Pacific Dawn Sportfishing

This boat sucks now with the new captain, they advertised, Miguel island fishing, when we paid, got on, no to much wind, ok I can understand that, we are all there at nine, but we still don’t leave til twelve, ok cool no problem, when we take off, we don’t drop lines til 8:00!!!the first pass we caught three keeper lings (including the jackpot, big reds, thinking he is setting up for another run, we just pulled of drove around forever people started joking around are we whale watching??? i fishing 350 ft wasn’t easy, and catching 30pound cow cods and just floating them turned my stomach, he couldn’t even set us up on the spots, as soon as our lines hit th bottom, reel them (340)up, I’m not on the spot yet then he would drive around another thirty minutes, wore everybody out, all this til three o’clock, been on better boats, the crew worked hard they deserve kudos, bad deal, they even fileted my buddy’s jackpot fish before he could photo it after he told them Gil and gut!, won’t do that again,

Took my son fishing on an overnight trip. Looked at the Unilocal reviews and decided to go on the Pacific Dawn. All the other reviews are correct. These folks do a great job. Memorable experience. The fishing was outstanding and it’s interesting that our boat was at limit by 11 a.m. and other boats in the area were still looking for fish.
The crew was very helpful with us as we were amateurs, but we were willing to learn.
Just an all-​around great experience. Couldn’t have been better.

Pat and his crew have a whole other level of service. Boat sleeps good, a/​c in the bunks always working. Food is good and they hunt down the fish! The crew cares about their customers and are their when you need their help. Caught my 2 first bluefin tuna last year after 4 trips. That day Pat was great helping everyone else hook up to fish. He would hand pick the bait and cast it out for some hand off the reel and boom seconds later the they were on the BFT. This made his counts go from 20 to 60 BFT. Sending everyone home with fish. They fillet on the boat… great service can’t wait for this year 1^st trip.

I caved and went on a 2 day fishing trip on the Pacific Dawn a few weeks ago. I chose the Pacific Dawn due to the boat only holding 18 people, meaning fewer tangles, headaches, and more room to fish! The price is average compared to the other boats at Fisherman’s Landing, and Pat Cavanaugh, and Bill Cavanaugh of the Long Range Boat, The Excel, are very knowledgeable in fishing. My 2 day trip had Bill as a captain since Pat was on vacation.
When I first stepped on the boat, I was greeted by eager deckhands, and even met Bill down in the bunk room. It was my first time going on a trip more than ¾ of a day, but the crew were more than accommodating in giving tips, helping you with tying knots, hooks, and how to hook bait without killing it. Bill was very picky trying to get the best bait possible for us, which many of us appreciated.
The first day we limited out on yellow tail in an hour and a half, everyone worked well together, and the deckhands were great going around the boat pulling fish up. I even managed to catch my first Bluefin ever, about 15 – 20 lbs!
Meals on the boat were great too. French toast, eggs, bacon, and fruit were for breakfast, but the chef also made breakfast burritos if requested. Dinner there was fresh mashed potatoes, peeled and mashed on board, whole pork loins, and broccoli.
Great crew and boat if you want a lot of room to fish! I got a bit seasick, but even while I was outside trying to overcome it, a crew member still watched over me, probably to make sure I didn’t go overboard, but I still appreciated it.

By far best boat i’ve ever fished on. Professional crew made sure all tangles were resolved immediately. Never had to bag a fish myself. Crew courteous and sincere. Hope to fish with them again soon

Tis Aug. 2 nd. has been the 7^th. year on a charter with Pat, Dustin, Mike, Alec, and the rest of the gang and can’t stress enough the professionalism ttheyshow when fishing with them. If you get a chance to ride with them you’ll be overwhelmed by the joy and passion they have for the sport.

I have known Pat for many years. I have chartered the Pacific Dawn in the past on private multi-​day trips and have gone on club charters as well.
One year, on a multi-​day inshore trip to Mexican waters, nine of us caught 65 white seabass in 1 ½ days. I have nothing but good memories of time I spent on the ‘Dawn.
It’s a first-​class operation. When you’re on the boat and get to know Pat a bit, you’ll find that he’s got an air of self confidence based on his experience and fish-​finding capability. We all know there are many decisions that can make or break a trip, especially the shorter day to three day trips that the ‘Dawn specializes in. With Pat, I always felt we (passengers) we’re going to get the right decision.
Boat is well appointed for 18 or less and he keeps it well maintained. Always has top notch crew and galley person.

People ask me why did you sell your 27 World cat with tuna tower and Lee’s out riggers?
The answer is I went on the Pacific Dawn.
Capt. Pat and Crew pay attention to every detail and know their customers. You truly feel like you have had the «Starbucks experience» when you leave.
Amazing considering that you see how hard all of them work and as you leave off the boat more new anglers are in line to go out again,

Pat is a great captain with a great crew. Not only are they great, the boat is GREAT also. Pat will always do his best to put you on fish and his crew will help the worst fisherman catch the most fish. The boat is very comfortable with comfy bunks and air conditioned sleep areas.(NICE!!) It also has Refrigerated Salt Water to keep you fish in sashimi quality. Can’t go wrong fishing this boat!
