Pacific Sun Pool N Spa

We have a home with an ocean view in Solana Beach. We wanted to install a pool, spa, landscaping, and covered patio with an outdoor kitchen in the backyard to create a space for outdoor living for our family, and an entertainment area for extended family and friends. We called three reputable companies for estimates. Eric and Rob came out and gave us their pitch and explaining they could design and build the project from start to finish. After seeing their design work, listening to their ideas, and seeing their portfolio of work and references, we decided to contract with them. Getting the needed approvals and permits went as they had said that it would. During the construction we wanted some changes to the original plan, and Ken, the construction manager, helped us through the changes and additions with creative and sensible input. We feel we were charged fairly for the extras and upgrades we decided to add. There were definitely some hiccups and issues along the way, but we felt the office staff and construction department was supportive and responsive through the rough spots. The project, as a whole, was much more work and more involved than we anticipated. In the end, with all things considered, the job completion time was within reason, and the costs were as expected. The people at Pacific Sun care about their customers and take pride in their work. The finished backyard is beautiful!

We recently had our landscaping re-​done by Pacific Sun and couldn’t be happier. Their design team is second to done, the superintendents are courteous and respectful, and the crews are fast and efficient. They did everything they said they would, and then some. Best of all, they finished our job in less than the estimated time! We would definitely recommend them to our family and friends without hesitation.

I can’t believe there are any good reviews for this company. They are thieves! They sell you one plan and then try to change materials with cheaper substitutes. They take twice as long as promised and do crappy work. I have built 6 yards from scratch and have never had a problem until now. Buyer beware!!! These guys are the worst!!! p. s. We recently had our backyard of our dreams completed by Pacific Sun. We met with Rob (the owner) and Eric (the landscape) architect to tell them the main things that we were looking for in a design. They quickly came up with a design and plan within the budget we gave them. They incorporated the items that were on our wish list as well as others to create the look that we had described. A dramatic view as you enter our house, an 18 ft X 18 ft covered outdoor kitchen that could hold a double oven, a covered cabana sitting at the edge of the pool, a reverse vanishing edge pool a waterfall and the plan developed created elevation changes to a backyard that was originally flat. We also wanted a permanent fence put in (which was incorporated in the landscaping surrounding the pool) to prevent our small children from getting access to the pool and a ramp to provide wheelchair access to the elevated areas. They were very flexible and up front about the benefits and costs of any change orders that we began to ask about as we went through the process. As it is with any major project things came up which needed modifications and they were very helpful and guided me us on what they would do if it was their house. We just had our final walkthrough on any small items to be corrected. If you are looking for a company that has an in house architect and the experience to do a major project I would definitely recommend Pacific Sun to create an incredible backyard!

I am writing on behalf of my wife and ours experience with Pacific Sun. Our salesmen were both Rob and Eric and we must say from the first time meeting with them we knew we were in good hands. They explained everything to us with perfect detail and answered every question we had. They took our dream of our backyard and made it come to life. We would recommend Pacific Sun to all of our family and friends.

I am not sure who these guys are paying to write good reviews but they are awful! First Eric comes out to sell you on a plan to do your backyard but its a fraud its all minimal and everything you want is an up charge once construction starts. The construction took 4 times as long as was put into the contract which they never compensated us for. Weeks would go by and no one would show up to do any work but they always showed up right away when they wanted payment. The work was done so poorly I am already redoing portions of my yard that was just finished. Eric will never return your calls EVER once he receives your deposit. Im having issues with dying plants and their «6 month guarantee» is a fraud noone will return my calls. The people who wrote the review about the wonderful Dan showing up. There is no Dan we ever encountered and it took our job so long we met everyone at the company, besides the owner Rob who is to busy to ever come out to a job site. The review saying the owner is very involved is wrong too. I know 3 people who used Pac Sun and never heard from or met the owner until they called the office very upset demanding to speak to him. Honestly there are many other good landscaping companies out there save your money and time and go with someone who really cares about their customers. I’m going to spend so much money to fix all of their mistakes they are terrible awful people!

I am writing a review on behalf of my parents. They do not Unilocal at all so I decided to write a review for them based on the work completed by Pacific Sun Pool and Spa. Dan arrived from the company and he welcomed my family and was very respectful when entering the house. That was big for us because my parents had an extremely bad encounter with another pool company who will remain let nameless. Dan showed my family several options which he put together, the plans for the pool and offered landscaping to designs to our family as well. We will probably go with them for the landscaping but we need another year based on what my parents budget is for the time being. They did a tremendous job with the pool and Dan followed up completely giving my family peace of mind that they went with the right company. The job was completed in a timely manner and well within my families budget. Although the price was a bit more than we anticipated, Dan clearly outlined why that was the case and upon completion, it was worth every penny. Their staff is very friendly and their showroom is extremely professional. I do recommend their services and and very pleased with the outcome.

Ad card clearly states ‘renovation’ however after talking with them and setting a time/​date for estimate another person was put on the line and said ‘we’re mainly a new pool construction company’. Got it. Then why send advertising that says otherwise?

We LOVE our new pool! Rob the owner, designed us the pool of our dreams and within our budget. We checked out other pool companies and their proposed design was very basic and more money. With Rob we got a backyard oasis! I recommend Pacific Sun for your pool!

Thank you pacific sun my pool and spa was put in 2003 and I had not one problem rob did a wonderful job and everyone was great my pool looks as good today as it did when it’s was put in I had one problem 5 years later on the hot tub and the pool man called rob who sent a crew out with in a week and redid the hot tub. I had a saltwater pool and love it my pool 18×33 so it not a little one. I had no problem on the bid and money was ow on completion of work. Thank you

We had just purchased a new beautiful home in San Diego and had a blank canvas for the back and front yard landscaping plus we wanted a pool and spa. We checked out the local builders with the BBB and Contractor License Board and the builder we decided to go with was Pacific Sun ‘N Spa they did everything from the pool and spa design to all the landscaping plus our outdoor kitchen and entertaining area.
Pacific Sun gave us a positive attitude about our project and satisfied all of our wish lists.
Everyone was great to work with including our designer, landscape department and all the working crews from our construction manager, to the office staff that was always there to answer our questions.
Our project has been done for 2 months and all of our family and friends have enjoyed our new outdoor living space and we would highly recommend Pacific Sun Pool ‘N Spa to any of our friends and neighbors. After all they have been in business in San Diego for over 40 years.

We had the exact same HORRIBLE experience as described by Encinitas F. above.
This is the worst company you will find, though they have a great sales pitch.
Once you sign the contract it goes downhill fast.

We had a HORRIBLE experience with this company. The salesmen told us we would see them through the process but never returned our calls once the paperwork was complete. The owner, Rob, took 2 weeks to call us back. Our project was to take 14 weeks, but took 14 MONTHS. The culture, created by the owner, is one of deceit and dishonesty. They do everything the least expensive way possible. When you want to fix it, they overcharge you for it. Our additional costs exceeded 15,000 (no, not for expensive tile!). Pacific Sun is NOT your pool company… we wish someone told us to BEWARE. They do not have your interests in mind and shouldn’t be trusted! Analyze the payment schedule… it doesn’t go in the order listed thus you will pay for most of your pool with about 30% of the work completed. Also, they have continued to lay off employees this year and don’t think they will be around for the long haul… especially based on how they treat customers. Seriously, RUN like the wind!!!

Thier landscape and Custom pool design is AMAZING! Complete with Fire pit, BBQ and waterfall features, I never want to leave our friends backyard!
