my scooter. I have no idea how to get my tags. This place is very unprofessional and borderline robbery.

Please please please DO NOT buy a scooter from this crew. I got a good price on my scooter but after that all bets were off. I have had my bike for 8 months and still no plates or pink slip. I keep calling and all I hear is the exact same excuse over and over. They are pros at kicking the can down the road but getting you bike registered is a joke. I should have read the reviews before I bought my scooter but it is way too late now. Go anywhere but here!!!

Why are your only positive reviews from the same IP address? Why are there over 100 negative reviews filtered out?
I bought my scooter there last winter. The price was right, and it sure is fun to ride, but it is cheaply made and already falling apart. Of course none of these minor parts are covered under warranty. This isn’t what bothers me though. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Shame on me for buying a cheap scooter.
My true issue with the shop is that the owner lacks integrity and seems to have no shame about that. He also has no sense of customer service.
Upon purchase of my scooter, Eric promised that the first oil change/​service/​tune-​up would be complimentary. When I brought it in for first tune up, he quoted me 75 $. I told him he had said it would be free. He asked me if I had that in writing anywhere. He of course had not put it in writing at the time of purchase, since he knew he didn’t mean it. Apparently, his word is good for nothing. Not to be trusted. A coworker of mine, who had also bought a scooter from here, had been promised the same free first oil change, only to be denied it upon request! WTF!
Also, the business hours are sporadic (and inaccurately listed on Unilocal) and it’s often difficult to get anything accomplished without a long game of phone tag… My plates and registration just came in the mail today, 6 months after purchase! Wow… Thanks for nothing, Point Loma Scooter Man.

DON’T GO HERE. I REPEAT DO NOT GO HERE! the owner is very condescending and not trustworthy. Upon buying a new scooter I was told I could bring it in for a free oil change and tune up. Upon asking for that he denied the offer and asked if I had it in writing. The business hours are awful and he’s never there. No excuse for this kind of business practice in this economy. Shame on you Mr point Loma scooter owner. Two thumbs down.

I just bought a new battery for my scooter from Point Loma Scooters and it only lasted about 2 weeks. It’s already dead and won’t hold a charge. Even though the battery was obviously defective, they wouldn’t take it back. Definitely not cool to not stand behind the parts you sell.

Ross is the man! My girlfriend had some concerns about a scooter brand that these guys carry that she bought second hand from a friend. Needless to say they had no interest what so ever in trying to help someone who had bought a scooter from another dealer but Ross took the time to answer questions for us and show us some basic maintenance steps to look for on the scooter and even adjusted the handle bars for her.
MAJOR POINTS.
I say the same thing over again in most of my reviews here and it’s that service counts.
Listen up shop owners! When you have someone come into your business asking questions and concerned with a product, it is YOUR OPPORTUNITY to show your expertise and professionalism and build toward a future customer and others that they may influence.

I had written a review back in April. It was filtered, however writing a review seems to be the only way to get a call back. When I spoke to them on the phone about an hour or two after posting my review, I was thanked for removing it. I did not remove it, it was filtered and for the life of me I do not know why. Everything in it was the truth.
It has been over 7 months now since I purchased a scooter from this place and I am still waiting to get my tags. Every time I call (or stop in) I am given an excuse or told I’ll see them next week. It has been sitting for months unused because I can’t legally ride it without tags and the temp tag expired 4 months ago.
